I lay there in that damn hospital bed, staring at the ceiling , my leg throbbing like a bastard from the gunshot wound, and all I could think was, kidnapper, you piece of shit, you shot me and took my husband, but I'm coming for you, oh yeah, I'm gonna drag Sky out of whatever hole you're hiding in and make you regret every breath you've taken since you decided to play hero in his life.
The pain shot up my thigh every time I shifted even a little, but screw that, I wasn't about to let it stop me. Mom was sitting next to me, her eyes all red and puffy from crying non-stop since we got back to the city, dabbing at her face with this crumpled tissue that looked like it'd been through a war itself, and she kept muttering, "Oh Danny, I should've never suggested that stupid trip, what was I thinking, dragging you two out there like that, it's all my fault, if I'd just kept my mouth shut you'd both be home safe right now."
