Chapter 1 - For the ones who met love more than once… but were never meant to keep it.

Maybe we were never meant to be, but meeting you again in every aspect of my life kept my hope of being with you alive"

16 august 2021 the first day of her school day after covid 19 as a class 11 student. After covid it was first time when school was reopened school was full of children. It was like school went back to life again.

Mrs Neha was the class teacher of class 11 c commerce batch class was full of students everyone was sitting one at one bench then teacher came everyone stood up and wished her good morning

"Settle down class" said Mrs Neha

So today is your first day in offline class but we already met each other during our online classes let's just start with your roll call and then we will be selecting monitor of our class

Out of 35 students only 25 were present that day

Mrs Neha asked who wanted to be monitor the girl sitting on third bench in the last row raised her hand and said softly "can I be" "sure" said Mrs Neha

Purvi will be our monitor for our entire session everyone agreed to it

Mrs Neha assigned Purvi some monitor duty

Everything was going fine Purvi made new friends Sonali the girl she knew already but was never close to her but they were great friends now

Everyone was allotted partners Saloni and Purvi were sitting together BEHIND Them Tina and Maya were sitting and rest of the classmates

Then a notice came from the principal's office that the school had been divided into two batches. One batch would be from 7:00 to 12:00, and another one would be from 12:30 to 4:30. Students were divided into two batches according to their roll numbers, but only a few students came in Batch 2. They were:

Purvi Saloni Tina Maya Piyush Shaurya Ritika Siya

"How it feels when two strangers who were never meant to be together finally met each other."

Batch 2 was filled with laughter and joy, and it felt like a small family—except Shaurya. He came only for a few days.

Everyone slowly formed a good bond with each other, except Shaurya he didn't attend the class much his all the friends were in 1 batch but whenever he came he also was like the part of batch 2 family

Month passed like this Purvi noticed something strange she has caught Shaurya looking at her more than twice but whenever she look back he look away even her friends noticed this there was something strange about this but Purvi just ignored it

It was the time for exam periodic test both batches were combined for the exam all 35 student together for the first time harshit was the monitor for batch 1 and Purvi was monitor for batch 2 when whole class was together their duty was disciple the class everything was going well exam over but the 2 batches were not students were still divided in 2 batches and it was fun

Month passed it was time for their final exam before exam it was time for their practical exam both boys and girls were ready for the physical test

Firstly it was girls turn for the test it took 1 hour and girls were told to rest while boys were performing the test and everyone was going to sit in the playground but Purvi stopped I middle to wait for her friends who were wearing shoes while she was waiting her eyes went on Shaurya his eyes were looking golden brown in sunlight his hairs were messy because of the wind that moment she was paused she didn't know what happened her heart was beating faster but she looked away it was a strange feeling that she never experienced before practical exam was over everyone went back to their class and took their bag and was leaving then Purvi and Shaurya crashed into each other Purvi looked into his eyes and then Shaurya said sorry and Purvi left without saying anything

"SOMETIMES WHAT IS NOT MEANT TO BE HAPPENS"

After that something changed the way she looked at him it was different from before she was falling for him it her first time she feels this for someone

But unfortunately something bad was going to happen

After class 11 final exam was over it was time for class 12 new session and there were no different batches all 35 students were together in one class together

Teacher made new seat partners and then fate changed Purvi was allotted seat next to Shaurya there was awkwardness between both of them and she was happy that she is sitting with him and it was just one day happiness the very next day her seat was changed she was sitting with Dev one of the Shaurya friends she was also very friendly with him they talked she asked about Shaurya and he answered they were quite close and then one day dev told something that broke her heart that Shaurya already liked someone not liked he was in love with her heart was broken she didn't know what to say she just left that message on seen and went to sleep

Next day in school when dev asked how she was she just smiled she saw Shaurya smiling and then she decided to be friends with him only to make him stay in his life

To distract her mind dev used to talk to her about anything funny that made her smile they were good friends now everything was going well

Until one night something changed Purvi said I like you to dev and dev immediately replied that he liked her too and from a long time

Purvi was happy they were in relationship it was her first relationship everything was going well and they were happy they talked late night sat together in class eye contacts and smiled it was beautiful

