Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Spirit Devourer

[Da Power of Waaagh!]

Origin: Altar of Gork and Mork

Quality: Pale Gold

Type: Scroll

Durability: Single-use (Shatters automatically after use)

Effect: Uses the WAAAGH! Field to warp reality, creating an effect similar to a "Wish Granter."

Score: 890 (Note: Pale Gold items range from 500 to 1000. Higher scores indicate greater value.)

Description: Whatever ya fink, jus' dream big. Whether it works or not, leave it to da Boyz.

— From Gork and Mork

It was straightforward and bold, but Kenmei also found it hilarious because there was a line of incredibly tiny text at the bottom. Unless you squinted, you wouldn't even see it.

It read:

"Don't make it too hard fer us. We ain't wish-granting machines."

Kenmei felt like Gork and Mork's message was like a shady merchant hyping up a massive "discount event," only to hit you with the "final interpretation rights reserved" clause once you actually got the goods.

"Da Power of Waaagh!" (I Think Therefore It Is) meant that the more Orks believed in something, the higher the probability of it becoming reality.

But the effect of this scroll skipped the process of convincing the Orks and placed a ready-made WAAAGH! Field directly in front of Kenmei.

[Use Scroll?]

Kenmei placed his hand on the scroll, projected his desire onto it, and clicked "Use."

But after a stalemate...

"Still nothing, huh?"

Kenmei shook his head helplessly. Just now, he had wished to become an Alpha-class Psyker.

Dream on.

An Alpha-class Psyker was one of the most terrifying enemies of the Imperium. A casual auto-attack from them could destroy a planet. They could traverse multiple star systems at will, and at full power, they could tear the fabric of the universe.

Sensing dissatisfaction and a warning coming from the scroll, Kenmei smiled apologetically. He placed his hand on it again and imbued it with his true intention.

This time, the scroll reacted. But the reaction was weak—clearly lacking enough juice.

Just as Kenmei was about to curse, "What kind of trash is this?", he felt like his head was whacked hard from both the front and back by a wooden stick.

Two cold snorts echoed from the void. Then, an extra surge of dense WAAAGH! energy erupted from the scroll out of nowhere, causing the dim parchment to glow with brilliant, iridescent light again.

With the new WAAAGH! energy infused, the effect Kenmei wanted was finally established.

The entire scroll shattered into a stream of green light that flew into Kenmei's body and merged with him completely, replacing the item with a new Talent.

Spirit Devourer: LV.1

Effect 1: When a spell or attack hits a target, there is a 25% chance to absorb enemy energy, restoring 1 to 8 Mana points.

Effect 2: Upon killing a target, permanently steal 0-6 Mana points from the target.

Tip: Effect 2 can increase Max Mana by up to 50 points per natural day.

Seeing these two effects, Kenmei immediately felt that the two bonks on the head were worth it. He wished Gork and Mork would hit him a few more times.

[Spirit Devourer] was incredibly potent. Effect 1 meant Kenmei could restore Mana while fighting, and Effect 2 allowed him to permanently steal Mana from killed enemies, increasing his own Max Mana cap.

The reason Kenmei rarely used psychic spells before was simply a lack of Mana.

Common psychic disciplines included Pyromancy, Biomancy, Telekinesis, Telepathy, Daemonology, Sanctic, and Divination.

Kenmei had currently unlocked Telekinesis.

Activating these spells required high Mana costs. Due to his limited Mana pool, casting even a single spell would drain him dry, so he avoided using them.

With this new Talent, Kenmei now had two Talents.

"Psychic Affinity"

Effect: When the Host's Intelligence increases, Mana is instantly fully restored.

However, Kenmei had used up all his Attribute Points at once because he wanted a thorough upgrade.

The "Spirit Devourer" Talent made Kenmei want to go out right now, even though it was late at night, and find a few lucky Cursed Spirits to have some fun with.

But before that, Kenmei had three more things to process.

Skill: "Soul of the Mek Boss"

 Tier: 1

Description: Dere's dis buncha Boyz who got tech-know-wots naturally in dere noggins. Dese gits are in charge of buildin' all sorts of flashy green skin stuff.

Simply put, Kenmei could now be like a Mekboy, with knowledge of various war machines appearing in his mind.

But to build them, Kenmei had to use Mana to form a WAAAGH! Field. Only within a WAAAGH! Field would scrap metal transform into the shape he wanted.

 Currently Unlocked: Shoota

Kenmei clicked to view the Shoota's stats.

Shoota

 Materials: Steel (3KG), Wood...

 Mana Cost: 500 Points

 Crafting Time: 3 Hours

 Quality: Black Iron

 Damage: 10 ~ 100

Description: The Shoota is the most popular Ork projectile weapon. There is no standard design template; most of these crude weapons are hand-built by Mekboyz.

"One shoota, two shootas, puttin' holes in da enemy."

As the [Soul of the Mek Boss] skill leveled up, more Ork war machines would become available to Kenmei, such as Gorkanauts, Gargants, etc.

Firearms were truly a man's romance. Kenmei had experienced the thrill of firing massive cannons at enemies.

However, Kenmei currently only had 150 Mana points. Even though he had unlocked the blueprint, he couldn't build it and could only stare at it longingly.

Next up was a special type of equipment called a Title. This was Kenmei's first time obtaining one.

According to the Title System description: Wearing a title grants buff effects.

[Tyranid Slayer]

 Origin: Octarius

 Quality: Special

 Type: Title

 Title Effect 1: Strength +3, Mana +100.

Title Effect 2: Tyranids will have an innate fear of you, unable to approach or get close. (Ineffective against high-level Tyranids).

Title Effect 3: Damage dealt to Tyranid monsters increases by +35%.

 Score: Special Item, No Score.

Description: You are a slayer feared by the swarm on the battlefield. This is your reward.

Note: The Host can only equip one Title at a time. You may switch titles after obtaining others.

This title was pretty good, not even mentioning the boost to Strength and Mana.

When Kenmei saw Effect 2, his first thought was whether this meant he wouldn't get bitten by mosquitoes in the summer anymore. Before he had psychic powers, he was constantly harassed by mosquitoes and absolutely hated them.

[Equip Title?]

Kenmei clicked "Equip." With the +3 Strength boost, his Strength attribute jumped to 12 (9+3), and his Mana became 250 (150+100).

Feeling the power within him grow further, a smile appeared on Kenmei's face. Becoming stronger was just this simple and unpretentious.

As for the last item...

[Miracle of the Holy Spirit]
