Chapter 3 - Page 3

And this person was someone Xia Li was already very familiar with.

After all, when Xia Li arrived, the other party was already training—and when Xia Li finished his own training, that person was still going.

That's right. This person was Rock Lee.

A diligent genius.

Yet Xia Li felt that Lee's physical conditioning was simply terrifying. Judging from Lee's training method, Xia Li believed that Lee's theoretical upper limit might actually be even higher than his own.

However, that assumption rested on the premise of an infinitely long growth period.

The problem was that human growth cycles were limited. Xia Li might not be able to reach his theoretical peak before that cycle ended.

Theory was theory; reality was reality.

At least for now, Xia Li saw no possibility of surpassing Lee in physical strength, nor did he harbor any desire to do so. After all, he had witnessed Lee's effort with his own eyes.

"Oh! Xia Li, you're thirty minutes late today! You'll need to do a few extra sets!"When Lee saw Xia Li, his eyes lit up. Although he was used to training alone, having a partner made him much happier.

"…Alright."Today, Xia Li had decided to challenge his limits. A few extra sets probably wouldn't be enough.

Xiao Li was stunned by this response.

In the past, whenever Lee suggested additional training, Xia Li would always refuse. Back then, Lee's eyes would practically burst into flames.

"Ohhh~~~ Xia Li, you actually agreed! This is burning youth! I've decided to do even more sets today as a reward to myself!"

Xia Li felt a little awkward. Even though he had seen this scene many times before, he still felt Lee was a bit… exaggerated.

And so, today's training began.

Xia Li moved to another area beside Lee. Although they were in the same training ground, their training methods were completely different.

Xia Li believed his body was still developing, so he avoided high-intensity training. He usually stuck to low-intensity exercises and relied on time to accumulate results.

Minute by minute passed.

Even though the intensity wasn't high, Xia Li was already panting heavily. Still, he hadn't reached his goal yet. His body was nearly at its limit, but his mental state remained excellent—he felt he could still push on.

Lee watched him, nearly moved to tears.

It was hot—really, really hot!

In Lee's eyes, Xia Li's movements suddenly became smooth again. Lee was extremely familiar with this situation—it happened often.

Because this was youth!

This time, Lee was truly moved to tears.

"…I finally succeeded."Xia Li thought to himself that his limit seemed higher than he had imagined. Or rather, that hadn't been his true limit—it was merely the upper boundary of what his body could endure.

After training for a while longer, Xia Li greeted Lee and left with heavy steps. His body was exhausted, but his mind felt fine.

He planned to read when he got home and learn chakra extraction as soon as possible.

The next day, Xia Li miraculously felt fine.

Had his body recovered that quickly?

He attempted another breakthrough.

By the third day, Xia Li stopped pushing himself.

The persistent fatigue meant he could only perform basic exercises. It seemed that while he could break through, he couldn't maintain it—and that was exactly what Xia Li wanted to understand.

He sighed softly.

Physical training and chakra accumulation still had a very long road ahead.

Chapter Six: Chakra Extraction

A few days later, Xia Li felt that although the physical fatigue had faded, its aftereffects hadn't completely disappeared. It took about this long for the sensation to fully vanish.

But that was only in the world of Naruto.

Although ordinary people in this world couldn't compare to those with powerful bloodlines, their physical condition far surpassed that of his previous life. Otherwise, if Xia Li had done this back then, he would probably already be dead.

No—without powerful mental strength as a foundation, he likely wouldn't have been able to reach this level at all.

Over the past few days, nothing special happened at school. Iruka simply led the class through training and began explaining chakra-related knowledge.

To Xia Li, this was somewhat a waste of time. He had already taught himself the material, and the training intensity was far below what he had set for himself.

Still, school had just started, so the teachers were focusing on basic movements. He would probably be able to train freely later.

After finishing the book, Xia Li prepared to try extracting chakra.

Since it was his first time, he asked his mother, Sinai, to watch over him.

Although chakra extraction wasn't usually dangerous, who knew if something unexpected might happen the first time?

"Mom, I'm starting."Xia Li sat cross-legged on the bed. While chakra extraction didn't require any specific posture, being watched meant he should at least look proper.

"Don't worry. I remember chakra extraction isn't dangerous," Sinai encouraged him.

"I know," Xia Li nodded. "I'm just being careful. What if I pass out?"

He began sensing the energy inside his body using what he'd learned from the book. In fact, he had already practiced sensing before—it was very easy for him, even more so now.

With Sinai watching, and a safety net in place, Xia Li no longer hesitated. He combined mental and physical energy and began extracting chakra.

Nothing went wrong.

He successfully extracted it and controlled the chakra in his hand. The familiar blue energy made his heart waver slightly.

"You succeeded on your first try! Xia Li is amazing!"Sinai was also surprised. While chakra extraction wasn't dangerous, first-time success wasn't guaranteed. Did this mean her child's talent was exceptional?

She was thrilled.

To celebrate Xia Li's talent, she decided to ask someone for help and exchange for the Shadow Clone Technique—planning to surprise him tomorrow.

"…Not bad."Xia Li hadn't expected it to go so smoothly. Maybe it was related to his mental strength?

Either way, his talent was clearly quite good.

He didn't know how much chakra he currently had. It felt decent, but without a reference point, he couldn't tell exactly how much.

As he was thinking, he suddenly felt a hand on his face.

Sinai cupped his cheeks and smiled."You successfully extracted chakra. Xia Li should smile and be happy~"

In the end, under Sinai's control, Xia Li forced out a stiff smile.

