Morning came too quickly.
Jiwon stood in front of a plain gray building with a small sign near the entrance.
Gate Management Bureau.
He adjusted his jacket and walked inside.
The lobby was quiet. A few hunters sat waiting, some injured, some exhausted. When Jiwon approached the counter, the staff member glanced at his ID, then at him again.
"Third floor. Room 312."
The room was small. A table. Two chairs.
A woman in a dark suit sat across from him. Her hair was tied neatly, expression calm.
"Han Jiwon," she said. "I'm Inspector Lim."
She didn't offer a handshake.
"We'll keep this simple," she continued. "You awakened as a necromancer yesterday. Correct?"
"Yes."
"You entered a dungeon within hours of awakening."
"Yes."
She tapped her tablet lightly. "Most new hunters hesitate. You didn't."
Jiwon remained silent.
Inspector Lim looked at him for a moment, then spoke again.
"Necromancers are rare. And unstable. Many lose control early."
"I didn't," Jiwon replied.
She nodded slightly. "We noticed."
A window appeared in Jiwon's vision.
[External Surveillance Detected]
[Remain calm]
Inspector Lim continued, unaware.
"We are not here to restrict you," she said. "Not yet."
Her words lingered.
"Your activity will be monitored," she added. "If you remain stable, there will be benefits. Access. Information. Support."
"And if I don't?" Jiwon asked.
Her eyes met his.
"Then we intervene."
Silence filled the room.
Inspector Lim stood. "You're free to go."
Jiwon left without another word.
Outside, the city felt different. Like something had shifted.
A new message appeared.
[Status Update]
[Observation Level: Active]
Jiwon exhaled slowly.
"So I'm being watched," he muttered.
A familiar presence stirred behind him.
He turned.
The skeleton stood silently in his shadow, unmoving.
Jiwon looked ahead.
If eyes were on him now…
Then he would make sure they saw something worth watching.
