Chapter 58: Tailed Beast Ball
A dark crimson cloak-like layer burned around Killer B's body like molten magma, wrapping him tightly.
Every strand of his hair radiated a terrifying red glow, while the white bone protrusions at his elbows gleamed coldly and lethally under the sunlight.
The eight thick chakra tails behind him danced wildly. Each sweep split the earth into deep trenches, sending rocks and broken tree trunks flying like leaves caught in a storm.
"Tailed Beast Ball~ destroy everything~ Azure Gale brat~ receive my attack~"
Killer B's rap turned hoarse and savage, no longer carrying its earlier rhythm. All that remained was pure destructive intent.
He lowered himself close to the ground like a feral beast. The eight dark crimson tail tips behind him gathered into a single point. A black sphere of energy formed instantly and began to expand.
Distorted crimson light spiraled around it. The air tore apart with a piercing shriek, and even the space around it seemed to tremble under the terrifying pressure of that power.
Izumo's brows furrowed.
"This is bad."
Without the slightest hesitation, his hands formed seals at high speed. Chakra surged like a flooding river, flowing into the ground.
"Earth Release: Multiple Earth-Style Wall!"
The first earthen wall rose from the ground in a semi-arched shape. Three meters tall and two meters thick, its surface was covered in fine patterns—the highest form of a master-level Earth-Style Wall.
But Izumo knew it was still far from enough.
Half a meter behind it, a second wall rose. It was over a meter taller and half a meter thicker.
Then the third, fourth, and fifth walls followed in rapid succession.
In less than three seconds, five earth walls of increasing height formed a layered defensive structure like steps in front of Izumo.
The front wall stood three meters tall, while the rearmost had already reached seven meters. They stood like five small hills in a row, shielding Izumo and a portion of the Konoha shinobi behind him.
But that wasn't all.
The moment the fifth wall formed, Izumo slammed both palms onto the ground and shouted in a low voice,
"Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field!"
A flow of pale blue sticky liquid erupted from the surface of the five earth walls, coating them evenly and forming a thick gel-like layer.
The surface of the liquid shimmered with spiraling chakra patterns. Its stickiness multiplied several times over, while faintly carrying a chakra-corrosive effect.
The black sphere of energy finished forming.
The eight tails behind Killer B trembled at once. The black sphere, carrying an aura of absolute destruction, shot forward with a force that seemed capable of shattering heaven and earth, blasting straight toward Izumo.
The air along its path burned and warped. Pebbles on the ground melted into glowing liquid. A black trail lingered in the sky, radiating pressure that made breathing feel suffocating.
The Tailed Beast Ball slammed violently into the first earth wall.
The terrifying impact instantly covered the wall's surface in cracks. The pale blue sticky water layer detonated like ignited explosives, splashing in all directions.
But the layered structure played a crucial role.
Instead of exploding on contact, the Tailed Beast Ball was slightly pushed upward by the sticky water and the angled surface of the earth wall. It slid along the surface of the second and third walls.
Each time it destroyed a wall, its trajectory shifted further upward.
The dark red Tailed Beast chakra collided with the sticky water layer and Earth Release chakra, producing deafening booms. In less than two seconds, all five earth walls collapsed one after another. Shattered stone, sticky liquid, and remnants of Tailed Beast chakra fused into a raging torrent of wild energy.
This was Izumo's technique—using the layered structure of Multiple Earth-Style Wall to alter the Beast Ball's trajectory, then utilizing the stickiness of the Starch Syrup Capturing Field to increase friction and force the sphere upward.
"Upward!" Izumo roared, pouring the last of his chakra into the debris of the final wall. The stickiness of the Starch Syrup Capturing Field reached its maximum, like a giant adhesive net clinging tightly to the underside of the Beast Ball, forcing it into the air.
The black sphere paused for an instant in midair, then shot upward like a cannon shell fired into the sky. It pierced through the clouds, shrinking into a tiny black dot before descending toward empty land in the distance.
"It worked…" Izumo let out a long breath.
In the distance, a world-shaking explosion echoed.
The Tailed Beast Ball detonated upon hitting the ground.
