(Just wondering, am I writing too slow or too fast? From where we're at in the story, we're 4 arcs away before the first saga of the story ends.)
...
"So the sports festival is coming up." Jin then smiled at Kaori. "This brings back memories, doesn't it dear?" He asked, as he and his family were eating dinner together.
"It sure does. I remember when we had to run our own stalls after the battle. It was so tiring but so worth it." Kaori reminisced.
"You guys had to run your own stalls too?" Sukuna questioned. Jin nodded in response.
"Of course. Even though it's the same thing every year, there's always something to it that made it largely different. What did we do for our stall again?" Jin asked Kaori.
"A food stall. But only because the class couldn't decide what to do so we just ran with the simplest option. In the end we turned out to be the most popular one."
"Well that's because you're such a great cook, dear." Jin smiled, cupping a side of his wife's face with his hand, causing Kaori to giggle. Sukuna resisted the urge to roll his eyes, somewhat used to his parents' display of affection in front of him. But still, do they know that he was there during all of this?
'To be honest, I'd rather have them do this than be the parents that constantly argue with each other.' He mused, finishing his food.
"Ah by the way, we'll be attending the festival." Jin added, smiling at his son.
"Uh... why?" Sukuna asked, feeling awkward all of the sudden. His parents looked at each other before laughing.
"To cheer for you silly!" Kaori said in between laughter. "There's no way I'm going to miss out watching my son fight!" Jin nodded in agreement with her.
"For the remaining weeks, give it your all during the training and planning, but don't forget to enjoy the process with your friends. That's what makes school enjoyable and memorable after all." Sukuna nodded silently at his father.
"Oh yeah! Are Mina's parents going to be there?" Kaori asked. Sukuna blinked.
"Yes they are. Why do you ask?" Kaori whistled at her son's question, his gaze concentrated at her, full of suspicion.
"Oh nothing, just want to meet my future in-laws."
"Excuse me?"
"Nothingggg dearrr~ Muehehehehehe!"
...
"So I was thinking... Maybe we can add a small confetti explosion at the end when they complete the course." Denki suggested as all 21 of them arranged their tables to make it look like a board meeting in class.
"Then the place would become a mess, and I'm confident that none of us here want to be on cleaning duty. Plus the wind might blow the confetti away. I'd rather not have complaints from customers and other classes please." Momo sighed.
"Aww man..." Denki pretended to be saddened by the rejection. Jiro rolled her eyes at his antics.
"We can't afford to look sloppy here." Ida began. "The teachers are evaluating, agencies are observing and the public already knows about us because of the U.S.J. incident."
"Way to put the pressure on all of us, Ida." Uraraka grumbled. Sukuna hummed as he stared at the whiteboard full of ideas.
"Our stall will be in the stadium concourse. We've already applied for the amount of space we needed to the principal, so that's settled. And any disagreements from other classes would be non-existent since we wouldn't taking space they already applied for."
"I'm surprised we're the only ones that have applied for the spacing, not counting the seniors of course. You'd think the Business Course would've probably have their stalls built by now." Tsuyu commented.
"I mean, we're still 3 weeks away from the sports festival. Maybe they wanted to chill a little." Jiro shrugged. Momo shook her head.
"We can't afford any delays. I'd like to ensure the children have a good time."
"Why the hell are you so enthusiastic about this?! It's not like we're the ones that are going to be playing later." Bakugo argued.
"Because they're the reasons heroes exist." Momo replied casually. Bakugo was stumped at what she said, quieting down into deep thought.
"I would be handling the prop designs. We can test it out to ensure its stability at a later date. But for now, we need it to be immersive. Midoriya? Mina? What have you two come up with?" She smiled at the two. Izuku cleared his throat a little before beginning.
"Well, since we've decided on an indoor setup, we would give them a rescue mission, civilian extraction during a minor structural collapse to be precise. Participants would enter in small teams up to 3 people, they then would be given a briefing and their roles assigned by Ida."
