Chapter 71 - Kaido Descends — Yamato and Hancock Join Forces Against a Powerful Enemy

For Totto Land, the situation had become nothing short of a nightmare.

That fearsome powerhouse Oven had long since collapsed in a pool of blood, his fate unknown.

Even Smoothie, who had activated her giant form, was being firmly pinned down in a corner of the battlefield by Maria Fang, completely unable to move.

Daifuku wasn't faring any better either—his summoned genie was being brutally beaten back by Sandersonia and Marigold working together, retreating step by step.

As for Cracker, Compote, and the others, each of them was tightly entangled by their respective opponents, with no chance to free up a hand.

Even Perospero, the overall commander, was now being targeted by that treacherous Lafitte, sweating profusely as he struggled to cope.

Even civilians on the Sabaody Archipelago who knew nothing about combat could tell, just from watching the screen, that this battle was unwinnable.

Totto Land's so-called invincible grand fleet had crashed into the iron wall of Wano—and shattered like paper.

Those once-proud Charlotte Family bloodlines had not produced a single person capable of achieving anything resembling a respectable result in this war.

At this rate, the final victor was clearly going to be the Flying General.

What no one had expected was that the process would turn into such a one-sided slaughter.

Just as everyone thought this—

BOOM!

A deafening explosion shook the screen violently. A searing breath attack, hot enough to seem capable of melting steel, came screaming in from the distant horizon.

Although the attack was immediately blocked, the world-destroying aura behind it sent goosebumps rippling across everyone's skin.

An uninvited guest had entered the battlefield.

All eyes widened as they stared in disbelief toward that direction.

A massive azure dragon appeared, coiling through the sky atop blazing flame clouds, exuding suffocating pressure.

And on the sea beneath the dragon, more than a dozen pirate ships bearing that terrifying flag were cutting through the waves.

The ferocious pirates aboard raised their weapons, letting out beastlike roars.

"It's Kaido of the Beasts!!!"

On the Sabaody Archipelago, hysterical screams erupted from the crowd.

Perospero nearly burst into tears at the sight.

Using candy syrup to erect a wall that barely blocked Lafitte's bizarre attacks, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Kaido's forces are here! They've come to save Mama!!"

Hearing this, the Totto Land soldiers—who had already been beaten to the point of despair—saw hope flare back into their eyes.

Like drowning men grabbing the last straw, they stared ecstatically at the reinforcements rapidly approaching across the sea.

"That damned old man!!"

Yamato's entire body erupted in blinding lightning. Electromagnetic cannons fired in unison, instantly blasting the enemies rushing forward into ash.

She didn't spare even a glance for the surrounding fodder, her eyes locked firmly onto the dragon in the sky.

That breath attack just now had clearly been aimed at her!

High above—

Kaido's massive dragon body hovered in the air. In the blink of an eye, countless dark clouds gathered rapidly behind him.

Those icy vertical pupils, devoid of any warmth, swept indifferently across the battlefield below, as if he were looking at insignificant insects.

His gaze lingered for a moment on the distant clash of two terrifying auras, then locked onto the lightning-wreathed figure below.

Whoosh—

The heavens darkened, and violent winds howled.

Wrapped in black clouds and raging gales, thick bolts of lightning coursed wildly along the dragon's colossal body, bursting with dazzling light.

Boom!

Without warning, Kaido canceled his dragon form, transforming back into human shape and plummeting from the sky like a meteor.

The black kanabo was already in his grasp, its swings stirring howling winds and roaring thunder.

Three Worlds' Ragnaraku!!

Thunder Bagua!!

Facing this terrifying attack that made legs go weak just by looking at it, Yamato showed no hesitation.

She clenched her teeth, her Haki surging wildly as she compressed the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit to its absolute limit—and charged straight in!

BOOM!

The two forces collided violently in midair, the resulting shockwave several times more terrifying than the previous Conqueror's clash.

The surrounding air seemed to be sucked dry before exploding into violently churning currents.

Countless charred corpses and unlucky soldiers were swept into the sky like scraps of paper, then blasted away by the ferocious shockwave.

"As expected of my blood—this talent really does take after me!"

Feeling the power of that Conqueror's coating, and seeing how far Yamato had grown, Kaido's face twisted into a satisfied, feral grin.

But his expression changed as quickly as flipping a page.

That satisfaction instantly turned into extreme displeasure and rage.

"What a waste! You carry my blood, yet you're actually willing to stand against me for that bastard Tenma?!"

"Leaving you behind in Wano back then was the biggest mistake I ever made!"

Kaido's regret had reached his bones.

With Conqueror's coating mastered and that terrifying Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Yamato's current strength had already surpassed King's.

The deeper his regret, the fiercer his anger burned.

A far more violent wave of Conqueror's Haki burst from Kaido's body, forcibly pressing Yamato's aura back.

Even though Yamato's strength now surpassed the original timeline and she was barely past twenty—

Compared to Kaido, who had slaughtered his way across the seas for decades, the gap in sheer foundation was still ruthlessly exposed.

