Luffy stood at the edge of what used to be Arlong Park.
Below him, half-buried in shattered stone and broken pillars, Arlong's body lay still.
His long nose—the pride he flaunted like a crown—was bent and cracked, blood smeared across his face. One eye was swollen shut, the other staring blankly at nothing. Scales were torn, skin bruised dark purple and blue, his chest rising only faintly. The body that once sat like a king was now twisted, broken, and powerless, pressed into the ruins of his own throne.
Around him, chaos unraveled.
Fish-men ran.
They didn't shout orders anymore.
They didn't laugh.
They didn't boast.
They panicked.
"Run—run—he's down!"
"The human beat him!"
"Get to the sea—now!"
Some stumbled over debris, others shoved their own comrades aside. Weapons were dropped, claws trembled, eyes wide with fear. They leapt into the water without looking back, splashing wildly, disappearing beneath the waves like rats fleeing a sinking ship. For the first time, the fish-men knew fear—not of death, but of defeat.
Luffy looked down at the wreckage where Arlong lay.
Quietly, firmly, he said,
"That's why I had to beat you."
He turned away.
"For our navigator."
He didn't look back again.
Luffy walked slowly toward where Zoro and Sanji were standing, both bruised, both breathing hard, both still standing.
"Shishishishi," Luffy laughed softly, scratching his head.
"Looks like it's our win."
Zoro clicked his tongue, resting a hand on his sword.
"Tch. I wanted to slice that fish myself."
Sanji lit a cigarette with shaking fingers, smoke curling upward.
"Should've let me cook him."
Behind them, the villagers began to move.
Slowly.
Carefully.
People who had been hiding, crying, clinging to one another stepped out from behind rubble and trees. They looked at the ruins. They looked at the unconscious body of Arlong.
Then they looked at the three figures standing there.
No one spoke.
Tears began to fall.
Some villagers covered their mouths.
Some dropped to their knees.
Some simply stood there, shaking, unable to believe it was real.
Years of fear.
Years of silence.
Years of blood and submission.
Gone.
Nami stood among them.
She saw Luffy.
She saw the destruction.
She saw Arlong fallen.
Her legs gave out.
She sank to the ground, sobbing, and Nojiko caught her before she could fall completely, holding her tightly.
Nami buried her face into her sister's chest, crying harder than she ever had.
But this time, it was different.
There was no hatred in her tears.
No despair.
No loneliness.
Only relief.
Only freedom.
Only gratitude.
In a broken whisper, barely audible, she said,
"Thank you…
Really… thank you…"
Her voice trembled.
"Bellemere… did you see it…?"
All around them, the villagers cried with her.
Some laughed through tears.
Some embraced each other.
Some fell to the ground, pressing their foreheads to the earth.
The suffering was over.
The fight was over.
The pain was finally—finally—over.

..
..
..
But just when everyone thought it was over—
Boots echoed.
Heavy. Deliberate. Cold.
From the edge of the village, Marines poured in.
They didn't rush.
They didn't shout warnings.
They walked.
Rifles were raised one by one, metal barrels glinting under the sun, all of them pointed not at pirates—but at the villagers. The Marines shoved people aside to form a rough circle, barking orders with irritated voices, pushing old men back with gunstocks, forcing trembling villagers to freeze where they stood.
"Don't move."
"Hands where I can see them."
"Anyone runs, we shoot."
The celebration died instantly.
Tears stopped mid-fall.
Laughter vanished.
Hope froze in the air like glass about to shatter.
Then—
"Hahahahaha."
A shrill, ugly laugh cut through the silence.
An old man stepped forward from behind the Marine line.
Nezumi.
His face was narrow and sharp, eyes small and greedy, lips stretched into a crooked grin that showed yellowed teeth. Sweat ran down his temple, but his eyes were bright—excited, calculating. His rat-like nose twitched as he took in the ruined park, the fallen Arlong, the broken bodies.
"Hahaha… so you really did it," Nezumi said, clapping slowly.
"You defeated Arlong and his crew."
He laughed again, louder this time.
"With this," he continued, spreading his arms wide,
"I'll gain even more power. My reputation will rise. Promotions, praise, rankings—hahaha!"
He pointed a trembling finger toward the wreckage.
"The bounties are mine."
"The credit is mine."
"And all the money here—mine."
His grin widened as his gaze swept over the villagers like they were livestock.
"Everything here belongs to me now ..oh even those pretty ladies are mine now..."
Silence fell again.
Heavier than before.
No one cheered.
No one cried.
No one spoke.
The villagers stood frozen, fear creeping back into their eyes, disbelief sinking into their chests. After all that pain… after all that fighting… the nightmare wasn't gone.
Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji stood still.
Nami's breath hitched.
The wind passed through the ruins of Arlong Park, carrying dust and ash—but no one moved.
For a moment, no one knew what to feel.
Victory had turned into something sharp and uncertain.
And the silence stretched.
