"Go ahead and complain to him, do you think I'm afraid of him!" When Xiaoling mentioned my dad, I suddenly became irritated, and my tone turned unpleasant again.
"Xiao Wei, it seems like you and your dad don't get along very well..."
"Don't call me Xiao Wei!" I suddenly raised my voice a few octaves. Xiao Ling was obviously startled by me. She opened her eyes wide and looked at me with some confusion.
Seeing her expression, my anger slowly subsided. To be honest, today was the day I talked to the most girls. When I was in high school, my family was poor, and I always hung out with Xiaoqiang, Feizai, and others to play basketball, fight, and cause trouble. I felt that chasing girls was something that cost money and wasted time, and that it was really far removed from us.
After starting university, my dad started giving me significantly more money. However, partly because my mother's passing made me very quiet for the past two years, and partly because the few girls at our science university were all incredibly unattractive, incomparable to the girls in high school. I felt regretful even looking at them a few times, so I tried to stay away from them as much as possible...
Having not spoken to girls for a long time, I became increasingly afraid to talk to them. I also lacked experience in interacting with girls, so I would get nervous whenever I saw one.
It wasn't until after talking to Xiaoling for so long that I suddenly realized that this was the first time I had ever talked so much with a girl, and I hadn't even seemed particularly nervous, which was rather strange.
Perhaps it's this inexplicable relationship between us now?
"Forget it, let's not talk about that." I waved my hand subconsciously, not even knowing what I meant. If I'm not going to talk about this or that, then what should I talk about?
Another awkward silence ensued.
Xiaoling sat across from me somewhat awkwardly, wanting to speak several times but holding back. To hide her nervousness, she kept drinking tea.
The silence made me inexplicably nervous, and I used drinking tea to cover up my unease. As soon as Xiaoling saw that my teacup was empty, she quickly grabbed a thermos to refill it for me, and also poured herself a cup.
"It's so hot these days." Xiaoling finally found a topic again, a topic that wasn't too sensitive.
"Yes." I felt a little regretful for making the atmosphere like this with that attitude.
"You came all the way from school, you must be all sweaty, right? Do you want to take a shower? I've already boiled the water." Xiaoling said, standing up. "Oh, by the way, I also bought you a set of underwear. It's made to fit your dad's height, so it should be a good fit for you, right?"
"Take a shower before bed. I can do it myself, you don't need to worry about it." I waved my hand. When Xiaoling mentioned taking a shower, I suddenly realized that I would have to live with her for the next two months.
"Alright then." Xiaoling sat down again, looked around, and then suddenly seemed to remember something. She reached for the remote control on the coffee table: "Do you want to watch TV?"
"Okay." After drinking another cup of tea, I suddenly felt a strong urge to urinate. I don't usually drink this much water at once.
But how could I possibly ask Xiaoling where the bathroom was? I looked around, trying to figure out which door was the bathroom door.
The house wasn't big; at a glance, it seemed to be a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. I don't know much about interior design, but the rooms were quite complicated, with a mess of things everywhere. Coupled with her flustered expression, I looked around twice but still couldn't figure out which door was the bathroom door.
"Do you need to go to the bathroom?" Xiaoling suddenly laughed, and her laughter made my face turn completely red.
"Hmm." I lowered my head, wishing I could disappear into a crack in the ground. How could I be so pathetic? Why am I nervous when she's not? Why am I afraid of her?
"This way." Xiaoling got up and walked to her right, then stopped in front of a glass door.
"Here?" I looked at the glass door with some confusion. I had seen this glass door earlier, but I really didn't expect it to be a bathroom.
"Yes." Xiaoling laughed again, and then opened the door for me.
I entered the bathroom somewhat awkwardly and closed the door. Only then did I realize that there were gaps of several tens of centimeters at the top and bottom of the bathroom door. When I turned around, I could actually see Xiaoling standing outside the door.
And the door is made of glass, what's going on? Although it has patterns on it, you can still see the TV playing in the living room quite clearly. How can people inside feel at ease?
Seeing Xiaoling subconsciously turn her head and glance in my direction, I quickly squatted down. This was incredibly embarrassing. However, I immediately realized that even if I squatted down like this, she could still see my shadow from outside. Damn! How mortifying!
Because I was so eager to urinate, I turned around, lifted the toilet seat, and started to relieve myself. Although it was a very ordinary thing, I felt like I had a thorn in my side, especially the sound of the water hitting the toilet, which made me extremely embarrassed.