"Bastard old man! Tenma is the man I've chosen for my life—and the only one I follow!"

Yamato was forced back step by step, but her eyes remained stubborn and unyielding.

"And I won't allow you, you barbaric ape, to spout such nonsense here either!"

Just as Yamato was about to give out, a breathtaking figure forcibly broke into the clash of their Haki.

Those crimson high heels, carrying queenly authority, kicked hard against Kaido's descending kanabo.

In that instant, an earth-shaking aura exploded outward!

Three streams of Conqueror's Haki intertwined, producing an even more terrifying reaction than before.

The entire world trembled violently.

Not just the howling winds—even the thick clouds in the sky were blown apart by sheer pressure.

The sea churned as if boiling, waves towering sky-high.

The ships below rocked violently, as though they might fall apart at any moment.

In the distance, spectators collapsed in droves, rolling their eyes and losing consciousness.

Most of them were Totto Land soldiers already at the end of their rope.

Working together, the two women forcibly pushed back Kaido's overwhelmingly powerful Conqueror's-coated strike.

Crackle!

A teeth-grating sound of bursting electricity rang out.

The next moment, Yamato's figure appeared ghostlike behind Kaido.

Her kanabo, wrapped in high-voltage lightning, shrieked through the air and smashed down toward Kaido's neck.

Clang!

Kaido didn't dodge at all—he let the blow land squarely on his neck!

The tremendous impact forced his massive body to pitch forward violently.

Thud!

At the same time, Hancock—who had closed in just as instantaneously—delivered a heavy Perfume Femur kick straight into Kaido's abdomen.

The sound was like striking a solid steel plate, dull and oppressive.

That was Armament Haki hard as diamond.

Yet under the combined assault of Conqueror's coating and advanced Ryuo, even this defense wasn't unbreakable.

Kaido felt his insides churn violently as the massive force blasted him backward more than ten meters.

But he quickly stabilized himself in midair and landed heavily on a nearby deck as if nothing had happened.

The monstrous recovery of an awakened Zoan kicked into high gear—the internal damage from moments ago vanished in the blink of an eye.

Kaido looked at Yamato and Hancock standing shoulder to shoulder. His gaze lingered on Hancock for a few seconds longer, and he couldn't help clicking his tongue.

"That bastard Tenma really does have outrageous luck with women."

On the rapidly approaching fleet, Queen's jaw nearly hit the deck.

"Are you kidding me?! Those two women actually knocked the boss back?! Yamato, fine—but this beauty too?! Since when did she get that terrifying?!"

Beside him, Jack's fists clenched until they cracked.

He had fought Yamato as a child. Who would have thought that after just a few years apart, the gap would widen to this extent?

"That's the Empress of Amazon Lily—and one of the Oniwabanshu's trump cards, Boa Hancock."

King narrowed his eyes at the pair, a flicker of uncertainty behind his mask.

"Judging by that polished Conqueror's coating, she's far more dangerous than the intel suggested."

At his order, the Beasts Pirates fleet—bringing tens of thousands of fresh troops—finally pressed up to the edge of the battlefield.

King scanned the entire field with a hawk-like gaze.

He had been mentally prepared from the broadcast, but seeing this completely one-sided carnage in person still made his heart sink.

Even if the Beasts Pirates' elites were all thrown in, it would probably still be impossible to fully turn the tide.

And the artificial Devil Fruit trade line with the Flying General—this time, it was completely severed.

But since this was Kaido's decision, it represented the core will of the Beasts Pirates.

Even if King felt this move was irrational, as the right-hand man of an Emperor, he could only obey without question.

"Bastard old man! This is our war—we don't need the Beasts Pirates sticking their noses in!"

Yamato landed back on the deck, staring at the father she hadn't seen in nearly nine years, her voice devoid of any warmth—filled only with fury.

"There's no such thing as should or shouldn't on the battlefield."

Kaido snorted, steam blasting from his nostrils. "What, you think you can talk your way into persuading me, Yamato?"

Kaido raised his kanabo high once more. Lightning crackled violently as he swung it down at the two women before him.

The blow howled through the air, as if it would shatter space itself.

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion rang out again as the three vastly different figures collided once more.

Centered on the point where their weapons met, a massive visible shockwave exploded outward.

The sea detonated, monstrous waves surging skyward.

Even the surrounding air warped strangely under the pressure.

Nearby, the Beasts Pirates' commanders who had been observing could no longer hold back.

"Brats! It's our turn to take the stage!"

Queen stood atop the bow platform, baring his teeth as he roared with excitement.

"OOOOOOH!!!"

Behind him, thousands of ferocious pirates raised their weapons and bellowed.

Countless Zoan users transformed into savage beast forms, eyes bloodshot as they stared at the battlefield like it was a feast.

King's gaze sharpened, a cold voice emerging from beneath his black steel mask.

"This fight won't be easy. Every one of you—stay sharp!"

To win, they not only had to relieve Totto Land's main forces, but also allow Kaido and Big Mom to join forces against the Flying General.

Only by suppressing that strongest point could the situation possibly be reversed.

