Chapter 46: Guidance
After a powerful, warm current swept through his entire body, Izumo felt the world become astonishingly clear.
The Chakra within him was no longer a closed, circulating flow. Instead, it spilled outward through the pores of his skin. The moment it touched the air, it gave off a strange sensation—like "touching something solid."
It wasn't the flow of wind, nor the hardness of stone, but rather a "structure that was intangible, yet undeniably real."
It felt like reaching out and touching an invisible web. His fingertips could clearly sense the knots and the tension within that web.
That sensation spread rapidly.
For example, when he "felt" a rock five meters away, it wasn't through sight. It was his Chakra touching the "spatial region" that the rock occupied. Its position, its size, even the "gap" formed behind it by the space it displaced—everything automatically formed within his mind.
Soon after, spatial fluctuations appeared.
When the wind blew, Izumo no longer just heard the sound or saw the flow of air. He directly sensed "a faint ripple in space itself."
At this moment, sight and hearing had become almost unnecessary.
His awareness was directly linked to space. The speed of an incoming attack, the point where it would land, even the next change in movement—all of it unfolded clearly in his mind as "spatial fluctuations."
Without realizing it, he activated his Chakra.
This time, it wasn't "commanding a substitution to swap places."
It was "pulling his own Chakra and moving toward the nearest point in space."
No hand seals. No afterimage. He didn't even feel the process of "moving."
His body seemed to be wrapped in space itself and relocated in an instant.
That "transparent" sensation made him feel as if his past self had always been trapped within "solid, tangible perception." And now, he had finally broken free, glimpsing another layer of the world's true essence.
Space was not an empty backdrop.
It was an "interactive medium" made up of countless points, paths, and endless fluctuations.
At the same time, this spatial perception gave him a deeper understanding of the "relationship between Chakra and the world."
Just as Izumo was sinking deeper into this realization, a soft knock sounded at the door. The rhythm was calm and familiar.
His movements paused.
Sensing the familiar Chakra outside, Izumo quickly stood, walked to the entrance, and opened the door.
Standing there was Namikaze Minato, his blond hair softly gleaming under the sunlight.
"Lord Minato?" A flicker of surprise passed through Izumo's eyes. He instinctively stepped aside to let him in. "Why are you here at this time?"
"I just finished some administrative work and happened to pass by this street," Minato said with a smile as he stepped into the house.
His gaze swept over the unopened scroll of Ninjutsu on the table before returning to Izumo. His tone was gentle as he asked, "Izumo, have you decided which Ninjutsu you plan to choose tomorrow?"
Izumo turned and poured a cup of warm tea for Minato. The rising steam blurred part of his face as he replied, "I'm thinking of choosing techniques that suit my current stage. Does Lord Minato have any good suggestions?"
Minato lightly tapped a finger against the rim of the teacup. Hearing that, the corner of his lips curved upward.
"Actually, your speed and Taijutsu are already among the best of your peers. Even your neural reaction speed has surpassed that of ordinary Jōnin. You remind me a lot of myself back then…" He paused, studying Izumo with interest. "Tell me, are you interested in the Flying Thunder God Technique?"
"The Flying Thunder God Technique? Lord Minato's space-time Ninjutsu?" Izumo's breath caught for a moment, his fingers unconsciously tightening around the teacup.
That was Namikaze Minato's signature technique—the "Ultimate Speed Technique of the Ninja World," feared across every nation. How could he not be interested?
"That's right." Minato nodded slowly, meeting Izumo's bright gaze. He raised a finger and gestured in the air as he explained, "The training requirements for the Flying Thunder God are extremely high. In addition to neural reaction speed and spatial perception, it also demands a strong foundation in Basic Fuinjutsu. Right now, in all of Konoha, I'm the only one who has successfully mastered this forbidden technique."
"I believe you have great potential to learn it. Take a look first and see if it's on that Ninjutsu list. If it is, I might be able to give you some guidance."
Hearing that, Izumo immediately unrolled the scroll.
But what he found inside were only standard Ninjutsu:
Shadow Clone Technique.
Water Release: Water Encampment Wall.
Water Release: Water Colliding Wave…
He shook his head toward Minato.
Minato felt a bit awkward at that and let out a small sigh. "I see. In that case, I'm sorry, Izumo. It looks like I can't offer you any advice this time."
The two of them chatted casually for a short while before Minato stood up to leave.
Watching Minato's back as he walked away, Izumo let out a quiet sigh in his heart.
Minato was a good person, but unfortunately, he didn't have the same kind of background as his own Sannin teacher, nor did he have the backing of a powerful clan.
With Konoha tightly controlling the circulation of Ninjutsu, they probably felt that giving him two techniques was already a massive concession.
For a ninja with a strong background, the reward for two S-Rank Missions might have been a Kinjutsu—a forbidden technique.
It really wasn't fair.
"But it's fine. I'll still have a chance to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique," Izumo thought to himself. "Just wait until Namikaze Minato rises in rank."
"Tomorrow, I'll choose these two techniques!"
