Chapter 55 - Chapter 54: A Real Mute

Chapter 54: A Real Mute

Looking at the progress bar for [Wolf Clan Nemesis] displayed on the transparent panel, Johnny couldn't help but feel a sense of speechlessness and helplessness.

That progress was simply too slow! Even though he was grinding it every day.

After having his fill of food and drink, Johnny turned his gaze toward the sleeping Micah.

A sinister smile curled on his lips, and then he suddenly delivered a General Yu Flying Kick, landing it directly on Micah.

Micah jolted awake from his sleep, but before he could fully react to what was happening...

Valerie, who was nearby, quickly stepped forward. Following Johnny's previous instructions, she pinned Micah firmly to the ground, leaving him unable to move an inch.

Immediately after, Johnny bent down to pick up a wooden stick of moderate thickness and carefully used it to grip a piece of glowing-red charcoal.

With the sizzling sound of the charcoal meeting the air, Johnny stepped closer and closer to Micah's terrified face.

Micah's eyes widened, his face filled with an expression of utter disbelief.

He could never have imagined that a partner who usually went through life and death with him would treat him like this.

Although he did tend to have a big mouth, he racked his brain and still couldn't figure out where exactly he had offended Johnny.

However, in the face of this situation, words of pleading poured out of Micah's mouth incessantly:

"Johnny, we're brothers in the same family! Why on earth are you doing this?"

"Johnny, if there's something about me you don't like, you can just give me a good beating to vent your anger! There's no need for this!"

"You traitorous bastard, Dutch will never let you off easy!"

"Aaaaaargh—"

Despite Micah's desperate struggles and resistance, he was unfortunately pinned down firmly by Valerie and couldn't break free at all.

Yet the hatred in Johnny's eyes didn't diminish in the slightest as he continued to slowly bring the burning charcoal closer to Micah's open mouth.

Finally, the glowing-red charcoal was stuffed into Micah's mouth, and a blood-curdling scream instantly erupted.

The sound was high-pitched and piercing at first, but it gradually became low and weak as time passed.

Finally, when everything fell silent, there was one more true mute among the originally noisy group—Micah.

Naturally, Johnny wasn't going to let him off that easily. After adjusting the position of the man lying on the ground, he prepared to start grinding the [Western Ip Man] perk.

"Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora, Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora, Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora, Ora Ora Ora!"

Johnny's fists, dense and rapid like raindrops, rained down incessantly on Micah's body.

Every punch contained immense power, but Johnny intentionally controlled his strength to ensure that Micah wouldn't be killed on the spot by an overly heavy blow.

Whenever he knocked Micah unconscious, he would quickly wake him up again and then continue punching him into unconsciousness.

During these intervals, he even turned his head and said to Valerie with a relaxed expression:

"Hey, Ms. Philip, you can take this chance to rest for a bit. After all, we still have several days of traveling ahead of us!"

Hearing this, the corner of Valerie's mouth couldn't help but twitch.

She thought to herself, "With the scene you're making, how could I possibly sleep?"

However, she didn't voice her thoughts and just shook her head slightly, indicating she wasn't sleepy.

Time passed minute by minute, and before she knew it, a whole hour had gone by.

Yet, to her surprise, Johnny was actually able to continue torturing this man with his fists for such a long time!

Valerie's eyes widened, her heart full of doubt and confusion.

She couldn't help but wonder, "What kind of deep-seated hatred does this man have for Micah?"

"Could it be that Micah killed his whole family? Otherwise, why would he torture him like this?"

Carrying these questions, Valerie sat quietly on a worn-out mat on the ground. While continuing to think pensively, she reached for the firearm beside her and began to carefully wipe away the gun oil.

With a "ding," the level of Western Ip Man was finally maxed out. Johnny opened the panel to check the changes and, while he was at it, to look at the attributes of Micah's dual revolvers.

[Purple☆ Western Ip Man] (Level 3)

[You can still become a Grandmaster in the West. perk Effects: ① Every one of your melee attacks can maximize the mobilization of every muscle's power to form a powerful strike. ② Your Electric Cannon has a 100% chance to stun the opponent. ③ You can block 100% of the opponent's attacks during close-quarters combat.]

"It seems a block effect was added. But finally, I can get the Raccoon Hat without taking any damage!" He then proceeded to check Micah's weapons.

[Magical Item — Micah's Double-Action Revolvers]

[perk Effect: You can significantly increase your draw speed, but your accuracy will be significantly reduced.]

"What a piece of shit perk!" Johnny looked at the two identical perks in disbelief. If he used both, wouldn't his aim be entirely up to fate?

Whatever, I'll just fix them up and sell them to a classmate.

With questions in mind, Johnny continued to scan Micah's perks. Besides [Dead Eye], there was only one perk left.

[Gold☆ Born Villain] (Level 1)

[As a Born Villain, you naturally possess impressive martial prowess and connections. perk Effects: ① The speed at which your Dead Eye improves will increase with the number of people you slaughter. ② People who interact with you will subconsciously loathe you.]

[Acquisition Condition: Bond Level reaches 80]

Johnny had never seen a perk with such a large negative effect; he wouldn't take it even if it were given to him for free.

Having finished all this, Johnny turned around with a look of pleasure and softly instructed Valerie:

"Ms. Philip, try to pack up and take everything here that you can use or that catches your eye."

With that, he turned around and walked with firm steps toward where the horses were hitched.

Johnny walked at a leisurely pace, seemingly casually reaching his right hand into the pocket of Micah's worn-out leather jacket to feel around.

Originally, he had been full of anticipation, hoping to pull out a few golden pocket watches or other valuables from the pocket. To his disappointment, what he eventually pulled out was just a crumpled slip of paper.

Johnny's brow furrowed slightly as a hint of doubt rose in his heart, but out of curiosity, he stopped and carefully unfolded the paper to read it.

As his gaze slowly moved across the paper, his eyes widened more and more, and a look of irrepressible excitement gradually appeared on his face.

It turned out that this inconspicuous slip of paper actually contained a record of an extremely important piece of news.

A local bank would be sending a wagon full of cash through the nearby area in two weeks!

Not only that, the paper even included an incredibly detailed map, precisely marking the route the Stagecoach would likely take and key information about the surrounding environment.

Seeing this news, a surge of wild joy hit Johnny's heart, and he thought to himself:

"Hehe, Heaven is truly helping me this time! I can easily make a fortune again!"

At that thought, he quickly and carefully folded the paper, stuffed it into his satchel, and then neatly folded Micah's leather jacket, placing it into the pack next to the saddle.

Once everything was packed, Johnny glanced back at Valerie, who was busy organizing items, and waved to her to signal that they were ready.

Then, the two of them mounted their horses together and raised their whips. Accompanied by the sound of hooves echoing through the air, they galloped away like a gust of wind, disappearing into the distant horizon...
