Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:It Was Just a Dream

Ibrahim: Kayan, once you finish bringing the boxes, put them in the storage.

Ibrahim: Kayan… did you fall asleep at work again?

At that moment, the manager entered and looked at Kayan.

Manager: Do you think I pay you to sleep?

He stepped toward Kayan and pulled the chair from under him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Kayan: What's happening? What just happened?

Manager: You fool! Get back to work!

Kayan panicked.

Kayan: I'm sorry, sir, I didn't—

Manager: Don't talk back. Get back to work immediately.

Kayan: Yes, sir…

Damn… What the hell have I done to myself? I'll keep working like this forever, and I'll never be able to pay off this debt… All my salary goes to loans and debts I trapped myself in.

Kayan finished his shift, exhausted and bewildered by his life.

Kayan: I need to find a second job.

On his way home, he looked at the library again. A strange urge compelled him to enter. He was surprised by the crowd inside.

Person: Wow… so many people are reading books these days.

Kayan: You're here, Jeff?

Jeff: Yeah, I visit the library sometimes. What about you?

Kayan: This is my first time in a library.

Kayan looked at the book he was holding.

Jeff: That's The Essence, a book by Albedo Vacolus about psychological decline and self-deprecation. Quite philosophical. Do you want me to help you pick a book?

Kayan: No, thanks. I want to browse myself.

Jeff: Suit yourself. See you at work tomorrow.

Kayan began searching for a book. After a long search and countless options:

Kayan: What should I do… it's getting late. I should stop this nonsense.

He left the library, and on his way out, a book fell in front of him. He picked it up to return it, but decided to go back to the fallen book.

Kayan: Good…

He took the book titled The Exit. It was very old and in terrible condition. He left the library and returned home.

Night had fallen. He placed the book on the table and went upstairs to his room.

Empty space… nothing but a gray room.

Kayan advanced, scared and confused by the place. He saw a tree trunk emerging from the ground. Approaching it, he noticed something on top.

Kayan: What is this? This is the same book I bought today!

He picked it up and opened the first page. There was only a single line written in large letters in the middle:

"The… has awakened"

He turned the page, but found nothing. The next pages were empty too.

Kayan: What's with this book? It only contains this phrase…

Kayan felt a strange, terrifying sensation. Suddenly, the book grew a horrifying mouth.

Kayan panicked, screamed, and threw the book away. Fear gripped him, along with the sound of his pounding heartbeat.

He heard a sound from below. Looking down, he saw that the ground had become a huge book. Fear tore through him, and he started screaming.

Kayan: What is this? Get me out of here! Stop… stop!

The ground, now a book's mouth, opened and swallowed him.

Kayan woke up, terrified, realizing it was a dream.

Kayan: It's just a dream…

He looked at the clock and saw he was late for work. He hurried to put on his clothes.

But in a single moment, his heart stopped.

Kayan: What is this? I don't remember putting the book here… Who brought it?

He slowly approached the book and opened it. The first page was blank… the second… the third…

He was surprised to see that the entire book consisted of empty pages.

Kayan: This must be a joke…

Remembering work, he left the book and ran out.
