SERAPHINA "Sera" MORTEZ'S POINT OF VIEW
My eyes flew wide as I registered what I'd just said. I shook my head frantically, trying to pull free from Lucian's grip.
What is wrong with you, Seraphina? Since when are you so easy? Idiot! Stupid! I berated myself, refusing to meet his gaze.
I had to get away—if he kissed me now, I knew I wouldn't be able to resist the pull.
"Look at me, Sera," he said, his voice firm with authority. But I kept shaking my head, squeezing my eyes shut instead of looking at him.
"I don't want to!" I protested, putting on a show of defiance.
I felt him release one of my hands, his palm moving to cup my jaw instead—gently but firmly turning my face toward his.
"Calm down… just look at me."
I shook my head again. "I said no!"
