Chapter 6 - 6. Leaving the underground city

Being blasted free from the stone shell was like being reborn. Her clothes were still intact, neatly worn on her body, and nothing untoward had happened.

Daisy didn't care if the foul air here would give her pneumoconiosis. She patted herself all over, checking that all her facial features were present, her limbs weren't missing, and the inhuman defect she had vaguely worried about hadn't manifested in her.

Perhaps this defect was hidden deeper? She comforted herself.

She felt light and comfortable, as if a heavy burden of several dozen pounds had been lifted. She clenched her fist and felt her current strength. Not only was it stronger than her previous female body, but it was even more powerful than her male body in her past life.

Her physique remained slender, no different from before. However, a brand new vitality emanated from her cells, significantly increasing her speed, reaction time, and stamina.

Her methods of exerting force and her techniques were still unrefined, but her physical fitness was already on par with rigorously trained warriors. This entire process had only taken ten minutes.

The Terrigen Mist had brought about earth-shattering changes in her. From her cells to her internal organs, blood, lymph, and bones, her entire body had been reborn.

Physical enhancement could only be considered a bonus; her superpower was the key. Daisy carefully experienced her new ability. This bloodline activation ritual was pretty much as she had estimated. The stone door didn't open automatically. Perhaps there was a switch somewhere outside, but she was alone now and could only open a path from the inside.

Reality wasn't a game; a new icon wouldn't automatically appear just because she gained a superpower, allowing her to activate an ability by pressing a certain key.

A superpower offered a possibility, but how much it could be developed depended on the individual.

Theoretically, ordinary people could participate in all Olympic events, but how many could actually do so? Without training, very few could achieve it.

Superpowers also needed research, development, and training to become a unique skill.

Daisy carefully sensed the anomaly within her body—that was her vibration superpower. It wasn't a form of energy. It was like her normal body could run, jump, and walk, but now she had an additional mode: she could make objects vibrate.

Following her marks, she found the direction she had come from and reached out to touch the massive rock in front of her.

She wasn't sure if she could vibrate open a half-meter-thick stone door. If her power was too weak, she wouldn't get out. If it was too strong, Daisy feared she would collapse the entire underground city.

"Buzz." Her first attempt failed. The stone door didn't move an inch, and her vibration was drawn back into herself before it even entered the door.

This wasn't her consciously retracting the ability, but some subconscious force at play.

Try again! She reached out and started vibrating once more.

Daisy tried to recall the little physics knowledge she had. She remembered that all objects had their own vibration frequencies, and by finding that frequency, she could destroy the stone door.

She searched and searched and finally found the stone door's frequency. She adjusted herself, achieving resonance.

After only two vibrations, she felt sore all over. This ability was a bit of a double-edged sword, harming both the enemy and herself. However, her inherent tenacity gained the upper hand, suppressing the discomfort as she diligently adjusted the frequency.

"Crack!" "Crack!" Cracking sounds echoed, and she quickly stopped.

The vibration zone was a bit large, encompassing the entire stone door. Daisy couldn't guarantee that the door collapsing wouldn't cause a chain reaction. If the other five stone doors were affected and the temple collapsed, she could start preparing for her next transmigration.

She stared at the cracks on the stone door, studying them for a while. She found the most severely damaged spot and began her third vibration.

This time, she restricted the vibration zone to a very small area. Although the requirement for precision increased, the burden of the counter-vibration on her body was also reduced.

Hold on, a little slower. Reduce the range, be gentler. She kept cheering herself on.

"Thud." With a dull thud, one-third of the stone door completely shattered. Daisy didn't care how much harm the dust would do to her body and quickly rushed out.

After checking the marks on the ground,

she quickly ran back the way she came.

The return journey was naturally pitch black, with no obelisks providing illumination. However, all her five senses had been enhanced, allowing her to vaguely see some paths in the darkness. Her improved hearing and sense of direction ensured she maintained a straight line while running.

Most women's sense of direction is weaker, but this flaw was now compensated. Although she wasn't as sensitive as Daredevil, it was more than enough in this three-meter-wide, two-meter-high passage.

Her steps were light, and her running was powerful, as if her entire body was filled with strength. Even without professional running training, Daisy believed her current speed was no less than that of professional athletes.

Moreover, she had more stamina and explosive power than athletes.

To reduce her load and increase her speed, she discarded all unnecessary supplies.

Daisy was terrified that the sound of the underground city collapsing—what with seawater flooding in or self-destruct devices activating—would come any second. It wasn't that she was scaring herself; it was just that such scenarios appeared too often in movies. She didn't dare stop for a single step.

Relying on her ample stamina and tenacious character, she covered the three-day journey in just one day, running along the original path back to the watchtower.

"Movies really are all lies..." She sat on the ground, panting and muttering.

The watchtower was still incredibly dirty. She didn't linger, tidied up her backpack, changed into summer clothes to appear less out of place, and slowly walked out.

Back at the hotel, she first enjoyed a hot shower. Wearing a bathrobe and with her hair pinned up, Daisy looked at her reflection in the mirror.

Her eyes were bright with a hint of stubbornness, her nose bridge was high, and her skin was a shade finer. European skin was generally not good, but now her bloodline seemed to have pushed her a step towards an East Asian appearance.

At the same time, her legs had grown by one centimeter... Daisy's height was previously 1.7 meters, now it was 1.71 meters.

Back in the bedroom, she took out her laptop and searched for local information. She found no negative news related to herself, only a communication from the San Juan police department internally asking for help in finding her estranged parents.

Daisy lay on the bed, beginning to ponder her future path.

The hacker profession was dismissed immediately. The original Daisy hadn't achieved much in that field, and the golden age of hackers was over. Being a lone cyber vigilante was purely Seeking death. Moreover, the most important things for a hacker, besides technical skill, were ideas. She wasn't her predecessor and didn't possess those ideas; imitating her would definitely not end well.

Her vibration superpower was her foundation.

During her return journey, she ran and experimented, applying her vibration ability to the soles of her feet. This allowed her to run with a bouncing motion, which looked a bit comical, but indeed significantly increased her speed.

And as she continuously ran, transitioning from unfamiliar to proficient, her precise control over her superpower also gradually strengthened
