They often passed by and caught glimpses of massive fish fins looming beneath the surface of the lake, sometimes even hearing the thunderous splashes of water. It was just that the lake's surface was too expansive, and the water unfathomably deep. Without any boats or rafts, catching them was no easy feat.
The moment a human silhouette cast a shadow over the lake or a faint noise caused the slightest ripple on the surface, the cunning school of fish would flick their tails and dive straight to the very bottom. They plunged deep into the rocky crevices beneath the lakebed, rendering nets cast from the shore completely useless, and normal baits or conventional traps left by the banks failed to entice a single large fish.
However, judging by the intense allure of these mangled Brown Crabs, perhaps that distinctively pungent, fishy scent was the key. Those giant fish hiding at the bottom of the lake might actually be drawn to it and willingly throw themselves into the trap.
