Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: The Grumpy Kitten

Monday Morning, 8:30 AM.

Elian was ready for University. He tried to look normal.

He wore a soft beige sweater and blue jeans. He grabbed his bag and ran to the elevator.

"Okay," Elian whispered to himself. "New day. Forget the weekend. Forget the Twins. You are just a student."

Ding.

The elevator doors opened on the 40th Floor.

Elian stepped in, looking at his phone.

Suddenly, the doors didn't close. A hand stopped them.

Two tall figures stepped inside.

Elian froze.

It was Them.

Kieran in a sharp grey suit, looking like a CEO.

Kaelen in a black leather jacket and black shirt, looking like a trouble.

"Going down?" Kieran asked politely, pressing the button.

The elevator was small. Or maybe they were just too big.

They didn't stand in the corners. They stood right next to Elian.

Elian was sandwiched between them.

"Excuse me," Elian squeaked, clutching his bag. "Personal space?"

"This is a shared amenity," Kaelen smirked, looking straight ahead but leaning so close his arm brushed Elian's.

As the elevator descended, Kaelen lowered his head slightly. He sniffed near Elian's ear.

"You changed your soap," Kaelen whispered, his voice vibrating in the small space. "I liked the Vanilla one better."

Elian shivered. "I... I ran out."

Kieran, on the other side, reached out his hand.

Elian flinched, thinking he was going to be grabbed.

But Kieran just gently fixed Elian's messy collar. His fingers lingered on Elian's neck for a second too long. A warm, electric touch.

"Your tag is sticking out," Kieran murmured. "Messy."

Elian stopped breathing.

One was smelling him. The other was dressing him.

The air in the lift was thick with tension.

Ding. Ground Floor.

Elian bolted out like a bullet. "Bye! Have a nice life!"

The Twins watched him run, smirking.

"He's fast," Kaelen chuckled.

"Let the games begin," Kieran adjusted his tie.

They Are Everywhere

Elian thought he escaped. He was wrong.

Elian was sitting in History class, trying to focus.

He looked out the window.

Parked at the gate was a sleek Black Maybach. The window rolled down just an inch.

Elian swore he saw a pair of Blue Eyes staring right at him.

He blinked, and the car drove away.

"I'm hallucinating," Elian rubbed his temples.

 The Cafe

"So," Chloe was saying, eating a salad. "You still haven't told us where you were yesterday."

"I told you, I was sick! thats why I went condo directly." Elian lied, sweating.

The waiter arrived with a tray.

"Compliments of the gentlemen at the corner table," the waiter said, placing a Vanilla Bean Cheesecake in front of Elian.

Elian whipped his head around.

At the corner table, hidden in shadows, two men in suits raised their coffee cups at him.

Elian choked on his water.

When he looked again after coughing, the table was empty. Only a napkin remained.

"Who sent you cake?!" Milo screamed.

"Do you have a sugar daddy?!"

"No!" Elian pushed the cake away. "It's... it's poisoned! Don't eat it!" (He totally ate it later).

 The Shopping Mall

After class, Elian went to buy pens.

He was looking at a mirror in the shop.

In the reflection, he saw Kaelen Blackwood standing behind a mannequin, winking at him.

Elian spun around.

Just a shopper in a black jacket. Not Kaelen.

"I am going crazy," Elian whispered. "They are haunting me."

 The Evening Lift (The Explosion)

6:00 PM.

Elian returned to The Obsidian Tower. He was exhausted. His nerves were fried.

All he wanted was his bed and peace.

He pressed the button. The elevator arrived.

He stepped in.

Ding.

The doors opened on the Lobby.

Kieran and Kaelen stepped in. Again.

Elian snapped.

The "Grumpy Kitten" mode activated.

He threw his bag on the floor. He crossed his arms. He glared at them (which wasn't scary at all because he looked like an angry bunny).

"S-Stop it!" Elian shouted.

The Twins blinked, surprised. They looked at each other, then at Elian.

"Stop what?" Kieran asked innocently.

"S-Stop... f-following me!" Elian stuttered, his face turning red with frustration.

He pointed a shaking finger at Kaelen. "I saw you! At the Uni! And the Mall! And the Cake!"

"We own the mall, Elian," Kaelen grinned, leaning against the wall. "We were just... inspecting."

"And the cake?" Elian demanded.

"You looked hungry," Kieran said simply.

"Y-You are... you are stalking me!" Elian stammered. "It's c-creepy! And w-weird! And... and why are you always in the elevator when I am?!"

He was breathing hard, his violet eyes flashing with anger.

"Leave me a-alone! I am not a... a toy!"

The elevator went silent.

Elian thought he had made them angry. He braced himself for them to yell.

Instead...

Kaelen let out a low laugh.

"God, he is cute when he's grumpy,"

Kaelen whispered to Kieran.

Kieran nodded, his eyes soft. "Very."

They stepped closer. Elian backed up until he hit the wall.

"We aren't following you, Elian," Kieran said, trapping him gently.

"We are just... gravitationally pulled toward you," Kaelen finished, looking down at Elian's angry pout.

"Whatever that means!" Elian huffed, crossing his arms tighter. "Just... go away!"

Ding. 40th Floor.

Elian grabbed his bag and stomped out.

"I am changing my code! Don't come for dinner!" Uffff.... What I'm talking about... Just go away! Elian shout...

The doors closed.

Inside the elevator, the Twins were smiling like idiots.

"Did you hear that?" Kaelen asked.

"Yes," Kieran adjusted his glasses. "He implied that usually, we do come for dinner."

"Progress," Kaelen grinned.