A catastrophic storm swept across heaven and earth. A dark crimson shockwave spread outward like ripples across water, covering an area several kilometers wide.
The clouds were torn apart, and the sky turned a clear blue in an instant. The explosive wind surged like a tsunami toward the battlefield. Trees along its path were uprooted completely.
When the blast reached the front lines, the shinobi had to shield their faces with their arms just to keep from losing their vision in the raging wind.
Izumo's brown hair was lifted and tossed by the gust before settling again. His expression hardened.
He saw Killer B's figure—like a streak of red lightning—piercing through the storm and charging straight toward him. The eight Tailed Beast tails behind him left afterimages in the air, emitting sharp, wind-splitting cries.
"His speed is still increasing!"
Izumo's heart trembled.
He didn't dare relax even for a moment. Chakra erupted beneath his feet. Shave and the Body Flicker Technique activated simultaneously.
His body transformed into a bluish-green streak of light that shot away, narrowly avoiding Killer B's sweeping tails.
The Tailed Beast tails smashed into the spot where Izumo had stood moments before. The ground collapsed, forming a crater several meters deep. Rocks and dirt scattered everywhere.
The first strike missed. Killer B spun and attacked again, faster than before. The chakra fluctuations in his Tailed Beast cloak grew wilder and more unstable.
Izumo darted across the battlefield. Green afterimages and crimson tail shadows intertwined, forming a strange and terrifying curtain of light.
He tried to counterattack.
Chakra gathered at his fingertips.
"Finger Pistol: Armor Breaker!"
The thrust aimed straight at Killer B's chest.
The attack struck the outer Bijū cloak—but failed to pierce it. As Izumo pushed harder, his fingers were instead repelled, numbness spreading through his hand, as if burned by the dark crimson chakra.
"Tempest Kick: Four-Blade Style!"
Midair, Izumo launched a follow-up attack. Four dense green slashes intertwined into a net and slammed heavily into Killer B's body.
But only several faint white marks remained on the outer Bijū cloak. In the next instant, they were swallowed again by the dark crimson chakra and restored completely.
"Tailed Beast outer cloak~ impenetrable~"
Killer B's rap rang with manic laughter. His attacks grew even more savage. The eight tails moved like eight steel whips, sweeping, stabbing, and coiling simultaneously, compressing Izumo's space until there was almost nowhere left to move.
While dodging, Izumo swept his gaze across the battlefield.
Killer B's attack range was too wide. Many shinobi were caught in the sweeping Bijū tails—some were flung away with severe injuries, while others were killed instantly.
The defensive line that had once stabilized began collapsing again. Kumogakure's shinobi seized the opening and launched a large-scale assault, and Konoha's situation worsened rapidly.
"This can't continue!"
Izumo activated Moonwalk, stepping on the air as he shot toward the forest.
Just as he expected, Killer B immediately gave chase.
The crimson figure tore through the forest's edge. The Bijū tails lashed wildly, and trees toppled one after another with thunderous crashes. Wood fragments filled the air.
Killer B was gradually losing control. In his eyes, only the intent to kill Izumo remained. His attacks became increasingly reckless—anything in his path, whether trees, rocks, or Konoha shinobi unfortunate enough to be in the way, was destroyed without mercy.
A young Konoha Genin failed to dodge in time. He was struck by a Bijū tail. His body flew like a kite with a snapped string, crashing into a tree trunk, lifeless.
Izumo witnessed the scene. Fury flashed in his eyes, yet he was powerless.
His attacks couldn't penetrate the Bijū cloak. All he could do was stall for time and search for an opening.
Inside the forest, the trees stood densely packed, vines intertwined everywhere. The power of the Bijū tails was terrifying, but they were often hindered by the tree trunks, slightly slowing their speed.
"Right… In open terrain, Killer B's Bijū power can be used to its fullest. But inside the forest, this complex terrain becomes an obstacle for him instead," Izumo thought.
Using the trees as cover, Izumo kept shifting positions. He observed Killer B's condition and realized that although his attacks were ferocious, their pattern was chaotic.
Clearly, Killer B hadn't fully mastered his Half-Tailed Beast Transformation.
"Maybe… there's still a chance."
