Chapter 2 - Before a big event

The nob squeaked as I turned it, and freezing water shot out of the faucet head.

Just like the water that seeped into the iron mountains, it would freeze on its way down to my cavern, where it would hit my body, how those days had been miserable, sleeping on the cold cavern floors for thousands of years.

Steam started to form over the mirrors.

I washed the grime off of my body. Once I was done, I wrapped a towel around my waist.

I grabbed my spare clothes from out my locker; it was just some blue jeans and a baggy white shirt. I left the locker room; I had some time to burn before my nighttime Magics class.

The stone floors echoed with each step I made; there was a little bit of light still coming in through the stained glass windows, or maybe they were just old? Who knew?

I had managed to find the main stairs in the confusing ass building, like who made this place to have hallways that lead to nothing?

I made my way up to the 4th floor, the floor for Royals in first year.

I entered my room; it was cleaned up while I was gone. I had already told the maids they didn't have to clean my room... maybe I'll make them some bread or something, or maybe I'll learn some other modern delicacy and make that.

I sat down on my couch and looked at my stack of papers; I would need to turn them in soon.

Knock knock.

"Who's there?" I said while getting up from the black couch.

"Wanna hang out tonight?" I heard Devin say while he waited for me to open the door.

I opened the door. "Well, I've got magic classes at 12 but beyond those, no, I'm free."

"Well, I was going to go out with some of the others and get some food; wanna join?" He was leaning against the door frame.

"Yeah, sure," I didn't particularly like bigger groups of people especially if they were the group Devin normally hangs out with.

I stepped into the halls and locked the door behind me.
