I was walking with Chaewon, our arms linked as usual.
"Hey! Is that your broth—"
I didn't get to finish.
My foot caught on the uneven pavement, and before I could react, I lost my balance. Since our arms were linked, Chaewon went down with me.
"Ow—" I groaned, turning toward her. "Are you alrig—"
I stopped mid-sentence.
A tall boy rushed toward us, panic written all over his face.
Wow. Today really isn't my day, I thought. Why can't I finish a single sentence?
"Are you alright? Did you get hurt?"
he asked urgently, already helping Chaewon sit up.
It's not even that big of a deal, I thought. Why is he overreacting? He'd lose it if he saw how Chaewon and I fight like animals at my house.
"Y-yes," Chaewon said, a little startled. "I'm fine."
She suddenly looked at me and gasped dramatically.
"Oh! Y/N—you're bleeding! That's a nasty scratch!"
She said it in that joking tone she always used, like she was talking about a papercut and not my knee.
I glanced down. There was blood on my skirt, but it didn't hurt much.
"Huh? I'm fine," I said, pushing myself up on my own.
The boy stayed focused on Chaewon, checking her arms, her expression still tense.
Chaewon sighed. "See? Everyone's okay."
I got up and looked at him. It was him. Park Sunghoon. I have always heard of him from Chaewon but never got to meet him in person.
"Hello. Nice to meet you. I am y/n, chaewons's friend."
"OH!-" he looked as if he wasn't even aware of my presence.
"I am Sunghoon. Chaewon's brother."
That's it? Not even a hello!? I thought.
"See you! Chaewon!" I waved to chaewon who was leaving with her brother.
"BYEEE!!!" She replied.
I saw Sunghoon side eyeing me while walking with Chaewon as if he was telling me that I was dumb.
Ugh!! Who does he think he is!? I thought.