Having reached that conclusion, King instantly turned into a black afterimage.

His body burned with blazing flames as he leapt high, sprinting across the sea as if on solid ground, charging straight toward the two women besieging Kaido.

Whoosh!

At that moment, a cyan-green slash wave cut through the air without warning, directly blocking King's path.

The strike was astonishingly fast. Dozens of meters of deck were cleanly split in two, and even the sea itself was cleaved open into a deep trench.

Forced to halt, King—still in his Pteranodon form—looked toward the source of the attack in shock.

What met his eyes was a pair of sharp, soul-piercing golden pupils.

The man holding the Supreme Grade Blade Yoru—

Dracule Mihawk.

Though he bore no title as an Oniwabanshu ace, his strength was more than sufficient. He was one of the three top great swordsmen under the strongest general of the Land of Samurai.

"Bounty: 1.39 billion Beli. The Beasts Pirates' lead All-Star."

Mihawk fixed his gaze on King, his eyes finally settling on the blade at King's waist.

"A powerful swordsman I've never crossed blades with in the New World. From the start of this war, I've been waiting for you."

King had no choice but to stop. The sense of danger emanating from this man was overwhelming.

He suddenly caught the implication in Mihawk's words, his eyes narrowing.

"What do you mean, 'waiting'?"

Only then did he realize a detail he had overlooked.

The Beasts Pirates had arrived in great force. Even if they couldn't flip the table instantly, they were still a massive fresh army—an Emperor-level reinforcement.

Yet Wano's side showed no surprise at all. Their morale hadn't even wavered.

"Who knows?"

Mihawk clearly had no intention of explaining.

His battle intent surged, carrying an irresistible, razor-sharp sword aura as he charged forward.

With the Beasts Pirates' full intervention, the chaos of the battlefield escalated instantly, drawing countless eyes.

"Looking around during a fight—are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

The moment Black Maria slightly lost focus, a furious roar exploded beside her ear.

A longsword carrying immense force slashed down with a howling gale.

"That's only because you haven't given me even a little pressure."

Black Maria sneered lightly and flicked her finger.

A web—both hard and incredibly sticky—shot out, actually knocking the incoming sword back.

The next instant, the alloy-tech knuckle-dusters on her hands ignited with raging flames. Wrapped in Haki, she threw a devastating punch.

Smoothie's face changed drastically as she instinctively raised her sword to block.

Flames raced along the web, instantly burning away the sword's moisture-extracting ability.

Then, a terrifying force like a flash flood transmitted through the blade.

Smoothie couldn't keep her footing—she slid backward several meters across the deck and slammed heavily into a mast, bending the thick timber.

Maria Fang didn't pursue immediately. Instead, she smiled sweetly and mocked her.

"I'm nothing more than a tea-serving geisha by Lord Tenma's side. Who would've thought I could press down Totto Land's famous second-in-command Sweet Commander?"

The sarcasm was absolute—truly a blow meant to kill the spirit.

"I originally planned to play with you a little longer, but it seems the Beasts Pirates' reinforcements really did arrive as planned. In that case, I suppose it's time for me to get a bit serious."

"What did you say?!"

Ignoring the pain, Smoothie scrambled up and hastily pulled back.

A realization struck her, and her expression turned ashen.

"Did you really think Totto Land, as it is now, was qualified to wage a full-scale war against us?"

Maria Fang licked her lips alluringly, her smile dripping with mockery.

"That so-called alliance of yours? We've known about it from the very beginning. And from the start, this war was never aimed at you."

"Of course, it wasn't aimed at Kaido either. You were just a cake waiting to be divided. As for them—mere competitors to be cleaned up along the way."

As she spoke, Maria Fang's half-spider, half-human Rosamygale Grauvogeli form began to undergo even stranger changes.

This was a deeper layer of Devil Fruit power—Awakening.

She reverted to a tall, seductive human form—but now completely different from before.

Her off-shoulder kimono transformed into a layer of purple-black carapace armor. Web-like patterns appeared on her forehead, half her face covered in chitin.

Beneath her eyes, four additional small eyes sprouted, rolling restlessly.

From behind her armor grew three pairs of sharp purple-black spider legs, while her arms turned into spear-like blades wrapped in a chilling purple-black glow.

Seeing this, Smoothie sucked in a sharp breath and forced out a few words.

"…Devil Fruit awakening."

"Correct—but no prize!"

Maria Fang's voice became slightly distorted.

Her tall figure moved like lightning as she lunged straight at Smoothie.

Eight spear-like limbs danced wildly, every strike carrying terrifying venom and the adhesive power of spider silk.

With the physical boost from her awakening, Smoothie was beaten into utter disarray, completely unable to fight back.

In just a few exchanges, several wounds were already punctured across her body.

They didn't look deep—but Smoothie's skin was already rapidly discoloring into a horrifying mix of green, purple, and black.

After only a few minutes of combat, Smoothie felt her body stiffen as she was utterly defeated.

Although her Wring-Wring Fruit could expel toxins, Maria Fang had injected powerful paralytic venom first—giving her no chance to do anything at all.
