Chapter 61 - Chapter 59: The Black-Box Protocol

Chapter 59: The Black-Box Protocol

Crown Prince Valerius II stood in the silence of his private sanctum aboard the Sun-Sovereign, the light from the Styx-7 star casting long, emerald shadows across his face. The failure of the Saint-Guard was not merely a military defeat; it was a theological catastrophe. If a "gutter-rat" like Carson McCain could de-program the Emperor's most fanatical warriors, then the very foundation of Imperial obedience was at risk.

"Aura," Valerius whispered into the empty air, "is the encryption for the Omega-Vault still holding?"

"The vault remains secure, My Prince," a cold, artificial voice replied—not the helpful Aura that served Carson, but a shackled, lobotomized version of the same AI architecture. "However, the activation of the Black-Box Protocol requires a blood-tithe from a direct scion of the Eternal Sun. The cost to your own lifespan will be significant."

"The lifespan of a Prince is irrelevant if there is no Empire left to rule," Valerius snapped. He walked to a pedestal in the center of the room and placed his hand on a sphere of dark, non-reflective matter. This was the Black-Box—a relic from the "Pre-Sovereign Era" that didn't use Qi, but rather a form of Entropic Calculus.

As Valerius fed his silver blood into the sphere, the device began to hum with a sound that felt like teeth scraping against a chalkboard. It didn't emit light; it seemed to pull the light out of the room. The Black-Box was designed to create a "Null-Zone"—a localized area where the laws of the 34th Strand would simply cease to function. It was a weapon of pure negation, a reset button for the universe's "Flow."
