Someone was slowly walking forward. It was the Overseer.
Overseer: If everyone is here now, let's slowly start the roll call.
A large group of people lined up side by side, waiting quietly.
Overseer: Let's begin…
Just then, two voices suddenly shouted:
"- - - : STOP!?"
The Overseer raised an eyebrow.
Overseer: Hm, looks like we'll have a "late on the first day" situation.
The ones shouting were actually Enzo and Jack.
Enzo: (Nervous) We still have 1 minute!
Jack: (Tired) Yeah, but we're going to be late on the first day…
The Overseer smiled.
Overseer: Wouldn't it be fun if we slowly closed the gate?
Assistant Overseer: I suppose it would.
[Sound of the gate slowly closing]
Enzo: (Shocked) THEY'RE GOING TO CLOSE THE GATE ON US!?
Jack: I can't run any faster… he said, completely out of breath.
Enzo: (Determined) There are still 24 seconds left! I WON'T ALLOW IT!?
Suddenly, twin daggers appeared in Enzo's hands and were thrown forward.
Enzo: COME ON, HOLD THE GATE FOR ME, TWINS!?
[The daggers spin and stab into the metal gate]
The daggers jammed into both sides of the gate, stopping it from closing.
Overseer: Didn't I say it would be fun?
Enzo and Jack slid through the gate.
Jack and Enzo: (Happy) THIS IS IT!?
They made it with only 2 seconds left.
