A handsome teenager with short black hair and purple eyes stared quietly at the large screen which has began to play his whole life in the nineteen years he spent on earth. Soon tears began dripping down his face as the scenes of his past life unfolded in front of him...
Earth.....
The bustling city of Los Angeles stood tall, proud and daring as always. Winter had just set in, with the city welcoming its first snow the previous night which made the evening a chilly one. As always, the streets of LA were busy and traffic's were running their daily shift with the roads most known three colours. The air around was filled with a pleasant snowy smell, coupled with the noisy atmosphere presenting the city in its usual Los Angeles way.
Julian breathed in deeply and glanced at the mask people seated on his both sides and looked back at the black pistol in his hands and breathed out loudly attracting the attention of a few and prompting them to look in his direction.
"You are nervous Lian" one of the masked individuals seated right beside Lian said in a low tone only the two of them could hear. "Of course I'm supposed to be. It's not like we're attending a party or something" he said and adjusted his shirt as if he was hot.
Although Julian has operated in a thug-way for three years since he turned sixteen, he only operated on the streets and in small scale. Robbing a bank with heavy weapons was something he was new to. "Chill man, we're not going on killing spree. We just enter, pick up some bucks and get out. That's it" The masked guy known as Moses replied. "You make it sound like breathing" Julian muttered and slid his head into a black mask that covered his entire head and face leaving only his pink lips.
"Remember we're doing this for Ariana" Moses patted his shoulder before picking up his black M-16. Julian graoned and adjusted his gun with a renewed determination. Just the mere mention of the person he cherishes the most kindled something in him. 'Ariana' he thought. How was she doing at the moment?;The pain she was going through! Will she be able to have the surgery? And even if she did, will it be successful? All these and similar questions run through his head but he shrugged them aside for the mean time to focus on the important task that lay ahead. Though the path he has chosen to get the money was too far unpleasant, he didn't have any choice. Julian and his sister had lost both their parents in a car accident when he was just eight.
He endured the unpleasant experience of watching his parents bleed to death which left him stiff and cold hearted, growing up.
He was only able to gain a little of humane side like loving and lost the rest like trusting. Despite the love and care he received from the orphanage, he trusted only four people in his life: Ariana his lover, Wendy his sister, Moses his best friend and Portia the dean of the orphanage. These are the people he had grown to trust and love in his whole nineteen years alive, of course excluding his parents who died long ago. Less than 24 hours ago she was in his arms and they happily made their first memory together and hours latter he had to go through the bitterness of being rejected loans to save his lover.
The only thing the orphanage could to to help him was pay for the little to sustain her for the surgery that could save her or potentially kill her. 'Life indeed as they say is unfair' he had thought. What did he do to deserve this? Why would he be the one to be seperated from those he ever loved
He had done everything he could to save her but it was all for naught. The hospital wouldn't also perform the surgery unless at least half of the payment was made and right now he was left with one choice, running against time.
"We move in ten" A commanding voice broke Julian out of his daze. He was determined that no matter what, he had to save Ariana. He breathed deeply, raised his gun and inspected it. "Eight, seven, six…" the count down echoed in the background as he focused on the task ahead. "Three, two, one…..now!" Julian and the entire group jumped out of the black Van and ran towards a building with the inscription 'Los Angeles Central Bank'. One of the masked people pushed the transparent glass entrance open allowing his colleagues to enter easily. The leader of the group was the one to enter last and by the time he entered, the bank was halfway through subjugation with people lying down face flat and the room filled with shouts and noise. The leader raised his gun and fired three continuous shots "This is a 10 minute robbery. Everybody cooperate with us and you're going to be fine. I promise" Despite the chaos inside the bank, not even a pin of noise could be heard outside due to the heavy in built bulletproof and noise proof glass.
"No shout, no noise. Let's do this nice and gently and in 10 minutes you will not even know we were here. Of course we can do it the other way if you want to" as soon as the masked leader finished these lines, the room descended into total silence and only the heavy breaths of people could be heard.
Three of the armed people came out of the inner part of the room with two having their guns pointed against security guards and one with his gun pointed to the head of a middle aged man who was the governor of the bank. They two security men were pushed onto the floor to join the other securities that were lying on the floor face down. "I assume you're the governor, no?" the leader of the group asked the middle aged man and he nodded with in unfazed look. "Good, I need access to the vault in the next minute. After one minute, every ten seconds you delay will be at the cost of a hostage's life." The room descend into noise for a few seconds before going back to being like a cemetery. "Your time starts now" The leader finished and stood there idly watching the man.
The governor slowly made his way to the vault with a conflicted look. The leader of the robbers made a head gesture to Julian signaling him to follow the others to the vault.