Finally, it's all over. The bathroom still smells like I made it, and the door is in this terrible state. Isn't the smell going to spread into the living room? I quickly pressed the flush button, but the toilet didn't respond at all.
What kind of garbage is this? Did you buy a knock-off toilet? It's obviously not a genuine brand. It's not even dispensing water at a crucial moment like this. What kind of idiot is this?
I kicked the toilet twice in a fit of rage, it felt just like kicking my awful dad, it was so satisfying!
The toilet was indeed a knock-off. When I kicked it hard, it actually made a 'squeak' sound and tilted to the side. I quickly reached out to straighten it, but after I kicked it, water started flowing out of the toilet, finally resolving my earlier embarrassment.
"Is the toilet not working properly?" Xiaoling called out from outside. I turned around and saw her walking towards me.
"It's okay, it's okay." I quickly pulled up my pants. This glass door really couldn't stop anything, which was really frustrating.
"How about I take a look for you?" Xiaoling walked to the door. Fortunately, she was not taller than the glass door.
"No need, it's all set." I said, then pushed open the bathroom door and came out. It's so awkward having her at home; even something as simple as going to the toilet makes me feel embarrassed.
"The water flow isn't very good. I had it fixed, but it's still intermittent." Xiaoling gave me a somewhat apologetic look, then turned and went into the bathroom. It seems she'd had too much tea; no wonder she guessed what I was thinking when she saw me looking around.
After taking a couple of steps, I subconsciously glanced back and found that Xiaoling's figure in the bathroom was also clearly visible. I was stunned. This damn glass is too clear! Is this the kind of thing that's now used for bathroom doors?
Just then, Xiaoling inside suddenly pulled up a curtain, and now nothing could be seen through the frosted glass.
I couldn't help but curse inwardly, "That damn Xiaoling, why didn't she remind me to close the curtain when I went in? She made me so embarrassed!"
But I really can't blame her. The curtain was very obvious by the door. I can only blame myself for being too nervous and not noticing it. Thinking back to how I dodged when Xiaoling looked over, I'm sweating bullets...
I was watching TV absentmindedly, and the thought that Xiaoling had become my stepmother made me increasingly depressed. I was just thinking about whether I should slip away now and find somewhere else to spend the summer vacation when a loud crash suddenly came from the bathroom, followed by Xiaoling's scream...
"What's wrong?" I subconsciously stood up and looked in the direction of the bathroom.
"Ah... the toilet tipped over..." came Xiaoling's painful groan from the bathroom.
Oh my god... I just remembered those two times I kicked the toilet in a fit of rage... It should have collapsed from my kicks, but Xiaoling, unaware of what was happening, went in and sat right on it...
"Are you alright?" Now all I can do is call out from outside. Heaven knows if Xiaoling has pulled up her pants yet. If she hasn't, that would be really embarrassing.
Xiaoling didn't reply, but from the sound of her struggling to get up, I couldn't help but feel a little smug, even though I didn't mean to mess with her...
Little brat, can't you just find a decent boyfriend? Why do you have to marry a rich old man!
After a while, Xiaoling opened the bathroom door. She had already tidied her clothes, but she still looked like she was in pain and was limping.
I glanced into the bathroom, and it really was a mess... The toilet was overturned on the floor and shattered into many pieces.
"Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it." Xiaoling glanced at me apologetically, probably feeling embarrassed that she had made such a commotion so soon after I arrived.
When Xiaoling said that, I felt a little embarrassed. After all, I was the one who caused the mess, and she had fallen quite badly just now. I went into the bathroom and came to the broken toilet: "I'll clean it up."
"Be careful not to get scratched... those shards are very sharp," Xiaoling quickly shouted to me.
I didn't really know what to do, but I found some bloodstains on a piece of broken metal. I wonder if Xiaoling got cut?
"Your blood?" I picked up the shard and showed it to Xiaoling.
"Hmm." Xiaoling frowned. "It scratched my butt."
"hey-hey."
After a moment of silence, I couldn't help but laugh.
Hearing me laugh, Xiaoling seemed a little angry. She raised her fist and punched me on the back: "What's so funny!"
"Are you alright? You should go to the hospital if you're not feeling well," I said, feigning concern.
"No need, I'll go into my room to apply some medicine. You can go watch TV in the living room first. I'll come out and clean up here after I'm done." Xiaoling said, limping towards a room and closing the door behind her.
