Chapter 55: Battle Against Killer B
In less than half an hour, Kamizuki Izumo had already killed three Kumogakure jōnin. His blue-green shadow streaked across the battlefield, and everywhere he passed, Kumogakure shinobi fell one after another.
Seeing that sight, the morale of the Konoha shinobi surged. The defensive line that had nearly collapsed slowly stabilized and began to reorganize into a counterattack.
"Lord Killer B, the Azure Gale of Konoha is too fast. Ordinary jōnin can't stop him. We need your help to step in!"
A Kumogakure high-ranking commander spoke to the dark-skinned man standing beside him.
"Oh~ Azure Gale~ oh so fast~ his taijutsu's real strong~ a decent opponent~ I'll be the one to face you~"
Killer B stepped forward toward Izumo. Lightning Release chakra faintly coiled around his legs. In the blink of an eye, he had already arrived in front of Izumo.
"Yo~ I'm Killer B~ come fight with me~ battle with rap~ the most fun there'll be~"
A loud alarm rang inside Izumo's mind. He could clearly sense the chakra waves radiating from Killer B's body, far surpassing that of an ordinary jōnin. Even stronger than the Four-Tails Jinchūriki, Rōshi, whom he had faced before.
"The Eight-Tails Jinchūriki?"
"Right~ that's me~" Killer B grinned widely, showing his white teeth. "Your speed~ really suits my taste~ come fight~ show me your strength~"
Before his words even finished, Killer B had already drawn two ninja swords from his back and swung them toward Izumo. The blades carried sharp gusts of wind. His rap continued flowing without pause.
"One slash~ two cut~ lightning unites~ power erupts~"
Izumo did not dare to be careless. He swung his kunai to block.
A sharp metallic clash rang out. Izumo's entire body was pushed back several steps, his arms going numb.
"So strong!"
A hint of praise flashed through Killer B's eyes. "Oh~ your strength~ not bad~ at all~"
He attacked again. Eight ninja swords—two in his hands and six clamped between various parts of his body—moved nimbly as if alive.
Slashes, thrusts, and swings shifted without pattern, combined with speed enhanced by Lightning Release, overwhelming Izumo.
Izumo took a deep breath and focused his mind. He might not be skilled in swordsmanship, but with his current neural reflex speed and the Body Flicker Technique accelerating parts of his body, holding off the opponent wasn't impossible.
On the battlefield, flashes of blades and weapon shadows intertwined. Lightning light and gusts of wind chased one another like thunder and storm.
Killer B's eight swords surged forward like a torrential rain. Each blade was wrapped in lightning, while his rap kept flowing.
"Lightning swords~ fast as a flash~ slashing at you~ without a dash~ Azure Gale boy~ take it now~"
Izumo moved nimbly within the dense web of slashes. His body floated like a willow leaf in the wind, each dodge passing mere inches from death. He didn't try to block.
Instead, he used this rare opportunity as training, sharpening his Paper Arts Technique, which had now reached the high expert level.
But Killer B's attacks were too dense and too fast. Izumo's Paper Arts began to feel heavy under the pressure, forcing him to swing his kunai again to defend.
Seeing Izumo being continuously pressured, several Konoha shinobi nearby tried to assist. However, two of them were instantly cut down by Killer B's blades.
I can't keep defending like this! Izumo thought inwardly.
He found an opening and activated Shave. His body instantly appeared at Killer B's left side. Chakra gathered in his right hand.
"Finger Pistol!"
The thrust shot straight toward Killer B's ribs.
Killer B reacted instantly. The ninja sword in his left hand moved to intercept, while his right leg wrapped in lightning kicked toward Izumo.
Izumo immediately activated Moonwalk, stepping on the air and leaping upward. Midair, he launched a counterattack.
"Tempest Kick!"
A wave of cutting air shot toward Killer B.
"Oh~ pretty interesting~" Killer B grinned. The swords in his hands spun rapidly, shattering the air blade. "But that's all~ still not enough~"
He pushed his Lightning Release chakra further. Lightning across his body blazed brightly. His speed and strength rose once more.
Like a bolt of lightning, he charged toward Izumo. Eight swords thrust forward simultaneously, sealing all escape routes.
Izumo's mind raced, searching for a way out. He drove chakra into the soles of his feet, activating Moonwalk while spinning his body rapidly, stirring the air around him into a vortex of wind.
"Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field!"
A stream of pale blue sticky water burst from beneath his feet, spreading along with the wind vortex, forming a massive adhesive whirlpool that swept toward Killer B.
Killer B's speed was too high, but the distance was already too close to avoid. Both of his legs were caught in the sticky whirlpool, and his speed dropped drastically.
"Now!"
Izumo seized the opportunity. He activated Shave and the Body Flicker Technique simultaneously. His body moved like a phantom within the vortex. The kunai in his hand was filled with chakra as he thrust straight toward Killer B's left chest, aiming at the heart.
Killer B's movements were hindered by the adhesive water. He could only swing his sword to defend. But Izumo's speed was too high, and his attack angle too tricky.
Sharp tearing sounds followed in rapid succession.
Killer B's arms and legs were slashed by the kunai. Blood seeped out.
"Oh~ kinda hurts~" Killer B frowned, yet his rap continued flowing. "Water Release~ sticky stuff~ but to trap me~ it's still not enough~"
The chakra inside his body exploded. The power of Lightning Release shattered the sticky water vortex. His legs were free again.
He then tossed his eight ninja swords into the air and formed hand seals.
"Lightning Release: Lariat!"
Killer B's body transformed into a bolt of lightning that shot toward Izumo. His speed surpassed imagination, even faster than Izumo's Shave.
Izumo's heart trembled. He immediately activated the Iron Body Technique and formed an Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall in front of him.
An explosive impact shook the air. The Lariat slammed into the earth wall violently. The wall shattered instantly. Izumo was blasted back by the shockwave and thrown to the ground. Dust filled the air. He spat out a mouthful of blood.
Killer B landed and looked at Izumo. A trace of respect shone in his eyes.
"Oh~ not bad~ You can take one of my attacks~ Azure Gale~ you're the first~"
Izumo slowly stood up. He wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and stared at Killer B with sharp eyes.
"Round two begins!"
