Chapter 1 - The Nightmare

In a quiet valley surrounded by coconut trees and silver streams stood the village of Clear Streams. The people there were known across the land for their kindness. Doors were never locked. Food was always shared. Laughter filled the evenings as drums played and children danced near the water.

Among them lived Ama — known as the most beautiful woman in the village — not just for her looks, but for her gentle heart. She helped the elderly, taught the children, and sang songs that made even tired travelers smile.

One season, strange things began to happen. Animals disappeared. Night fires went out without wind. Shadows moved where nothing should move. Fear slowly replaced laughter.

Then the Horror came.

It was a dark, towering creature that walked only at night. It destroyed homes and attacked anyone who wandered outside after sunset. The villagers hid in silence. No hunter's trap worked. No warrior's spear could stop it. Hope began to fade.

One evening, a traveler arrived — a young warrior named Kade. He listened to the villagers' story and did not run like others before him. Instead, he studied the creature's tracks, the broken trees, and the places it avoided.

"The stream," he said. "It never crosses the running water."

Kade made a plan. With the villagers' help, he set a trap near the largest stream using fire, ropes, and falling nets tied to the coconut trees. When the Horror came again, it charged — and was caught in the trap above the water where it lost its strength. Kade faced it bravely and defeated it, ending the terror over Clear Streams.

Morning returned with singing birds and relieved tears. The village celebrated for seven days.

Ama thanked Kade for his courage, and as they spent time together, respect turned to friendship, and friendship to love. In time, they married under the coconut trees beside the shining stream — where laughter lived again.

And Clear Streams was never afraid of the night again.