"Of course he's the one doing the briefing." Bakugo grumbled, causing some to laugh.
"What's that supposed to mean?" A suspicious Ida glanced at him.
" Nothing four eyes..."
"I know this may sound a little difficult, but can we possibly have interchangeable setups in between one mission?"
"You know you're evil for suggesting that, man. What if the children want to try again, thinking they have the course memorized only to find out it's completely different?" Sero questioned. Mina grinned.
"I mean, that's what being a hero is about right? You're forced to adapt no matter the situation. It's gonna be fine, the courses won't be hard. But we are still going ahead with the plan for creating multiple setups for different age groups right?" Mina asked Momo who nodded in response.
"I have already assigned different teams and their respective shifts to assist with handling the setups. I hope you're fine with my arrangements." She looked at the class, expecting someone (Bakugo) to disagree with it. Though when she noticed that everyone was either or nodding in approval, she internally sighed in relief.
"Though what's this about the roles though?" Kirishima questioned.
"It's just to make it more immersive. We have the Scout who navigate obstacles, then the Stabilizer who carries the mannequin that's going to be the 'injured civilian', lastly the Support role whose task is to clear light debris and activate safe zones."
She continued. " We've already have the storyline plotted out. When they enter the entrance zone, Ida's going to brief them, telling the kids that they're junior heroes responding to an emergency call before assigning them the roles I just said."
"There would be three stages inside the 'disaster zones', first they'd navigate debris, then they'd locate the injured mannequin, and the third stage is when they'd adapt when a 'secondary hazard' triggers. And when they come out, we do a 'debriefing'."
Momo nodded at Mina's explanation, glad that she made the right call assigning them for the immersion part. "That's all and well, but we still need to design the setups..."
"Me, Tokoyami, Tsuyu and Koda can handle the floorplans. What you really should focus on are the shifts. Some of us want to compete in the Disaster Logistics Simulation, Strategy And Analysis Trial, and also some other competitions." Sukuna reminded. The class nodded at his words.
The Disaster Logistics Simulation was simple. Students are dropped into a mock city block with injured actors, blocked routes, limited supplies. Students earn points for triage accuracy, evacuation efficiency, and minimizing secondary damage. In this case, the star performer isn't the strongest. It's the one who thinks like an emergency systems engineer.
With the Strategy And Analysis Trial, think chess, but with Quirks. Teams are given incomplete intel about a simulated villain scenario. They must draft an action plan under time pressure. Judges score clarity, risk assessment, and contingency planning. This is where someone like Midoriya shines without throwing a single punch.
Then there'd be a Public Communication Challenge, where students hold a mock press conference after a fictional crisis. They answer hostile questions from actual journalists, reassure civilians, and avoid saying something that tanks public trust. In Sukuna's opinion, this was the most brutal one, since power doesn't save a person from a microphone.
There was even an Ethics Debate Round, where students argue in timed rounds. Judges watch for logical consistency, moral reasoning, and the ability to stay calm when someone attacks one's premise. Alongside with the Strategy And Analysis Trial and Disaster Logistics Simulation, Sukuna would be joining this competition too.
And lastly, because UA is still a school, there would be academic decathlon-style mini events. Rapid problem solving. Forensics puzzles. Quirk theory quizzes. Think academic Olympics but televised.
Jiro nodded in agreement. "I'm probably not gonna do well in the combat tournament, while that doesn't mean I won't try my best, I'd like to find other ways to land myself an internship." She reasoned, with others nodding in agreement with her.
"And no way I'm going through this without enjoying the festival!" Hagakure added, with more nodding in agreement with her.
Internally, Mina was planning another hangout session with Sukuna. There's no way she's letting this opportunity go damnit!
Momo sighed and glanced at Sukuna who seemed amused.
This was going to be tiring, but somehow it felt fun for the class.
To be continued.....
