Chapter 36 - "The Laws of Hell and the Breath of the Ancients."

-----

-----

"YES!"

Ichigo Kurosaki's shout of triumph nearly tore the air apart. He stared at the Black Blade collapsing in front of him and actually jumped on the spot, giddy as a kid who'd just taken his first steps.

Rukia let out a long, shaky breath beside him. It carried the relief of someone who had just walked away from the edge of death. She trusted Ichigo's reckless, bullheaded charge into danger more than was probably healthy—but when the laws of Hell had locked onto her, tightening like chains around her very soul, her nerves had been stretched to their absolute limit.

Thankfully, this gamble with fate had swerved hard toward the light.

"So that's it. The power that erupted from you at the end—that was the source of Hell itself."

Urahara Kisuke's usually half-lidded eyes were now gleaming with manic excitement. Seeing his hypothesis confirmed thrilled him more than inventing a brand-new Hōgyoku ever could. After all, in the long history of Soul Society, Ichigo Kurosaki was the first—and possibly the only—being capable of wielding the laws of Hell.

Having glimpsed a secret this outrageous, Urahara looked at Ichigo the way a scientist might stare at the last living prehistoric beast on Earth—utter fascination, burning curiosity, and not a shred of restraint.

Karakura Town – The Kurosaki Residence

"We did it! Everyone's safe!"

Yuzu Kurosaki cheered, tears brimming in her eyes. When she learned that Rukia and her brother had been dragged into Hell trying to save her, the guilt had almost eaten her alive.

Now the darkness had cleared. The ending had fallen perfectly into place—exactly as she had prayed it would.

Seireitei – Soul Society

The gathered captains, watching the projection, visibly relaxed when Ichigo finally claimed victory.

Hell was no small matter—even for them. The miasma leaking from its depths could corrode spiritual bodies beyond repair. It was a place even high-ranking Shinigami treated with caution.

Ichigo's success finally allowed Ukitake and the others to settle their hearts.

...

The Ninja World – Konoha

"Didn't expect such a hot-blooded fight to end so… abruptly."

Kakashi Hatake narrowed his eyes, unmistakable schadenfreude in his tone as he watched the Black Blade dragged into the abyss by chains of Hell.

Sasuke Uchiha, on the other hand, looked furious.

"That guy's strength doesn't even qualify him to be compared to Uchiha Madara. So why is his fight ranked eighth?"

To Sasuke, Madara stood on a divine pedestal—far above anyone in the video.

Naruto snorted.

"How is he not on Madara's level? Did you see that final blast of Hell's power? That thing was way purer than any eye technique Madara's got!"

To Naruto, the wild, overwhelming force Ichigo unleashed felt oddly familiar—like his own Nine-Tails mode. And he was certain that kind of power put Ichigo above someone as smug as Madara.

But what truly set the entire ninja world buzzing wasn't Ichigo himself.

It was the swords.

Those wildly different, unbelievably powerful Zanpakutō.

The ninja world had almost no precedent for blending physical combat and techniques so seamlessly while relying so heavily on a single weapon. Sure, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were famous—but compared to blades that could literally cut souls, their swords felt like scrap metal.

Just as countless worlds were still reeling from Ichigo's eruption of Hell's power, the screen in the void flickered violently.

A new preview crashed down.

The scene opened on something ancient and primal.

On one side: a charred wasteland. On the other: a lush forest of towering trees.

The two extremes were fused together unnaturally, creating an unsettling contrast.

BOOM!

The world shook with a deafening roar.

A massive claw—ancient, monstrous—slammed into the earth.

The ground caved in instantly, like it had been struck by a meteor, collapsing into a bottomless crater. Towering trees and dense forest were dragged into the shadow of that claw, swallowed as if by an invisible force.

Before viewers could even process the sheer pressure radiating from it, the camera cut sharply. The saturation drained from the world, plunging everything into gloom.

Then it appeared.

A dragon.

Not the kind of dragon described in myths. Something far worse.

Its body stretched like a mountain range, so enormous it needed no comparison to make hearts quake. Its head was vaguely draconic, but twisted beyond biology—a grotesque assembly of forms that defied natural law.

What flowed beneath its skin wasn't blood, but a viscous purple substance like molten lava, radiating death.

Each breath it took generated storms violent enough to obliterate everything. Its sheer bulk blotted out the sun, plunging the land from daylight into a suffocating shadow.

Even high-tech filming couldn't capture its full body within the frame.

A single exhale from its nostrils corroded an entire forest into black sludge.

When it shifted its weight, the earth groaned under the strain. Rock shattered like tofu beneath its steps.

Its size was absurd. Its power, immeasurable. Its ancient presence pressed down like eternity itself.

And through the digital barrier of the screen, every viewer could feel it—

That emotionless, pure cruelty in its eyes.

Konoha

"Th-This is insane…"

"The ground—it actually split apart…"

"What even is that thing?! Where did it come from?!"

"That size… even the Nine-Tails wasn't anywhere near this big!"

Even the elite ninja who had survived the Nine-Tails' attack felt fear crawling up their spines again.

Just in terms of scale, this dragon crushed the Nine-Tails beyond comparison. One Nine-Tails had nearly erased Konoha. If this monster descended upon them, maybe only someone on Madara's level could hope to stop it.

Hidden Cloud Village

"…Even our Eight-Tails might not stand a chance."

Raikage A frowned deeply, instinctively comparing the creature to their ultimate weapons—the Tailed Beasts.

Yugito Nii, the perfect Two-Tails jinchūriki, quietly asked the beast within her:

"Between you and that thing… who wins?"

The Tailed Beasts could see the screen too.

Matatabi's voice was grave.

"With that size? Even a Tailed Beast Bomb might not do meaningful damage. If that's the opponent, only a fool would rush in to die."

She almost wanted to smack Yugito upside the head.

Look at it properly. Charging that thing is suicide.

The Akatsuki – Rain Village

Even Nagato was shaken.

He had once believed the Ten-Tails—the husk of the God Tree—to be the largest existence in this dimension.

Now he realized how narrow that thinking had been.

...

The New World – One Piece

"Whoa! That dragon's awesome!!!"

Unlike the ninja world's terror, Luffy's reaction was pure excitement. His eyes sparkled with the thrill of adventure.

"Even that Millennium Dragon we met? Compared to this guy, it'd look like a newborn," Usopp muttered, trembling—but clearly impressed.

Wano – Onigashima

"A dragon, huh? Hahaha! Now that's interesting!"

Kaido of the Beasts tipped back his gourd and roared with laughter, liquor pouring down his throat as wild ambition flared in his eyes.

"If I can find you, maybe my Three Calamities can become Four!"

The moment Kaido saw the dragon, he assumed it was a Mythical Zoan user. Those illogical, rule-breaking traits fit perfectly under that category—after all, he himself was one.

To him, this was a near-perfect war machine.

And he wanted it.

Unlike the ninja world, the One Piece world had giants like Oars and Sea Kings larger than islands. Their threshold for "big" was much higher. They weren't paralyzed by sheer scale alone.

Back on the screen, the camera slowly pulled away from the dragon, drifting toward the depths of the wasteland.

In the distance stood four figures.

Each radiated a different aura, a different primal force.

Silent.

Facing the world-ending dragon head-on.
