Nimo, because of his ability to collect rare treasures, was quite well known among the awakeners. His wealth had even caused some weeks with infamous reputations to keep their eyes on him. Moreover, after the rumors of him getting poison started to spread, the hawkers who were after his wealth and treasure started to keep an eye on his whereabouts.
This group of three awakeners were the same, led by a burly-looking middle-aged man with one of his eyes missing.
Hearing the words of his subordinate, the man chuckled coldly. "Just find him. Whoever among the two of you finds that rat Nimo first, I will let him take all of the Star Crystals..."
The two underlings' eyes widened in surprise. They looked at the burly man as if they had seen a ghost.
If this man was really their boss, the One-Eyed Demon...
One-Eyed Demon looked at the reaction of his underlings and snorted in disdain. This time he was really serious; after all, what he wanted was not Nimo's Star Crystals but something more precious which even the money cannot buy.
Just as they continued to search, soon they found the small cave in which Lukas was hiding.
Suddenly the eyes of one of the underlings lit up. One-Eyed Demon raised his hand; immediately the two underlings' excitement died down.
The fact that three of them were young in a place where most die young spoke volumes about their ability. Compared to how they behaved, the three were top-notch when it came to surviving under tough conditions.
"Little Jack, use your talent..." One-Eyed Demon ordered in a cold voice.
At his command, one of the underlings with a height no more than five feet nodded his head, a solemn look flashing in his eyes. The next moment, Little Jack clasped his hands together, Star Energy pulsing around his figure before diffusing into the ground.
One-Eyed Demon's eyes followed this trail of Star Energy as it merged with the ground, revealing a row of glowing footsteps that went deep into the cave.
Immediately a smile appeared on One-Eyed Demon's face. "Good, we are close. Nimo definitely is inside."
"Old Crook, flank him out..."
One-Eyed Demon continued to command. There was no way they were going inside the cave; after all, who knew just what sort of danger was awaiting them?
Old Crook, a man in his thirties, cheerfully said, "On it, Boss."
Following Old Crook's words, Star Energy rippled around his figure. A thick cloud of smoke was pushed inside the cave.
This was Old Crook's talent: a Rare grade talent that allows him to summon a poisonous cloud.
The three worked in sync, their actions coordinated, showing their years of working together.
…
Inside, Lukas's expression chilled. A look of discomfort appeared on his face as he accidentally breathed in the poisonous air.
Whoever the enemy was waiting outside, they were really cruel and insidious. The situation had taken the worst turn for Lukas; inside had been turned into a poisonous gas chamber while outside was an unholy mess waiting for him to emerge.
Countless thoughts were dashing through Lukas's head. He didn't know how to face the enemy outside, but one thing was crystal clear in his mind: if he stayed inside the cave, death was certain.
…
Meanwhile outside, the faces of Old Crook and Little Jack lit up with excitement.
"There are movements inside. Someone is coming out."
Tap! Tap!
Suddenly the smoke at the mouth of the cave parted, revealing the figure of Lukas covered in Astral Bone Vanguard. The bones surrounding his figure cast a starry glow in the surroundings, making his figure incredibly eye-catching.
I only have sixty seconds to finish the fight as fast as possible.
Lukas had chosen to go all out from the start. He did not know what the enemy had prepared for him. To win against odds he had to strike fast and with all of his strength.
As such, although he had a little amount of Star Energy, he decided to go all in right from the start.
Although Lukas was only a Rank One Stargazer, after fusing with the Rare Grade Astral Bone Vanguard, all of his physical attributes went up by a considerable margin.
As such, when he shot out of the smoke like a bullet, Little Jack, who was standing closest to the mouth of the cave, was caught by surprise.
Lukas also targeted him first. Before they could react, he silently muttered in his head: Star Energy Strike...!
At his words, a slash of highly potent compressed Star Energy appeared right above Little Jack's head.
Puchi! Like a knife through butter, the Star Energy slashed through Little Jack's head and continued flying into the distance, only stopping after it hit the trunk of an Iron Tree.
Only when the head rolled to the ground did others react.
One-Eyed Demon and Old Crook didn't roar angrily; instead, their expressions turned chilling, their eyes more alert.
This was not Nimo! But someone terrifying!
Lukas felt nothing; after all, he was forced to adapt to his current circumstances.
Instead, his expression hidden behind the bone mask turned slightly grim. The Star Energy contained within these runes seemed to have fallen by half. I just have one more Star Energy Strike to finish things off.
Lukas concluded from how the engraved runes had dimmed.
These thoughts passed through momentarily. The next moment he put his complete focus on Old Crook.
From the moment he first appeared to him killing Little Jack, roughly thirty seconds had passed. Now he only had thirty more to deal with the remaining two hostiles, roughly fifteen for each one of them.
Cold wind howled like banshees. Faint rays of morning light had already appeared far into the horizon.
However, none of the three were in the mood to appreciate this breathtaking scene, where both darkness and light existed side by side.
Taking a deep breath, Lukas jumped toward Old Crook, his bony fist tightly clenched.
