Chapter 2 - Contemplation

Two hours later, Lu Xian was still in his room.

He was still reading Seven Nether Beasts Of Calamity. Yet now his eyes had a tired look in them.

Cultivators in this world cultivate using a very different method. Apart from mediation, they also practice martial arts.

These martial arts are different from normal martial arts, because these martial arts can be used as cultivation techniques aswell.

For example, the Seven Nether Beasts Of Calamity can be utilised as a cultivation technique that can provide the cultivator with the unique strengths and weakness of the respective beasts.

But for one to use such techniques, they must first have a high understanding of the initial martial art. When one has attained a grand comprehension of the martial art, they will be able to understand the underlying cultivation technique within.

Lu Xian had spent an entire two hours on the martial manual, but had understood less than one percent of it.

Finally, he closed the book and laid down on the ground. His mind was completely drained from such intensive contemplation.

Usually early aspirants of the martial path do not have such heavy comprehension of the martial arts and cultivation techniques described above.

But, Lu Xian knew every small detail.

He didn't find such information in the books he had read. Instead, this fortitutious knowledge was granted to him by another source.

Five years ago, Lu Xian had seen consecutive visions straight for an entire year in his dreams.

He had first brushed them off as mere dreams. But, when they started to come every night, his thoughts on them changed drastically.

These visions showed him glimpses of a completely different world. One which has towering skyscrapers, mechanical vehicles and not a single record of cultivation or of Immortals.

He saw these visions from his point of view, only that he was of a completely different appearance in these visions.

It was not long until he realised that these visions are of a different world than his and the events in these visions are actually being witnessed by his alternate self in that world.

This was a huge find!

A world other than the one he lived in!

This was the changing point in Lu Xian's life, the insights which he had received from these visions undoubtedly allowed him to grasp the concept of martial arts better than what he previously could.

How?

It seemed that Lu Xian's world did exist in the world in his visions, as stories and tales.

Within these tales, his world was described with many discrepancies and exaggerations, but still he was able to glimpse how the other world perceives his world as.

The arrogant young master, the "courting death", the unnecessary collection of girls for a harem.....

Much of the information was purely bullshit.

But, the ones which were useful was able to provide some really important insights to Lu Xian as they nearly described the situation in his world.

As a result, he was able to grasp the concepts of martial arts and cultivation techniques much more readily.

Yet, his attainment in martial arts was still at the novice rank.

Grasping the concept of something and understanding the something itself were two very different issues.

Lu Xian was still contemplating his experience on his visions, when suddenly someone knocked on his door.

He waved his hand and the door immediately turned into dust. In front of the door stood his personal aide, Han Shi.

"Young Master, your father requests your presence in his quaters."

"Father's back?" Lu Xian asked with an astonished tone.

His father, Lu Xiao, had gone out to hunt an Ancestral Blood rank beast. He was not supposed to come back for another two weeks.

But, this was a pleasant surprise.

Lu Xian quickly got up. He exited his room and waves his hand again.

In an instant, the dust reformed back into a brown, study door.

Han Shi took the lead and guided Lu Xian to his father's quaters.

Along the way, Lu Xian was still contemplating about his visions.

He had not told them to anyone, not even his father whom he trusts as a friend.

Such experiences attract a lot of attention in this world. And the one thing which he did not needed right now were a bunch of old elders examining him like a priceless treasure.

Anyway, coming back to the topic, Lu Xian was actually surprised when he saw that much of the useful information he had recieved from his visions, aligned much with his world aswell.

Like, the ascension of a martial artist into an immortal required the martial artist to go through a Tribulation. This was something which was greatly portrayed in his visions.

This had actually puzzled Lu Xian very much.

How can someone describe something so vividly which was not even of their native world?

Lu Xian couldn't help but praise the authors of the stories he had seen in his visions.

Soon, he had arrived in front of his father's quaters.

Han Shi bowed and vanished on the spot, it was as if he wasn't even present there.

Lu Xian wasn't surprised. Even though Han Shi was an attendant, he was still leagues ahead of Lu Xian in terms of martial attainment.

Lu Xian took a deep breath. He stretched out his hand and knocked on the door in front of him thrice.

In an instant, the door turned into dust.

Lu Xian entered the room and found something amiss.

Usually his father's quaters would be lit brightly by the starlight lamps hanging overhead.

But this time, the entire room was very dimly lit. Whatever light was present in the room was off a light yellow colour tinged with pink.

Also, the entire room was filled with the scent of an aromatic incense.

Lu Xian felt extremely puzzled.

He felt like he was not supposed to come here.

But, just as he was thinking this, two strong arms suddenly wrapped themselves around his waist.

Before he could register anything, he felt his back hitting someone's chest.

"Oh my dear little wife, how I had missed you so much these last three months!"

Lu Xian: "!!"
