Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Meeting with the Evil God D

Seeing the murderous look on the other party, Kumoko's forehead dripped with sweat. She flailed her limbs, shaking her head frantically: "Stop! Stop... Wait, let's talk this over properly."

[Kumoko: "Group Leader, come save me! Someone's trying to kill a spider!"]

[World's No. 1 Princess: "Alright, Kumoko, I'll intervene, don't worry."]

Receiving Group Leader's reply, the panicked Kumoko inwardly sighed in relief.

However, the cold sweat on her forehead still slowly trickled down, from her forehead all the way to her chin.

Kumoko wasn't without thoughts of fighting back, but... being locked down by some kind of energy, it was difficult for her to even move.

Watching the tall man opposite her emit a scorching beam of light from his palm, aiming it at her.

Kumoko was terrified, and couldn't help but close her eyes.

"Group Leader, if you don't come soon, your cute little spider will be finished!"

"Stop mumbling, I'm already here."

Beryl extended her finger and lightly flicked the light beam aimed at Kumoko, trapping it at her fingertip, where it transformed into a spherical ball of light.

Then she snapped her fingers.

The spherical energy orb dissolved into scattered points of light.

"So... so amazing," Kumoko opened her eyes, just in time to see Beryl effortlessly compress the enemy's light beam into a ping-pong ball-sized energy pellet, and then casually dissipate it.

She couldn't help but swallow.

The attack that posed a fatal threat to her was gone in an instant.

"##$@^%^%#..." Güliedistodiez spoke in a language that Kumoko didn't understand, his eyes showing a wary look.

"How troublesome, a language barrier." Beryl casually tapped the space in front of her a few times.

Before long, Kumoko, who previously couldn't understand Güliedistodiez, could now understand him.

"Leader, what kind of method is this?" Kumoko asked, puzzled.

"Just a small, bidirectional translation device, nothing major," Beryl didn't hide it.

"There's such a thing? But Leader, you just tapped a few points in mid-air, you didn't do anything!" Kumoko didn't know where to begin complaining.

"When your power reaches a certain level, it's easy to create convenient little things."

"Alright."

Kumoko still wanted to say something, but Beryl waved her hand, signaling her to be quiet.

Her gaze fell on Güliedistodiez in his black armor, and Beryl smiled slightly: "I'm going to protect this Little Spider. You don't have a problem with that, do you?"

"Who are you?" Güliedistodiez's expression was grave. He hadn't expected that the white-haired girl in the white dress in front of him could so easily block his attack, even if not at full power, it was not something that the system on this planet could measure.

"Shiraori's friend. Are you satisfied with that answer?"

"Shiraori?" Güliedistodiez frowned slightly. "Is that the name of this spider?"

"Group Leader, who is Shiraori? My name isn't Shiraori, my name is Wakaba Hiiro." Kumoko was a bit confused why her Group Leader would get her name wrong.

"Is that so... Then I forgot. Shiraori, or Shiro, is your future name." Beryl chuckled nonchalantly.

"Eh? No, that can't be!"

"Oh? A future name, that's quite interesting. But more than the little spider, I'm more curious about your name, outsider."

A square-screen mobile phone dropped to the ground.

The moment the voice sounded, Güliedistodiez's serious expression subtly changed.

Clearly, he knew the owner of this voice.

And Kumoko was startled by the unexpected voice coming from the phone.

She quickly leaned closer behind Beryl.

"Who, who is it?"

"The God who sent you to this world. I've told you before, you shouldn't be unfamiliar with her."

"Eh?" Kumoko's eight spider legs flailed wildly, her face pale with fright. "Th-that's the one, the God the Group Leader said she might not be able to defeat?"

Beryl slapped Kumoko's forehead with her palm, her face darkening: "Could you not say that in public? I have a reputation to uphold."

"S-sorry." Kumoko seemed to realize her mistake, apologizing profusely, "Group Leader, may you live a long life, be invincible across the universe, and unify all under heaven."

"Stop talking, I'm worried I might not be able to resist killing you." Beryl was speechless.

"O-okay." Kumoko shivered.

Beryl extended a finger and lightly flicked.

Not far away, the mobile phone on the ground flew towards her.

Taking the red-rimmed phone, Beryl said faintly: "Nice to meet you for the first time, administrator of this universe, Evil God D, or rather Wa..."

"Oh my, a name is just a designation, no need to be so concerned about it." A voice came from the phone, interrupting Beryl, though Beryl didn't seem to have intended to finish speaking anyway.

"I'm protecting the little spider, is that alright?" Beryl's words were concise and to the point.

"That won't do. I'm also very fond of this little spider. Her future name is Shiraori, right? Then I'll call her Shiro. I have high hopes for Shiro!" The distinctly feminine voice from the phone continued, "Since you know about me, you should also know the little spider's identity."

"So, I need to pay more?"

"Exactly, as expected of a foreign God, truly quick-witted."

Evil God D's voice from the phone was calm and unhurried.

"She calls you Group Leader... Heh heh, how about inviting me into your group?" Evil God D continued, "I'm very interested in your method of traversing the universe."

"That's not an equal exchange." Beryl narrowed her eyes. "I can invite you to join, but not now. How about after Shiraori becomes human?"

"Become human? You really dare to think big, or have you seen the future and have great confidence in her?"

Becoming human implies achieving godhood.

Evil God D was very clear about Kumoko's identity, and precisely because she was so clear, she was a bit surprised.

"Don't you want to see it? You've done quite a lot to send Kumoko here."

"Hmph, if it were before, perhaps. But... now I'm more interested in you."

The surrounding space trembled slightly, and then a spatial gate materialized.

Seeing the girl standing outside the spatial gate, Beryl chuckled softly:

"If we can't agree, you're going to use force? Is that wise? You should be able to tell that I'm just an energy projection here. What's the point of defeating me?"

"Moreover, you might not even win."

To be honest, Beryl didn't care too much about the Evil God D.

Reincarnating souls from one planet to another planet and creating a planet-wide system was something she herself could do.

But this was the universe where Kumoko lived, and she didn't want to make an enemy of such a God.

"Higher God, Evil God D!"

After the girl wearing the cat-faced mask emerged, Güliedistodiez tensed up completely.

No one knew better than him how terrifying this unpredictable Higher God was. In Güliedistodiez's opinion, Evil God D acted purely on whims.

He hadn't expected that merely coming to eliminate a little spider who killed his kin would not only involve an unknown powerful God but also Evil God D.

"If I had known this little spider had such a profound background, I would never have gotten involved in this mess."

Güliedistodiez was genuinely worried now that Evil God D might just blow up the planet.

Güliedistodiez still had deep affection for the planet of his birth.

Even if Evil God D didn't blow up the planet, if two seemingly equal Gods were to fight, the lifespan of the planet beneath his feet might also end prematurely.
