I sat on the examination table in the healer's room while she cleaned and bandaged my knee. The cut was deep but not dangerous. It would heal in a few days with proper care.
But I barely felt the pain from my knee. All I could think about was Rex's face when he came at me with that dagger. The empty look in his eyes. The way he moved was like a puppet on strings.
"All done, Luna," the healer said. She tied off the bandage and stepped back. "Try to stay off it as much as possible for the next day or two."
"Thank you," I said quietly.
The healer left, and I was alone in the small room. I looked down at my bandaged knee and felt tears starting again. I had cried so much today, I was surprised I had any tears left.
The door opened, and I looked up, expecting the healer to come back. But it was Urdon. He stood in the doorway just watching me silently.
"Are you okay?" he asked after a moment.
