After explaining everything to Jack, Haruka was feeling embarrassed as Jack was laughing at him a bit too much. He was teasing him all the time right after he heard about Yume.
Right after this incident, he went to sleep. Like an obedient slave to the system where you sleep, wake, study, work, get money, and die. Everyone is a part of it; no one can escape it. The one who realizes too much is the real fool after all.
He slept, as usual, and it was dreamless. He had no dreams at all; even if he had one, it wasn't much of a memorable dream. Dreams are meaningless anyway; they are not true, and they make us happy and sad for no reason—a literal hope-bait that gives up too much hope or none at all. But still, it is one of the things that helps humans to live, especially humans who are too conscious, but he never had a dream that was memorable.
After he woke up, he was scratching his head and wondering what time it was. He saw it was 5 am... He had 3 hours to breakfast and get ready for school. His forehead was hurting a bit too much, over the scar. When he woke up, the first thing to bother him wasn't the pain on his forehead but the fact that he got to school late or early. An obedient one... isn't he?
He then spotted a cockroach on its back that was struggling to stand on its feet.
As usual, he was brushing his teeth, and he went to the washroom. He realized Jack wasn't up yet, so he went to the kitchen and started to cook breakfast. Fried egg with rice. Haruka, to begin with, prefers not eat breakfast, but he eats because he needs energy, of course. He forces himself to eat breakfast every day, food at morning just doesn't taste good to him for some reason. He checked the calendar, and it was January 11... The day he decided to buy a cycle on this day... He has been saving money for this day, and he already said to Jack about it. So today is the day...he wondered.
He got out of the kitchen, and then he saw that Jack was up. He gave Jack breakfast, greeted him with "Good morning," and then he started to leave. Jack asked him why he was leaving so early today. Haruka reminded Jack that today is the day he will buy a bicycle. Jack smiled and nodded, remembering that Haruka had said it before. Haruka got out of the house, and then he started to go to the shop where he saw the bicycle.
Recalling his memory, he kept walking for straight 9 minutes, and then he found the shop, he started to run towards it. He was worried if the cycle was sold out or not, but then again, it doesn't matter to him because he can buy another one. He went to the shop and saw that the bicycle was still on it's place, no one bought it. He went in, handed over the money to the shopkeeper, and then took the bicycle out. He no longer has to waste his money on the bus; he can ride the bicycle and go to school.
He was so happy that each ounce of happiness was visible on his face. He was so happy that he started to chuckle and drive the bicycle, even though it was hard to control at first, but he adapted quickly. He rode faster than necessary, as if he were late for something he couldn't afford to miss, although all that happening is he was going to school.
After going to school, he noticed that Yume was just entering by the gate. He called out for Yume, and Yume looked at him. Seeing him on a bicycle, she rushed towards him. Yume playfully asked him, "Where did you get it, huh? Did you steal it?"
Haruka, with a slight pink blush, said that he bought it today and that he has been saving money to buy this bicycle. Haruka quickly kept the bicycle in the school garage and then went to the classroom, where he found out that Yume was sitting beside him. Seeing that his heart started to beat quickly. He went and sat where he usually sits. Yume came with a smile and sat next to him. Yume looked at Haruka, who usually stared outside the window, now staring at her intently, almost softly.
Yume blushed, and then she looked away from Haruka, trying her best not be obvious, but obvious about what, actually?... Haruka, on the other side, was just thinking as usual, "Why is she so beautiful? How can someone THAT beautiful exist? Isn't that a crime to steal all the beauty and have it by yourself? That's legitimately making others fall for you or be envious of you. Ah, so beautiful... she looks like she is out of my reach, but then again...I have to try..."
While thinking all of that, his face was getting red. But not much. Aurel and others didn't come to school today; they must have bunked school as usual. So he thought that today no one would be there to tease him. He was thinking that after school, what are the fun stuff can he do with his brand-new bicycle?
At lunchtime, Yume came and sat at Haruka's table... She looked him dead in the eyes even though she was blushing herself. She said with a serious tone, "Haruka... You bought a bicycle, and you won't even ask me to ride it with you? A really mannerless kid you are... hmph!"
Haruka's heart once again started to beat faster. It was as if he was nervous or... something else that he really... doesn't know.
