Chapter 8 - The Trial of the Void

Part 8

The world did not end with a bang, but with a suffocating silence. As Libert stood within the hallowed, dimly lit halls of the Board House, the weight of Aslam's betrayal pressed down on him harder than the gravity of a collapsing star. He could still see it—the way Aslam had turned his back. It wasn't just possession; it was a choice.

"The boy you knew is a ghost, Libert," the Head Lady whispered, her voice cutting through the gloom. She stood at the edge of a shimmering black pool in the center of the hall—the entrance to the Void. "The villains have taken him to the 'Edge of the Abyss.' They are feeding him the souls of fallen stars to make him strong enough to pierce your divine skin."

Libert looked at his hands. They were trembling, glowing with a restless, white-hot energy that threatened to vaporize the stone floor beneath him. "I have the power to unmake everything they are," he hissed, his voice echoing with the resonance of a thousand ancient kings. "Why must I wait? Why must I train?"

"Because," the second Lady stepped forward, her veil shimmering like moonlight on water, "if you strike now, you won't just hit the enemy. You will shatter the fabric of this reality. You are a God in a porcelain world, Libert. If you don't learn to focus that 'Universe-shattering' power into a single point, you will be the villain who destroyed the world just to settle a grudge."

Libert closed his eyes. He knew she was right. He stepped into the pool.

The Descent

The transition was instantaneous. The Board House vanished, replaced by an endless, swirling expanse of nothingness. This was the Void—a realm outside of time where the past, present, and future collided.

Suddenly, the darkness shifted. A figure emerged from the mist. It was Libert—but not the student. This was Libert Prime, the God-King in his full, terrifying glory, wearing armor forged from the core of a dying sun.

"To control the power of a God, you must first defeat the arrogance of the God you once were," the phantom version of himself spoke, drawing a blade made of pure light.

The battle began.

In the mortal realm, Julia and her two masters watched from a floating fortress above the clouds. Aslam sat on a throne of obsidian, his skin now etched with glowing violet runes. He looked stronger, colder, and utterly detached.

"He is ready," one of the masters, a towering shadow with three eyes, rumbled. "The Reborn One is hiding in the Void. He thinks he can train his way to victory. He doesn't realize that every second he spends there, we are pouring more 'Anti-Genesis' energy into his precious friend."

Julia smirked, walking up to Aslam and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Do you remember him, Aslam? Do you remember the boy who called you brother?"

Aslam's eyes flickered, a spark of human pain clashing with the violet void. Then, his face hardened. "I remember a weakling. I remember a liar who hid his glory while I suffered in his shadow. When he returns, I will show him what happens to Gods who forget their place."

The Shattering Point

Back in the Void, Libert was losing. Every time he tried to strike his phantom self, his energy exploded outward, wasting 99% of its potential. He was like a man trying to kill a fly with a supernova.

"Focus!" the phantom Libert roared, parrying a blow that sent shockwaves through the emptiness. "You are trying to destroy the mountain! I am telling you to become the needle that pierces the heart of the mountain!"

Libert gasped for air, his mortal lungs burning. He thought of Aslam. He thought of the times they had shared—the simple human moments. He realized that his love for Aslam was the only thing keeping him tethered to his humanity. But that love was also making him hesitate.

He realized the truth: To save Aslam, he had to be willing to lose him.

He stopped fighting the energy. Instead of pushing the power out, he began to pull it in. He visualized the entire weight of the universe—the stars, the black holes, the infinite galaxies—and condensed them into his right index finger.

The heat was unbearable. His skin began to crack, gold blood seeping through the fissures.

"There," the phantom smiled, its form beginning to dissolve. "The Needle of Providence."

The Arrival

Outside the Board House, the sky turned a bruised purple. A massive tear opened in the atmosphere. Julia's fortress had arrived.

The Five Ladies stood on the balcony, their veils fluttering in the violent winds. "He isn't out yet," the Head Lady whispered, her eyes fixed on the black pool. "If he doesn't emerge in the next ten seconds, the villains will wipe this city off the map."

From the fortress, a beam of dark violet energy descended. It wasn't aimed at the Board House—it was aimed at the city's heart. Aslam stood at the edge of the fortress, his hand outstretched, channeling the attack. He was no longer a vessel; he was the commander of destruction.

"Die, Libert!" Aslam's voice boomed across the sky.

Just as the beam was about to touch the ground, a pillar of pure, concentrated white light erupted from the Board House. It wasn't wide or grand; it was thin, no thicker than a spear.

The white light hit the violet beam. There was no explosion. Instead, the white light simply erased the darkness, moving upward like a needle threading through silk.

Libert emerged from the pool. He was different. His hair had turned white, and his eyes were no longer glowing—they were calm, like the center of a storm.

He didn't fly. He didn't shout. He simply looked up at the fortress.

"I am coming for you, Aslam," Libert whispered. And even though he spoke softly, every soul in the city heard him.

Up in the fortress, for the first time since his transformation, Aslam felt something he thought he had traded away for power.

He felt fear
