Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Dragon Answers His Call

The sealed gate was no longer silent.

Cracks spread across its surface like veins of molten gold, heat pouring into the chamber in suffocating waves. Ancient runes flickered erratically, some dimming, others burning brighter as if struggling to maintain control.

The dungeon trembled.

Not violently.

Nervously.

Aiden stood before the gate, unmoving, his coat fluttering in the heated air. Every instinct in his body screamed that what lay beyond was not meant to be released.

And yet—

He did not step back.

The system interface hovered steadily before his eyes.

[Summoning Trial: Final Stage]Requirement:Complete the third Conquest Mission

Current Progress:2 / 3

Behind him, the hunters had retreated to the edges of the chamber. Some clutched their weapons in fear. Others stared at Aiden as if he were a monster wearing human skin.

"This dungeon is collapsing," a mage shouted. "We need to retreat!"

"No," Lina said sharply.

She didn't take her eyes off Aiden.

"He's not done yet."

A new presence entered the chamber.

Cold.

Sharp.

Unlike Lina's steady resolve, this presence carried hostility—raw and unfiltered.

A woman stepped forward from the shadows.

Tall. Pale-skinned. Silver hair pulled into a tight braid. Her hunter coat bore the insignia of a rival guild.

Her eyes locked onto Aiden with open contempt.

"So this is him," she said coldly. "The reason this dungeon's gone mad."

Lina's expression hardened. "Seris. This is not your operation."

Seris scoffed. "Then you've lost control of it."

She turned her gaze back to Aiden. "You're playing with something beyond your rank, boy."

Aiden met her stare calmly.

"I know."

The system chimed.

[Compatible Target Detected.][Emotional State: Hostile | High Dominance Potential]

Aiden's focus sharpened.

So this was the final test.

[Conquest Mission #3]

Seris felt it.

The pressure.

She frowned slightly, instinctively activating her mana.

"You're standing too close to that gate," she warned. "Step aside."

Aiden didn't move.

"You don't command me," he replied.

The dungeon's mana surged.

Seris's eyes widened as invisible pressure pushed against her aura, forcing her to brace her feet against the ground.

"What—"

"This dungeon is responding to him," Lina said quietly. "Not you."

Seris snarled. "Ridiculous."

She took a step forward—

And froze.

Aiden's gaze met hers.

Not angry.

Not arrogant.

Absolute.

"You came here to take control," he said evenly. "But you already know you can't."

Her breath caught.

She felt it.

The truth.

Every instinct screamed that opposing him here would mean annihilation—not by his hand, but by the dungeon itself.

"…What are you?" she whispered.

Aiden took one step closer.

"I'm the one the seal recognizes."

Silence fell.

The pressure intensified.

Seris's knees trembled.

Then—

She lowered her head.

Just slightly.

"…Damn it," she muttered. "Fine. I yield."

The system rang like a bell struck by fate.

[Conquest Mission #3 Complete.]

Power exploded through Aiden's body.

This time, it wasn't subtle.

Mana roared through his veins, carving new pathways, strengthening muscle, bone, and will. The dungeon's oppressive heat vanished entirely, replaced by reverent stillness.

[All Stats Increased by +20.][Bloodline Release: 10%][Dragon Summoning Unlocked.]

The sealed gate shattered.

Not violently.

Gracefully.

Stone dissolved into light as ancient runes unraveled, their purpose fulfilled.

A summoning circle ignited beneath Aiden's feet—vast, intricate, glowing with authority older than kingdoms.

Fire erupted.

The hunters screamed and shielded their eyes.

Chains of light snapped apart midair.

And then—

She emerged.

Tall.

Magnificent.

Wings of obsidian and flame unfurled behind her, each feather edged with glowing embers. Crimson hair cascaded down her back like liquid fire, horns curving elegantly from her temples.

Golden eyes surveyed the chamber.

And then—

They locked onto Aiden.

Ignis Draconia stepped forward.

The dungeon bowed.

Literally.

Stone cracked as the chamber lowered itself by inches, as if kneeling before its rightful ruler.

Aiden stood his ground.

Ignis stopped before him, her gaze burning.

"So," she said, her voice deep and resonant, echoing with ancient power. "You are his son."

"Yes," Aiden replied.

She circled him slowly, heat radiating from her skin.

"You smell like him," she continued. "But your will is different."

Aiden met her gaze.

"I don't intend to chain you," he said calmly. "Or command you."

Her lips curved into a dangerous smile.

"Then why summon me?"

"Because power shouldn't rot in seals," he answered. "And neither should you."

Ignis laughed.

A rich, thunderous sound.

"Bold," she said. "Foolish… and bold."

She stopped directly before him.

"Kneel," she said suddenly.

The hunters gasped.

Lina tensed.

Aiden did not move.

"I don't kneel," he replied.

Ignis's smile widened.

Good.

She lowered herself—

And knelt.

Not in submission.

In acknowledgment.

"Ignis Draconia," she declared, one fist pressed to the ground."Recognizes Aiden Blackwood as her summoner."

The system exploded with confirmation.

[Legendary Beast Contract Established.][Ignis Draconia — Active Companion]

The dungeon stabilized instantly.

Cracks sealed.

Mana calmed.

The catastrophe had ended.

Ignis rose and looked at the stunned hunters.

"Leave," she said simply.

No one argued.

As the chamber emptied, Ignis turned back to Aiden.

"This is only the beginning," she said quietly. "The world will come for you now."

Aiden nodded.

"I know."

And for the first time since stepping into the dungeon—

He smiled without restraint.
