As a Ultraman, Evan Bailey had been taught since childhood to trust his own strength and the feedback of his Light Energy. That feedback was clear and steady, leaving him no reason to doubt the Egg System. Because of this, he accepted the strange existence without hesitation.
After listening to the Egg System explain itself, Evan Bailey gained a basic understanding of what the System was. It existed somewhere between fantasy and reality, which allowed it to perform unusual feats. However, it could only function by attaching itself to a host.
Once the Egg System bound itself to him, it provided two beginner items. One was the Egg Detector, which could detect the locations of all Reward Egg within a certain range. The other was the Egg Smashing Hammer that came with the System, a tool made specifically to smash Reward Egg, with the sole trait of being unbreakable.
After the System activated, Reward Egg also appeared inside the Spatial Turbulence. Most of those eggs were located in extremely dangerous spots, surrounded by large and small Spatial Storm. Evan Bailey could barely avoid those areas, let alone rush in headfirst to pick up eggs.
On top of that, a Reward Egg could only be smashed after it was picked up, otherwise it could not be used at all. Perhaps because the Spatial Turbulence was so dangerous, none of the refreshed eggs were below the gold level, and there were quite a few of them. Evan Bailey could only look at them with envy, since actually taking them was out of the question.
Later, Evan Bailey discovered another use for these Reward Egg. They could be used to predict danger. The moment a high level Reward Egg appeared on the detector, he would immediately detour, because a major threat always came with such an egg.
Because of this cautious method, Evan Bailey managed to avoid danger and survive inside the Spatial Turbulence for quite some time. However, this could not last forever. His Light Energy was close to being completely drained.
Once his Light Energy was fully exhausted, the outcome would not change. Whether he degraded into a human form or turned into stone, the end waiting for Evan Bailey would still be death. After intense inner struggle, he decided to take one final risk.
After searching carefully, he found a Supreme Egg. The Spatial Storm around it were extremely violent, and a single loss of balance could trigger an explosion of spatial power that would tear through the spatial barrier. With the last of his Light Energy, Evan Bailey attacked the Spatial Storm and successfully set them off.
The burst of spatial power shattered the barrier, and Evan Bailey was thrown out of the Spatial Turbulence as he had hoped. The violent displacement felt uncomfortable, but he endured it. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a completely unfamiliar world, which was the world he was in now.
He did not know where this place was, but compared to the Spatial Turbulence, the environment here was clearly much better. That was the full story of how Evan Bailey met the Egg System and how he crossed into this world. By now, he had already been here for five days.
During those five days, Evan Bailey gained a basic understanding of this world. His own condition, however, was not very good. The most serious problem was that his Light Energy had been completely drained.
Fortunately, he had regressed into his human form, which at least kept him alive even though he could no longer transform. The Light Energy in this world was abundant, but absorbing it was extremely difficult, as if it were frozen in place. By his estimate, it would take at least a year to gather enough power to transform, and even then it would be consumed very quickly.
Another problem was that he had no proper identity and could only wander the streets. Luckily, the beings of this world were also human, and no one noticed that Evan Bailey was a visitor from another world. Since this was his second transmigration, his mental age far exceeded his appearance, allowing him to take care of himself without trouble.
Overall, the five days passed reasonably well. Although he had no identity and no money, Evan Bailey had formed his human body directly rather than possessing one. At his core, he was still a Ultraman, so he did not need to worry about starving, as simply standing in the sunlight was enough to sustain him.
He could not help but sigh at how convenient this aspect of being a Ultraman was. While learning about this world, Evan Bailey also searched for newly refreshed Reward Egg. Compared to the Spatial Turbulence, the quality and quantity of eggs in the city called Cloud City were far worse.
Having grown used to seeing diamond Reward Egg everywhere in the Spatial Turbulence, Evan Bailey felt a clear sense of disappointment toward the eggs in Cloud City. That feeling even extended to the city itself. During this period, most of what he collected were black iron Reward Egg, with only two bronze eggs mixed in.
These eggs usually appeared near stray dogs or cats. The difference was that the dogs near bronze eggs were slightly stronger. In the end, Evan Bailey simply knocked them out with the Egg Smashing Hammer and carried the eggs away.
The items obtained from these eggs were all daily necessities or cheap trinkets. The cigarettes he smoked and the clothes he wore had both come from eggs, and none of it was worth much. As for the higher level Reward Egg, they were either in the homes of powerful people or on their bodies, guarded closely, and Evan Bailey did not dare to barge in.
Although a Ultraman in human form retained one percent of their transformed strength, Evan Bailey was not particularly strong even after transforming. He was only a child of a little over two thousand years, and in human form his power was even more limited. This world was far from an ordinary one.
The diamond Reward Egg in front of him now was the only one he had encountered during this entire time. Its refresh location had been on that woman's chest. Both the woman herself and the position of the egg were extremely dangerous, and after acting on impulse, Evan Bailey had nearly felt his heart jump out of his throat.
Fortunately, perhaps because he looked like a child, the woman did not think too much about it. That allowed Evan Bailey to succeed. Now, he stared at the diamond Reward Egg in front of him, a diamond egg that looked as if it had been carved from crystal and was almost blinding to look at.
He pulled out a hammer nearly the size of his own head from the System space and weighed it in his hand. This was the Egg Smashing Hammer given by the System. It was entirely golden and set with gems, looking more like an art piece than a tool.
After lining up the Egg Smashing Hammer with the diamond egg, Evan Bailey raised the hammer high. "King of Ultra, bless me!" he shouted. With that, he swung the Egg Smashing Hammer down with all his strength.
There was a loud bang. Colorful fireworks burst out as usual, creating the feeling of hitting a jackpot, and the effect was even more brilliant than when smashing black iron or bronze eggs. A flash of golden Light Energy appeared and then faded away, revealing what was inside.
Evan Bailey leaned forward eagerly to look. When he saw the item clearly, his expression froze. "It's a diamond egg, and you give me this piece of junk?"
Inside the broken shell lay something that looked like a handheld game console. Next to it was an instruction slip that introduced it as a handheld device from a game company, loaded with various monster collecting games, encouraging the user to work hard to become a master trainer.
