Chapter 107 - Burn!

"Damn it! Damn it!"

A figure stumbled through the alley, looking frantic.

He clutched his severed wound, and the purple psychic energy had only slightly improved Tossak-Rome's face. He glared fiercely in the direction of the explosion above.

"I was ambushed!"

That wasn't some idle noble scion relying on his parents' resources in the Imperium with his secretary. It was clearly his old colleague, an Inquisitor also affiliated with the Inquisition.

Tossak-Rome recognized the custom Bolter that only Inquisitors were authorized to carry; that terrifying weapon existed solely to deal with tenacious Daemons or heretical monsters.

The bullets used were not like ordinary bullets that could only kill enemies through impact. The Inquisition's Bolter rounds had an advantage in both size and ammunition capacity. These small bullets were terrifying instruments of slaughter; rather than calling them bullets, they were more like miniature missiles. After penetrating an enemy's body for an initial injury, they would explode, causing a second, even more terrifying injury!

Even with the protection of a psychic barrier, he was still torn apart by the exploding bullet, which is why Tossak-Rome's left hand was violently severed at the joint without warning.

Tossak-Rome once possessed such a weapon, but unfortunately, there seemed to be a large blank space in his memory. He didn't even know how he arrived at this Hive World, and everything that could prove his former Inquisitor status had vanished.

Only a singular mission in his mind drove his actions: to gain the favor of the Lord of Pleasure.

No matter how powerful one's strength, one still needed to be alive to use it. Tossak-Rome, realizing he had been targeted by an Inquisitor from the same Inquisition, felt as if half his soul had been scared out of him.

After all, when you discover you've been targeted by the Inquisition, it already means countless people have been constantly watching you without your prior knowledge.

Moreover, it would be as terrifying as poking a hornet's nest; after killing one Inquisitor, many more Inquisitors would step forward.

The powerful Daemonhunters of the Daemonhunters were chilling, and the Assassins of the Xenos Inquisition were even more impossible to guard against.

Tossak-Rome had been lurking in the Adelie Hive World for over a month, making considerable deployments. As someone from the Inquisition, his meticulous and rigorous approach naturally included escape routes.

It was time to flee.

The location of this escape route was in Ashley, the lowest level of the Adelie Hive World. Tossak-Rome detested the filthy environment there, but when fleeing for his life, who cared about such things? He hastily disappeared into the alley.

Of course, what Tossak-Rome could think of, Kenmyo Isayama could naturally also think of.

"Damn rat!"

After two hours of the middle-level lockdown yielding no news of Tossak-Rome, Kenmyo Isayama roughly understood that the seemingly impenetrable, iron-wall-like blockade had likely failed to stop him.

They couldn't even catch an injured fellow; they truly were useless.

"Dispatch troops to sweep and clear the underworld of Ashley."

This time, Kenmyo Isayama did not conceal his identity as an Inquisitor. His previous concealment was only out of fear that his opponents in the shadows would not dare to come knocking.

Now that the initial skirmish had determined a victor, Kenmyo Isayama naturally wanted to press his advantage.

The legal department had fighter jets, tanks, and a considerable number of soldiers that could be deployed into battle. As a defensive force for a Hive World, they were barely adequate.

However, if one were merely a high-ranking Imperial official, they would only have the authority to mobilize law enforcement personnel and would be unable to mobilize local armies for any military actions or interventions, nor could they utilize them.

But an Inquisitor's authority had no such limitations; he could even mobilize cyclone torpedo capable of destroying all life on a planet, so mobilizing local armies was extremely easy.

Earlier, Kenmyo Isayama had stated that everyone connected to Tossak-Rome must die, whether they were gang members or protectors. All connections must die to minimize the negative impact of Tossak-Rome's betrayal of the Inquisition. Therefore, Kenmyo Isayama intended to completely and utterly physically cleanse all the indigenous inhabitants of Ashley.

The simplest method was fire. For a vast lower world, the method of Inquisition that had existed since the early Imperial centuries was the best approach.

Fighter jets, loaded with highly combustible fuel, would spray it over a wide area below, and then a tiny flame, the size of a matchstick, would be enough to ignite a prairie fire.

Kenmyo Isayama, surrounded by people, was now at the edge of Ashley's lowest level. Fighter jets roared overhead, faithfully executing his orders, covering every inch of land with highly explosive fuel.

Officials, many years senior to Kenmyo Isayama, were also present, looking at the young Inquisitor with awe. His single iron command determined the life and death of countless people.

"Do you know? A single spark can start a prairie fire."

"Sizzle…"

Kenmyo Isayama, with a gentle smile, struck a match lightly against the matchbox with his distinctly jointed fingers.

The match in his hand ignited with a faint glow. Although it was just a weak beam of light in the darkness now, in the next second, it would support the dazzling light that would ignite the entire world.

"In the Emperor's name, I grant you death!"

Kenmyo Isayama merely gently dropped the match into the accumulated pool of fuel in front of him. Soon, with the help of the fuel, the faint flame grew larger and larger, and its volume expanded.

Everyone could hear the roaring sound of the flames, a startling whoosh!

Houses were igniting, the ground was melting, and there were even a few screams of those awakened from their sleep.

Kenmyo Isayama chose his timing well; it was equivalent to past two in the morning, when most people were asleep.

But although this crimson fire dragon had already swallowed the entire street, it was insignificant compared to the entirety of Ashley.

Kenmyo Isayama was aware of this, so he directly activated a function in Ashley that hadn't been used for nearly hundreds of years: the ventilation system.

The so-called ventilation system injected fresh oxygen at an appropriate concentration. This was a necessary function for most Hive Worlds, even those millennia-old relics, and Adelie surely wouldn't be without it.

In his previous life, when Kenmyo Isayama used a stove to burn fire, there was something very effective: a bellows. Injecting fresh air could help with more efficient combustion.

So, it's easy to imagine what would happen when the oxygen concentration increased in a world that was already like dry tinder and raging fire?

It would inevitably be an uncontrollable flashover!

Kenmyo Isayama and these old men had already retreated to the safe middle level by the time the ventilation started.

This poor Ashley, which at first was only a hundred-meter-long fire dragon, suddenly transformed into a giant dragon stretching for dozens of kilometers. These flames devoured everything around them, constantly exploding, and the merciless inferno covered all the ground here.

The temperature here once reached over 1,400 degrees Celsius, directly turning it into a forbidden zone for life!

It's unknown how many criminals and heretics were burned alive or suffocated to death in the flames that night.

At this moment, a spaceship, finally unable to contain itself, directly destroyed the outermost layer of the barrier with its laser cannon amidst the raging fire and flew out.
