Chapter 1 - "Ambition "

'Macbeth ' is a story about ambition that goes too far. The witches 'prediction inspire Macbeth and lady Macbeth to chese their desires, but they act on their own.

Macbeth is a complex character who changes throughout the course of the play. he is clearly a brave warrior and leader at the start of the drama but the false victim to the witches prediction. It is unclear whether they plant ideas in his mind or whether the simply highlight thoughts that he has already had. He repeatedly questions himself about his motives for killing the king but he but is eventually persuaded to continue by his forceful wife.

Second characteristics lady Macbeth

Lady Macbeth is even more ambitious and ruthless than her husband as soon as an opportunity to get power presents itself .She has a plan in mind .She uses her influence to persude Macbth they are taking the right course of action and even tax part in the crime herself for a while she is able to suppress her actions but eventually ,she becomes unable to deal with the guilt of what she has done. She becomes unable to sleep, and mentally unstable.

Act 1

The story is start in the forest . When a wild and stormy heath in Scotland, three witches called the weird sisters where to meet Macbeth .Their conversation is confusing and field with riddles they talk about meeting Macbeth" when the battle's lost and won" and say that "Fair is foul and foul is fair", suggesting that things are not what they seen.

Act 1,Scene 2

The scootish Army is fighting the norwegians .King Duncan meets a captain who tells him about Macbeth and banquo's bravery in battle. The captain explains how Macbeth fought fiercely against a traitor named McDonald defeating him and putting his head on display. Rose and Angus come into inform Duncan that the Thane of Cowder has betrayed him by siding with Norway. Duncun decide to execute Cawdor and give Macbeth his title.

Act 1, scene 3

The witches meet again on the heath and encounter Macbeth and Banquo.When Macbeth arrives, he uses the same mixed up language as the witches saying , "So Foul and fair a day I have not seen ."The Witches then greet him with three titles. "Thane of glimpse " , " Thane of Cawdor" , and they tell him he will be "King hereafter ." This surprises and scares Macbeth.They also prophecy about Banquo saying he will father kings but not be king himself. Just after the witches disappear, Ross and Angus come to tell Macbeth he has been made Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth and Banquo discuss this news,and Banquo warns that this new title might make Macbeth want to seek the crown.Macbeth begins to think about the possibility of killing Duncun to fullfil the witches ' prophecy,which disturbs him.

Act 1, scene 4

Duncan wants to know if the former Thane of Cawdor has been executed.