Though it looked awkward, Sinai was very satisfied."That's right. You're so young—why do you always look so serious?"

Xia Li felt helpless. He wasn't expressionless—he was just thinking.

Eventually, he escaped Sinai's grasp and returned to his room to continue extracting chakra, practicing repeatedly to familiarize himself with the process.

The extraction process needed to become second nature—something he could do without conscious effort.

As for how to use the chakra…

He couldn't perform ninjutsu yet, so letting it go to waste felt a bit regrettable. Maybe he could practice control? Tree-walking? Wall-walking?

But his mother might be resting next door. If he fell off a wall and made noise, that wouldn't be good—so he gave up the idea.

What about shape transformation?

Naturally, chakra could change.

Since he didn't yet know his chakra nature, he could only practice shape manipulation.

More accurately, Xia Li tried to mold chakra into shapes he imagined—starting with the simplest: a sphere.

He attempted to release the chakra from his hand.

The moment it left his body, it rapidly dispersed into the air, completely out of control.

Xia Li frowned but didn't give up. How could he succeed on the first try?

He continued extracting, practicing, extracting again, practicing again…

Soon, his chakra was completely depleted.

He estimated that with his current chakra pool, he could extract all of it in one go if he went all out. The amount extracted depended on mental strength—and his mental strength was unusually strong.

This also proved that his chakra capacity didn't quite match his mental ability.

As for shape manipulation, he had made some progress. At least, after the chakra left his body, he could still sense a faint connection—though controlling it was extremely difficult.

If he could establish and feel that connection, he would be satisfied. Strengthening it would be the first step.

With his chakra exhausted, today's work was over.

Tomorrow, there was something more important—meeting Iruka.

First, he needed to ask Iruka how much chakra he had, at least roughly.Second, he wanted to see if he could obtain the Three Basic Techniques early.

Given his current chakra level, he felt confident he already met the requirements.

If that didn't work, he could ask his mother for the technique seals and then consult Iruka on how to use them.

With plans for tomorrow in mind, Xia Li quietly fell asleep.

The next day after school, Xia Li found Iruka.

"Xia Li? What's the matter?" Iruka asked, surprised.

"Iruka-sensei, I learned chakra extraction from the textbook. I'd like to ask how much chakra I currently have."

"…You've already finished self-study?"Iruka was startled. As a responsible teacher, he was well aware of Xia Li's situation.

Xia Li's mother had been a genin—she likely knew what happened, but not why. That meant Xia Li must have learned everything on his own in just a few days.

Although Iruka didn't know why Xia Li wanted to know his chakra level, he loved diligent, talented students.

"Of course."

Chapter Seven: A Genius

At Iruka's signal, Xia Li immediately extracted chakra in front of him—this time pulling out all of it at once and releasing it without hesitation.

Blue chakra enveloped his entire body.

Iruka stared in disbelief.

That amount of chakra… how terrifying must Xia Li's reserves be?

Then they locked eyes.

Xia Li: staring…Iruka: "…Uh…"

"Xia Li, why did you stop? To measure chakra quantity, you need to extract all of it," Iruka reminded him.

"I already did."Xia Li frowned. "Iruka-sensei… do I have very little chakra?"

If that were true, it would be troublesome.

"Little? No, no, not at all!"Iruka hurriedly explained. "I just didn't expect you to extract everything in one go."

"Iruka-sensei, how much chakra do I have compared to a genin?"This was crucial to Xia Li.

"Let me think…"After a moment, Iruka said, "Right now, your chakra is about twice the minimum level of a freshly graduated genin—roughly twice the average."

"Is the difference really that big?"Xia Li frowned again.

"Xia Li, that's already a lot. You're still growing—chakra increases naturally as the body develops. Total chakra gained through growth far exceeds what training alone provides."

Iruka sighed after sensing the chakra around Xia Li."If you continue growing normally until graduation, your chakra reserves will be far above average."

"…That's good."Xia Li finally relaxed.

Then he remembered Naruto.

Compared to that monster—with the Nine-Tails, Ashura's reincarnation, and Uzumaki bloodline—he didn't even count as average.

Thinking that way, Xia Li smiled.

Seeing this, Iruka also relaxed. He had almost traumatized a genius student.

Yes—genius.

In Iruka's eyes, Xia Li was unquestionably one. Learning chakra extraction from scratch in days, showing excellent control, and possessing chakra reserves comparable to third-year students at enrollment—how could he not be a genius?

"There's one more thing, Xia Li," Iruka said with a smile.

"Yes?"

"The amount of chakra you can extract at once already surpasses most genin—some chūnin, even. That's extremely impressive."

"Oh."Xia Li wasn't too concerned. One-time extraction was tied closely to mental strength—and that was his strong suit.

"Iruka-sensei… may I learn the Three Basic Techniques early?"This was his second goal.

Iruka considered it."Normally, they're taught in the second year. But your level already exceeds that. You can learn them."

Rules aside, nothing prohibited early teaching.

"Thank you, Iruka-sensei."Xia Li bowed sincerely. He trusted Iruka's character—if it were Mizuki, he wouldn't have dared ask.

Iruka scratched his head, smiling."No problem. A teacher is happy when students work hard."

He handed over three scrolls."These contain the Three Techniques, along with my notes. Read them first. If you don't understand something, come ask me—but remember to return them afterward."

"Understood."

Xia Li took the scrolls and examined them carefully.

They were filled with annotations and explanations.

If I still can't learn it after this… I might as well smash my head into a wall.
