Chapter 26 - RUN AWAY

"No, I—I can't do this…" I heard her stammer.

Her voice shook so badly it scraped against the walls of the private dining room. She took a few unsteady steps back, her heels nearly slipping against the polished marble floor.

"Grandpa… I'm not feeling well. I think I'll take my leave first. I'll definitely come back another time. I'm so sorry."

And then she ran.

She didn't look at me.

She didn't look at anyone.

The door shut behind her, leaving silence in her wake.

The elder Mr. Norton let out a sharp, unimpressed breath. "So that's the girl you chose?" he sneered. "She's rude. No manners."

I felt my jaw tighten.

"I wouldn't have brought her here if you hadn't been pressuring me every single day," I replied coldly.

His eyes widened. "You're no better than her!"
