Chapter 2: Chat group?

[Sleeping Ruler is Offline]

[shut-in NEET]: Oi, oi… Did I finally get my cheat skill? Does this mean I'm finally on the glorious path to becoming a harem king and defeating the demon king?

[... ]

[Elven Sniper: Well then… why don't we start by introducing ourselves? I'm sure you've all already processed the information that was just sent to your brains, right?]

[Elven Sniper: I'm Mayumi Saegusa. It's written with the kanji for seven and grass. Pleased to meet you all!]

[shut-in NEET]: Heh, I'm Satou Kazuma. Just your average adventurer… and part-time victim of unreasonable gods.

[The Witch of the Void]: Natsuki Minamiya. I suppose you can call me a teacher… though that's hardly all there is to it.

[Geo Archon]: It's an honor to make your acquaintance. I am Zhongli, consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

[Caped Baldy]: …Saitama.

[Elven Sniper]: I'm impressed. To think something like this exists…

[The Witch of the Void]: I've seen my share of strange phenomena, but this is a first. A connection across worlds—now that's interesting.

[Geo Archon]: Indeed. A device that allows instant conversation with individuals from realms beyond one's own… is a rarity even in the oldest legends.

[Caped Baldy]: So… are you guys strong?

[shut-in NEET]: No, no, no—don't go testing that. They probably can't withstand your punch.

[Caped Baldy]: You… know me?

[shut-in NEET]: If I had to guess, yeah. But let's wait for the admin before we start throwing around questions. That's the usual admin job to answer in cliché chat group.

[Caped Baldy]: I see... Anyway, I'm heading out. The store's having a limited-time sale on beef, and if I'm late, it's gone.

[Caped Baldy is Offline]

[Elven Sniper]: What do you mean by the punch kazuma-kun?

[The Witch of the Void]: From the way he asks that, I suspect he's not referring to some casual spar.

[shut-in NEET]: Oh, you have no idea. Let me put it into perspective—this bald guy here once fought this… uh… crazy martial arts monster guy named Garou. At first, it looked like a normal fight, but then… yeah, it went absolutely off the rails.

[Elven Sniper]: Off the rails?

[shut-in NEET]: I mean literally breaking the planet off the rails. Their punches were so absurdly fast and strong, they shattered the atmosphere, launched themselves into space like it was nothing, and traded blows hard enough to make the planet shake like jelly. Oh, and did I mention Saitama didn't even break a sweat?

[Geo Archon]: …A confrontation of such magnitude… it is something I haven't seen before. That must've been quite a fight

[The Witch of the Void]: Shattering the atmosphere? That's not a "fight," that's a cataclysm.

[Elven Sniper]: Are you serious?

[shut-in NEET]: I was there—well, not there-there, but I've seen what happened. It was like a final boss battle in the middle of a supernova.

[Elven Sniper]: That's… terrifying. I'll make sure never to provoke him.

[The Witch of the Void]: Wise decision. I have some preparations to make, so I'll be off for now.

[The Witch of the Void is Offline]

[Geo Archon]: I must also attend to some important matters.

[Geo Archon is Offline]

[Elven Sniper]: Guess I'll go too. I've got something to do as the school new term are tomorrow.

[Elven Sniper is Offline]

[shut-in NEET]: …Looks like it's just me. Alright, I'm out. Time to find some cabbage quests.

Night

[Sleeping Ruler is Online]

"Hmm... Zhongli, Saitama, Kazuma, Mayumi, and Natsuki-chan huh"

[Sleeping Ruler]: I'm Deeno a normal high school student, nice to meet? Know you..

[Sleeping Ruler]: I will tell this now, I don't know the purpose of this chat group, it's just that I've become the admin.

[Sleeping Ruler is Offline]

Deeno then put down his phone. 'Now that I think about it, the twelfth expansion pack of elder tale will get released in a month huh. Just perfect timing I got nothing to do.'

Elder Tale is a fictional massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It is described as the world's largest and most popular MMORPG in history that has earned a dedicated following of millions of players over the course of its 20-year history. On the Japanese server alone, there are about 100,000 active players who have created some 1,200,000 unique characters.

"It's been almost 11 years since I started playing Elder tale" Deeno muttered. "I'll tell Chika and the others to play when the pack got released to level up and raid new dungeons."

Deeno started playing Elder Tale when he's still young, he saw his adopted father playing it and got curious that before he knows it, he got addicted to it, so much as his adopted mother even scolds his father for being a bad influence.

As it holds a memory of his parents before they passed, for Deeno Elder Tale is a special game that he just can't quit playing. The game operates like most MMORPGs with a level system and eventual skill mastery of character classes and subclasses.

Logging into Elder Tale is similar to all MMORPGS by registering one's username and email address. Then after registering, the gamer begins to create their character. They can adjust their characters' appearance of their own choosing if they want to be of an opposite gender, a character similar to their real-life bodies or an entirely different one.

Deeno created his character with his father, from the looks to classes and subclasses.

Elder Tale wasn't just special to him because of this. It was… something more.

Unlike other MMORPGs that only focused on raids and boss fights, Elder Tale was meticulous in recreating a living, breathing fantasy world. You could become an adventurer who raided dungeons and hunted dragons, sure. But you could also open a shop, sell weapons you forged, brew potions, cook meals that players actually ate in-game.

The detail was insane. NPCs had routines, towns bustled with life, the economy shifted with player actions. Sometimes I wondered if the developers had poured their souls into it—because the world of Elder Tale felt more alive than reality itself. Maybe that was why people stayed. Maybe that was why I stayed.

He even dragged his friends to play it with him, to help him in raids, adventure, seeing many things others has not seen before. He stopped playing when the time his memories come back to him. As he become focused in finding ways to travel back to central world. He just recently got back in playing it again, because of the matter with Nonoa, maybe he realized that he also has important people here too and there's no need to rush as he will probably find a way back.

Then the Chat group appeared, he can only just hope that someone will get invited in central world though.