But it is said something happiness don't last long he changes just in 2 months he stared ignoring her he was not even reply to her text everything just changed in one night she was heartbroken again she wanted to talk to him but he didn't even attended the school

She waited but he didn't came one day when he came she wanted to talk to him nut he just ignored her as she was nothing to him

She stopped waiting she didn't know what was the reason of sudden change in his behaviour but what hurts her was to see him with someone else he is smiling with someone else the reason of his smile was another girl she didn't know where did she get wrong she blamed herself that she is not meant to be loved she was now afraid in trusting someone she thought it was her karma because the person who loved her she ignored him and choose the person she loved and at the end she was left with her broken heart twice

She was heartbroken but never shows on her face she was always smiling in front of everyone but what was going inside she only know she was good at hiding emotions

Times passed it was time for farewell everyone was happy and everyone was clicking pictures she with gathering all her courage went to dev to ask for a photo together but he denied from somewhere she got know his new girlfriend asked him to stay away from Purvi with smile she left Shaurya saw this and then he went to Purvi they were friends he asked here can I get a photo with you Purvi said "won't your girlfriend will get angry"

"Nope she won't lets click a picture together" said Shaurya

Contry party was over everyone went back to their houses and it was time for their board exam

31 March 2023 the last time they met it was the last board exam it was last time she looked at dev and then with her friends she went home

"It's strange how love works—sometimes the person you fall for is someone who was never meant to be important… until they were everything"

It was time for the college she was the student in Delhi University

It was her first day in college and she was very happy her best friends her trio gang was in same collage she was doing b com and her friends were doing hounrs she went to her class that was assigned to her when she was going to her class through stairs there was rush someone pushed her she was about to fall but someone saved her held her hand and saved her from falling and then pushed her toward him she was closed to him it was a familiar feeling when she looked up into the eyes it was Shaurya the one she didn't even thought of meeting again they were classmates Purvi said thanks and then ran away from there to washroom

Her was beating very fast as it never forgotten about the person she has already fallen in past she washed her face and cleaned her tears and went back to class where Shaurya was already waiting for her they sat together and Shaurya said long time Purvi

"Yes a very long time Shaurya how are you btw" said Purvi

"I m good" Shaurya what about u

"Good" said Purvi

Purvi has heard about his breakup but then also she just asked how is your girlfriend

"We broke up" he said

"Ooo I m sorry to hear about it" said Purvi

Class was over and then they went to canteen together and there Purvi friend Tina and Saloni was already waiting for her

All of them sat together, talking about their school days—laughing at old memories, teachers, punishments, and silly fights. Tina and Saloni kept teasing Purvi, noticing how quiet she had suddenly become.

Shaurya sat beside Purvi, listening quietly. Every now and then, his eyes met hers. Purvi looked away each time, her heart beating faster than she wanted to admit.

Soon, the bell rang, reminding them about class.

"We have the same class," Tina said excitedly. "Looks like destiny is doing something again."

Purvi ignored her and stood up. As they entered the classroom together, Purvi realized that Shaurya's name was right next to hers on the attendance list.

They took their seats side by side.

The professor entered, and the class began, but Purvi couldn't focus. Shaurya's presence felt strangely familiar, like nothing had changed, yet everything had.

After a while, Shaurya leaned a little closer and whispered,

"Did you ever think we'd meet like this again?"

Purvi shook her head softly.

"Never."

He smiled—a small, quiet smile that made her heart ache.

As the lecture continued, Purvi stared at her notebook, pretending to write, while her thoughts kept drifting back to him. Sitting beside Shaurya felt comforting and confusing at the same time.

Maybe this was not just a coincidence after all.

From that day onwards, Purvi and Shaurya started spending more time together. Sitting in the same class made things easier. At first, they talked only about notes, assignments, and professors.

Slowly, those small talks turned into long conversations.

They started sitting together every day. If Purvi missed a class, Shaurya shared his notes with her. If Shaurya was absent, Purvi explained the lecture to him. Somewhere between borrowed pens and shared notebooks, a quiet comfort grew.

