Chapter 69 - a day

A few days later, Keifer and Jay drove to the Watson estate, where Jasfer was waiting.

Jay's fingers fiddled lightly with the hem of her sleeve, a mix of curiosity and nervousness in her eyes.

"Are you ready?" Keifer asked, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.

"As ready as I'll ever be," she replied, smiling softly.

When they arrived, Jasfer greeted them warmly at the door. His smile was bright, but there was a subtle nervousness in his eyes, the kind that comes with introducing a new chapter in one's life.

"Jay, Keifer, I'm so glad you're here," he said.

Jay bowed slightly, polite and respectful.

"Dad… it's good to see you."

Jasfer nodded, then gestured to a tall, elegant woman standing beside him.

"This is my wife," Jasfer said softly. "Everyone, meet Lara."

Jay extended her hand, smiling warmly.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Jasfer."

Lara took it gently, a kind smile on her face.

"Please, call me Lara. I've heard so much about you."

Jay relaxed immediately, sensing no tension, only genuine warmth.

Keifer stayed close to her side, his arm brushing hers lightly.

He watched the exchange quietly, protective but calm.

Jasfer's smile widened.

"I wanted you two to meet properly. It's important to me… that everyone feels comfortable."

Jay nodded, her heart softening.

"Of course, Dad. I'm happy for you."

Lara glanced at Keifer with a small, polite nod.

"And you must be Keifer. Jasfer has told me a lot about you too."

Keifer only smiled faintly.

"Nice to meet you."

Jay leaned slightly toward him, a quiet anchor amidst the formalities.

The conversation flowed naturally after that—polite introductions, light laughter, stories from the past few months.

By the end of the visit, Jay and Keifer both felt a quiet peace.

Jasfer was happy.

Lara was kind.

And their little family, though changed, was finding its rhythm again.

As they left, Jay whispered softly to Keifer,

"Dad seems… truly happy."

Keifer smiled, his arm around her shoulder.

"And that makes me happy too."

Outside, the car drove away, leaving behind the laughter and warmth of a new beginning.
