"Ray? What happened? Is something wrong? Come in." Elaine stepped back from the door immediately and invited him in.
Ray walked in, only to notice just how small Elaine's main room was.
It was meticulously organized and Ray could see the writing desk buried in papers while one side of the wall was covered in papers.
There were shelves of leather-bound ledgers and village records going back decades, along with a fireplace that was already burning with two chairs positioned in front of it.
On the walls of one side of the room was a detailed map of Thornsville which looked like it had been drawn by hand.
Beside the map was a list of village households and the names of each household member.
Elaine sat in one of the two chairs and gestured for Ray to sit in the other.
"Now tell me. What's wrong?" After noticing how Ray was breathing heavily, Elaine knew he had run all the way to her house, but since he had, then it meant that whatever Ray had to tell her must be very important.
