Ash's POV
I took the stairs two at a time to the second floor and stopped dead outside Xander's bedroom door. The music inside was cranked so loud the bass made the walls shake. Knocking would be pointless. I shoved the door open and walked in.
What I saw made my stomach drop. Xander was pinned under a loaded barbell, the metal bar wobbling dangerously over his chest. Six hundred pounds of iron fought against his trembling arms while his face turned beet red.
"Jesus Christ," I swore, rushing across the room.
I grabbed the bar and helped him rack it. The crash of metal on metal rang through the room. Xander sat up slowly, gasping for air as sweat streamed down his chest. He leaned over and killed the music.
"Hey there, Ashy," Xander grinned like he hadn't almost died. "Thanks for the spot."
"You complete moron," I snapped. "That's two-fifty over your max. What the hell were you thinking?"
