It was only at this precise moment that a realization struck Ewan with the force of a physical blow. There was a distinct possibility, nay, a probability, that Asher Ryder would possess absolutely no frame of reference for what this particular confection actually was. And if the man did happen to recognize it... well, Ewan's grand entrepreneurial scheme would be utterly ruined before it even began.
With a heart beating a slightly more erratic rhythm than usual, Ewan decided to test the waters, his voice tinged with a nervous tremor as he ventured: "Do you... have any inkling as to what this might be?"
The man stood there, stoic as ever, and simply shook his head in negation.
A wave of relief washed over Ewan, abrupt and overwhelming, causing him to exhale a breath he hadn't realized he was holding in his lungs. "It is called cotton candy." He announced, the tension leaving his shoulders as he presented the fluffy treat with a flourish.