They laughed more now—about college life, canteen food, crowded buses, and old school memories they never talked about before.

With Shaurya, Purvi felt understood. There was no pressure, no expectations. Just ease.

Soon, everyone in class noticed it.

"Tera best friend toh fix ho gaya," Tina teased one day.

Purvi smiled.

"Bas friend," she replied, but her smile stayed longer than usual.

Shaurya, too, found himself opening up to her. He told her about his breakup, his plans, his fears, and the things he never said out loud. Purvi listened, always.

They became each other's safe place.

And without realizing it, Purvi and Shaurya were no longer just classmates from the past—

They were best friends now.

College life slowly began to feel complete for Purvi and Shaurya.

The annual college fest was the first big memory they made together. The campus was filled with lights, music, and endless noise. Purvi, Tina, and Saloni dragged Shaurya from one stall to another. They clicked pictures, laughed at silly games, and argued about which performance to watch next.

During the evening concert, the crowd was huge. Purvi almost lost her balance, but Shaurya held her wrist gently.

"Careful," he said.

She smiled. "Always saving me."

He laughed. "Habit."

They stood side by side, enjoying the music, not talking much—just feeling happy in that moment.

A few weeks later, their class planned a short trip together. It was chaotic, noisy, and full of excitement. The bus ride was filled with songs, jokes, and nonstop laughter. Purvi sat by the window, and Shaurya sat next to her, teasing her every time she got sleepy.

At the destination, they explored the place together—clicking pictures, sharing snacks, and getting lost more than once. In the evening, everyone sat together, talking under the open sky.

Purvi realized something that day. With Shaurya, she laughed more freely. She felt lighter.

Back in college, their days were filled with small moments—canteen lunches, last-bench gossip, helping each other during exams, and walking out of campus together after classes.

Some friendships don't happen suddenly.

They grow quietly, through shared days and unplanned memories.

And somewhere between college fests and class trips, Purvi and Shaurya's friendship became one of the most beautiful parts of her college life.

It happened slowly, without any warning.

One evening, after college, Purvi was sitting alone in her room, scrolling through her phone. She stopped when she saw Shaurya's name at the top of her chat—"Did you reach home?"

She smiled without thinking.

That's when it hit her.

She started noticing things she hadn't before—how she waited for him in class without realizing it, how his absence made the day feel incomplete, how his texts made her mood instantly better. She remembered the way he laughed during the trip, the way he always saved a seat for her, the way he listened—really listened.

Purvi sighed and put her phone aside.

She had been here before.

She knew this feeling.

Falling again… for the same person.

The thought scared her. She didn't want to lose what they had. Their friendship was precious, safe—something she never wanted to ruin. So she decided to hide it, to keep it to herself.

The next day in college, Shaurya noticed something different.

"You're unusually quiet today," he said.

Purvi smiled lightly. "Nothing. Just tired."

He nodded, but kept looking at her, as if he knew there was more she wasn't saying.

As they walked out of campus together, Purvi realized one thing very clearly—

She could pretend all she wanted, but her heart had already chosen him again.

And this time, it hurt a little more… because she knew what it meant to love him.

Years passed, and college life changed Purvi in ways she never imagined.

She was no longer the quiet girl who hesitated. By her final year, Purvi had become the President of the College Dance Group. Dance was her escape, her strength, the place where she felt most alive. Practices went on till late evenings, music echoing through the auditorium, sweat and laughter mixing with dreams.

Under her leadership, the group performed at inter-college fests and won prizes. Standing backstage, guiding her team, encouraging them, Purvi felt proud of how far she had come.

Shaurya was always there—watching her performances from the front row, clapping the loudest.

"You own the stage," he told her once.

Purvi smiled. "Only because I know you're watching."

Along with dance, Purvi discovered another side of herself—basketball.

She joined the college basketball team after being noticed during a friendly match. What started as fun slowly turned into passion. Early morning practices, bruised knees, tired muscles—she loved all of it.

During the annual sports meet, Purvi played her best match. The crowd cheered as she scored the winning basket. Her team lifted her up, shouting her name.

In the stands, Shaurya whistled loudly.

