[Form Converter: One-time-use item. When used on a Pokémon, it can convert that Pokémon into a specified regional form.]
The description was incredibly brief.
Yet that didn't diminish its terrifying potential in the slightest.
Because with this item, Peter could finally obtain a Pokémon he had long dreamed of—
Hisuian Zoroark.
A Pokémon that perfectly balanced appearance and strength, overflowing with tactical possibilities.
A dream partner in every sense of the word.
Its signature Ability—Illusion—allowed it to disguise itself as any sufficiently familiar target at will. The disguise would only be broken once it was struck.
This was fundamentally different from Pokémon like Ditto or Mew.
It didn't copy stats, typing, or abilities—only appearance.
But that alone was more than enough.
In real combat, tricking an opponent into wasting even one or two moves was already enough to seize a decisive advantage.
Just imagine it—
A Normal/Ghost-type Hisuian Zoroark, disguised as Buneary.
The opponent would almost certainly choose a Fighting-type move…
Only for it to land—and do absolutely nothing.
If used properly, this blend of truth and illusion would plunge any opponent into chaos.
And as if that weren't enough—
Hisuian Zoroark's typing was practically flawless.
It was immune to Normal, Ghost, and Fighting moves,
with only a single weakness to Dark-type attacks.
Most importantly—
It looked amazing.
Looks are justice. No rebuttals accepted.
Peter stood there grinning like an idiot for a good while before finally calming down.
All that remained now was to find the right opportunity to capture a high-potential Zorua.

Aside from the Form Converter, the Technical Machines he obtained were also extremely practical.
[Technical Machine: Allows a Pokémon to learn a new move.]
Substitute:
Sacrifices one-quarter of the user's HP to create a decoy that blocks most non-sound-based, non-piercing moves and effects.Dig:
Ground-type physical move. Power: 80.
On the first turn, the user burrows underground. On the second turn, it strikes. While underground, the user avoids most attacks.Encore:
Status move. The user claps to encourage the opponent, forcing them to repeat their last-used move three times.Cosmic Power:
Draws upon mysterious cosmic energy to raise both Defense and Special Defense by one stage.
Peter assigned Substitute to Dolliv, further reinforcing its role as a frontline tank.
Paired with its multiple recovery methods, as long as the opponent couldn't knock it out instantly, Dolliv could theoretically create an endless loop of Substitutes—borderline unbeatable.
Substitute could also shield teammates, block lethal burst moves in critical moments, and serve as a vital tactical reserve.
As for Dig, Encore, and Cosmic Power, they were given to Buneary.
Before achieving Mega Evolution, Buneary was better suited as a speed-oriented physical attacker with support capabilities.
Whether it was stalling turns with Dig combined with its Speed Boost Ability, controlling opponents with Encore, or using Cosmic Power in Baton Pass strategies to bolster team defenses—each move could shine brilliantly in different battles.
…..
Finally, there were the two held items.
[Grassy Seed]
A special seed imbued with grassy energy.
When Grassy Terrain is active in battle, it triggers automatically, raising the holder's Defense by one stage. Triggers once per battle.
[Aggronite]
A Mega Stone containing Mega Energy.
When held by Aggron, it can resonate with a Trainer's Key Stone and the bond between Trainer and Pokémon to enable Mega Evolution.
There wasn't much to say about Grassy Seed.
Put it on Dolliv, and most physical attackers would be crippled on the spot.
But Aggronite?
It was basically useless to Peter.
He had already decided to specialize in Normal-type strategies, while Aggron was a Rock/Steel-type Pokémon from the Hoenn region, famous for its massive physical defense.
If he were walking a Steel-type route, it would be a fantastic choice.
But that wasn't his path.
"According to the current timeline…"
Peter stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Mega Evolution hasn't been officially released yet, right?"
Back when he first arrived in this world, he'd imagined the typical transmigrator fantasy—
Become a professor's assistant, accidentally publish a few groundbreaking papers, and before long even professors would be calling him "boss."
Peak wish-fulfillment.
Reality, however, had been merciless.
At the time, he hadn't even had the ability to leave Goldenrod City, let alone become a researcher.
And even if he had met a professor, rejection would've been the most likely outcome.
Research institutes were filled with classified data.
A penniless, unknown kid with no credentials had zero chance of earning trust.
Of course, that was all in the past.
Now, all Peter needed was three Gym Badges to officially receive a Pokédex and gain full Trainer status.
After that…
"If I just happen to discover a few clues about Mega Evolution, that's not unreasonable, right?"
Apply for a patent.
Earn some pocket money.
Perfectly logical.
"And if worst comes to worst," Peter chuckled,
"I could always hand it over to some rich stone-digging pretty boy…"
His thoughts drifted to Steven Stone, the stone-obsessed Champion of Hoenn.
That man spent his life either mining stones—or on his way to mine stones.
And just so happened to have an Aggron as his ace.
Couldn't get more professionally aligned than that.
With a satisfied grin, Peter tossed the Mega Stone into his bag and headed toward the Oreburgh Gym.
According to the timeline, Paul and Ash should be meeting there today.
In the original story, Ash developed a spinning evasion tactic during his Oreburgh Gym battle—
using rapid bodily rotation to avoid direct collisions.
That technique would later become the prototype for his signature move: Counter Shield.
Peter had no intention of walking Ash's path—
But that didn't stop him from studying unconventional tactics.
After all, real battles were vastly different from turn-based games.
And he had always considered himself a lifelong student.
Cradling a Pokémon Egg, Peter strolled through the streets of Oreburgh City, casually checking Buneary's status panel:
Buneary ♀ | Lv. 25 (Intermediate)
Ability: Speed Boost (Slightly Awakened)
Talent: 350 (Species Max: 350)
Pre-allocated Talent:
Attack: 37Speed: 39
Friendship: 186
Held Item: Black Iron Ball
Moves:
Proficient: Baby-Doll Eyes, Quick Attack, SplashMastered: Power-Up Punch, Teeter Dance, Copycat, Low Sweep, Round Eyes, Double Kick, Baton Pass, Rain Dance, etc.Learned: High Jump Kick, Agility, Work Up, Dig, Cosmic Power, Encore
…
During training in the Dream Space, Buneary had learned Work Up, completing its Baton Pass strategy.
Most of Peter's recently earned Talent Points had also been invested into it.
Based on Dolliv's evolution experience, once Buneary evolved, its Speed and physical Attack would spike even higher.
Which was why Peter had decided not to delay its evolution any longer.
He removed the Everstone and replaced it with the Black Iron Ball.
With sufficient friendship, Buneary should evolve into Lopunny very soon.
The base stat increase alone exceeded 100 points—trying to pre-allocate all of that would be exhausting and inefficient.
By using the Black Iron Ball instead, Peter could focus on training Speed Boost, and perhaps—
with the stat increase after evolution—even awaken the Ability further.
The road ahead was clear.
And the next evolution…
was closer than ever.
