" I have gotten leads on where Ash could be, " he said with a tired sigh. He had been very busy for the past few days handling problems that he wasn't prepared for and answering to the higher-ups over the issues that apparently happened in his turf.
And the two of them could tell that he was drained , another thing that he was busy with was Ash disappearance ... since he was part of his trainee then if anything were to happen then he would have to answer and even if it was an escape there are people who would want to use it to weaken his position since it was one of his people.
"But before I can tell you what I found …. You will need to sign this. " Kurt passed them a folder containing a document which stated that whatever they heard in the room stayed with them unless he gave them the right to, and they were not allowed to act without orders.
This was something that they had signed when they volunteered for the bastion , but this one seemed to be an agreement between them and their captain . This meant that whatever they were going to be hearing right now was confidential information that could put him in trouble, and they didn't have any idea why he was doing so.
" I found this at the scene, rings any bell ? " he asked placing two blue crystal balls on the table, they were both confused at first unsure but then Lilys eyes lit up in surprise " one of them is a Ren seed while the other seemed to be some kind of poison ..... very potent to be precise and I'm sure they belonged to Ash " he said calmly before putting a piece of material on the table.
"You didn't know about this, but although you believe that gates are naturally occurring, there is a way for you to open them artificially. The materials are almost impossible to find and ...…. These are only possible to exist as relics of old, " Kurt said calmly, letting the thought sink in. The person who seemed most lost was Tian, whose eyes turned distant as if trying to bring back an old memory, but quickly snapped back.
The room remained silent as they tried to swallow and digest the new information. It took a while, but Tian eventually spoke up, "I didn't even think that was possible, but wait ..... how does this affect Ash ?" Tian asked, still unsure about the whole thing, "Did Ash ever tell you how he ended up here ? "It was Kurt's time to be surprised since he guessed that, with the extent to which they were close , it shouldn't be hard to discern with the intel he gave.
He then told them about everything he could about Ash, from how influential his family was to how he was sent to the bastion on charges of murder, which they didn't believe at all, mainly Lily, who shook her head vehemently, not wanting to believe, not leaving out attempts that had been made on his life in the past that had been blocked.
By the end of the explanation, Lily seemed to have been reignited, seething with pure rage, barely holding back with willpower alone. Tian seemed calm, but no one could tell what he was thinking. The only thing different was the coldness in his eyes. Whatever was going through his head at the moment wasn't a good thing, but they all knew that there was nothing that they could do at this time against a family as powerful as Hargreaves .
From what they got from the explanation was that Ash was somehow lured to the hall where he was somehow able to hold his own against the attacker forcing him to use the abominable artifact maybe in a bid to escape also killing the night guard's outside but many things didn't add up , more like Kurt wasn't telling the complete truth and even if he did say it they had an inkling.
But it wasn't like they had a choice anyway; they just had to take what he said, then when they were stronger, they could find out more, or maybe at a certain point in time.
"So what you are trying to say is that Ash is on the other side ?" Lily finally spoke up , "It's just a theory that we have, but it's plausible since we know that the gate has exceeded its entry limit, and my guess is that the kid is inside. " Kurt explained, ending with a depressed sigh, slumping into his seat.
" I know what you want to say that it's impossible, but in the world of magic, there is no such thing as impossible , it's just hasn't happened yet, and it's just very rare ..... There were records, " Kurt added, "but you used to be, but it isn't available. " Lily asked, and he did nothing but nod in silence. It's been known for the longest time that if any living human under the age of awakening [sixteen] were to go into a gate, they would be torn to shreds, both soul and body, but with Kurt's words, they were still hopeful of finding him.
"What if we go for a clear ? " Lily now asked , " That's going to be a problem .... You see this gate has a very unique rule which only allows two people in before going into lockdown but there is good news " Kurt paused this time with a smile on his face " from what the gate expert said then the gate should grow in a year or two to allow more and since it hasn't left lockdown then there is a possibility that he is still out there " Kurt said as he watched their face relax.
"But who is the second person inside since you said that it was on lockdown ?" Tian calmly pointed out stating something that there almost missed " you don't have to worry about him , it's just someone that we suspect to be one of the assailant " he pushed the topic away , lily wanted to argue but Tian stopped her , if he didn't want to tell them then they won't prob since they would figure it out any way.
" I'm still confused about why you are telling us about this ?"Tian asked " you two are the only people that I trust enough since you are close to him and the only people who could really put in the effort to rescue the kid , I'm going to be training you guys to do just that" Kurt replied calmly with his eyes on the ceiling , Lily had question but decided not to ask since asking questions didn't come with good things but she was already skeptical about the whole arrangement and something didn't sit right with him.
She had every right not to trust his intention, and Kurt knew, and he also knows they don't have any other option than to trust him and not intend to betray them. "Let's say I owe the kid's dad a big favor."