"That's my best friend!" he shouted.

Later, as she sat on the court catching her breath, Shaurya handed her a bottle of water.

"You never stop surprising me," he said.

Between dance rehearsals, basketball matches, college events, and endless memories, Purvi and Shaurya grew closer than ever. They celebrated wins together and supported each other through failures.

Yet, beneath all her achievements and smiles, Purvi carried a quiet truth in her heart—

No matter how much time passed, her feelings for Shaurya never faded.

They only grew stronger.

It was Rose Day in college.

The campus looked different that day—red roses everywhere, laughter in the air, juniors running around nervously with flowers hidden behind their backs. Purvi noticed it all but didn't think much about it. For her, it was just another day.

She was coming out of the auditorium after dance practice when she saw a small crowd near the canteen.

At the center of it stood Shaurya.

And in front of him… a junior girl, holding a red rose in trembling hands.

Purvi slowed down without realizing it.

The girl looked nervous, her voice shaking as she spoke,

"I've liked you for a long time… will you be mine?"

Time stopped.

Purvi stood there, her heart pounding so loudly she thought everyone could hear it. She wanted to move, to look away—but her feet refused.

All eyes turned to Shaurya.

He looked surprised for a second. Then he smiled—a soft, gentle smile.

"Yes," he said quietly.

"Yes… because I've liked you too. For a long time."

That was it.

Something inside Purvi shattered—silently.

The noise around her faded. The laughter, the claps, the cheers—all of it felt distant. Her hands went cold. Her chest felt heavy, like she couldn't breathe properly.

She smiled.

She didn't know how, but she smiled.

She clapped with everyone else, her hands shaking, her eyes burning. No one noticed the way her heart was breaking piece by piece.

She turned away before anyone could see her tears.

Walking down the corridor, every memory rushed back—the stairs where he saved her, the classes they shared, the late talks, the laughter, the way he called her best friend. She had hidden her feelings so well that even he never saw them.

In the washroom, Purvi locked herself inside a stall and slid down to the floor.

She pressed her hand over her mouth so no sound would escape.

She wasn't crying because he chose someone else.

She was crying because she never got the courage to tell him that she had chosen him… again and again… for years.

That night, she opened her phone. His name was still pinned at the top of her chats.

Best Friend.

She stared at it for a long time, then turned the phone face down.

Some love stories don't end with goodbyes.

They end with silence.

And Purvi understood that day—

Loving someone deeply doesn't always mean being chosen.

Sometimes, it just means letting them go… with a smile that hides a broken heart.

Graduation came sooner than Purvi expected.

The campus that once felt like home was now preparing to say goodbye. Final-year photos, farewell speeches, and promises to stay in touch filled the days. Purvi smiled in pictures, laughed with her friends, and danced one last time on the college stage as the President of the dance group.

Everyone clapped. Everyone cheered.

No one knew how heavy her heart felt.

Shaurya stood in the crowd, clapping too—proud of her, unaware of the storm she carried inside. Since Rose Day, things had changed. They still talked, still smiled, but something unspoken stood between them. Purvi kept a careful distance, hiding her pain behind achievements.

On graduation day, as she threw her cap in the air with everyone else, Purvi whispered to herself,

"Endings are also beginnings."

Soon after, life moved on.

Purvi got selected for an internship in a reputed company. New place, new people, new responsibilities. The days were busy—learning, struggling, growing. Nights were quiet. Too quiet.

Sometimes, while returning home late, she would check her phone and stop at Shaurya's name. He still texted—asking about her day, reminding her to eat, cheering her on.

She replied.

Always politely.

Never deeply.

Shaurya noticed it.

"You've changed," he said once during a call.

"Maybe," Purvi replied softly. "Or maybe I'm just growing."

During her internship, Purvi found strength she didn't know she had. She worked hard, proved herself, and slowly started believing that her life was more than just the love she never confessed.

Yet, some nights, when exhaustion took over, she would sit by the window, remembering the boy who once held her hand on a staircase and unknowingly held her heart for years.

Life didn't stop.

Neither did love.

It just learned how to stay quiet and let him go

Sometime love is not about holding back it is about letting go
