Feeling guilty, Chi Xiu bypassed her and sat down next to Xue Qinghe. Xue Qinghe put down her teacup and subtly sniffed.
"What brings you here, Brother Xue?"
"Ah, it's like this. I was asked by Pope Bibi Dong of the Spirit Hall to pass on a message. She admires you quite a bit, Brother Chi, and wants to ask if you'd be willing to join the Spirit Hall?"
Chi Xiu didn't respond immediately. He looked at Xue Qinghe, thinking of something else:
"Uh, I heard Her Majesty the Pope is still looking for a child?"
Xue Qinghe nodded: "It seems so. She's been searching for six years, day after day."
Chi Xiu took a deep breath, his eyes flickering: "I'm sorry, it might be a waste of His Highness's time. I don't want to join the Spirit Hall for now..."
Xue Qinghe was taken aback, then smiled: "It's alright, I'm just passing on a message. But please don't spread what we discussed today, Brother Chi."
"Okay."
"Are you finished?"
Ning Rongrong leaned over, looking at the two of them with a charming expression.
Xue Qinghe nodded.
Ning Rongrong squeezed between her and Chi Xiu, her small hand naturally grasping Chi Xiu's. This detail was keenly observed by Xue Qinghe, who hesitated for a moment, then awkwardly moved away.
"Chi Xiu, I want you to come with me to Shrek Academy tomorrow,"
Ning Rongrong said, troubled.
