Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Sorting: Fighting the Trolls?

It was a while before Harry came back to his senses, looking at Charlie with admiration.

"Charlie, you are the embodiment of a devil."

Ron nodded repeatedly; he had never heard such impactful words and emphasized in his heart that he must never provoke Charlie.

He didn't want anything to happen to his mother.

Harry rubbed his hands a little shyly: "Can you teach me?"

When he was at Dudley's house, he would also insult Dudley, but it was too weak compared to Charlie.

Once he learned Charlie's The Art of Arguing (Quarrel Scripture), wouldn't he be able to curse Dudley to death?

Charlie became interested; these techniques were all summarized from his online battles in his previous life.

They were the Sunflower Manual of the quarreling world. Seeing Harry interested, he exclaimed that he was not alone in his path.

He taught the two of them.

"The art of cursing emphasizes precise strikes and comprehensive coverage."

"Specifically, how?"

"The core secret is to take his mother as the center, three generations up and down as the radius, and greet them from all angles."

Ron's eyes widened: "What does that mean?"

"Simply put, it means cursing from his grandparents down to his grandchildren, with special attention to his mother."

Harry gave a sheepish smile, a troubled look flashing in his eyes.

Dudley was his aunt's son, and he was also Dudley's relative. Cursing like that would mean cursing himself too, wouldn't it?

Forget it, he couldn't use that trick.

Just as they were talking, the train began to slow down, and the announcement sounded: "Hogwarts has arrived, please prepare to disembark."

The three excitedly packed their things and walked out of the carriage.

The night air was cool, and the station was bustling with people.

"First-year students! First-year students over here!"

A giant figure stood out in the crowd; it was Hagrid.

He held a lantern and called out loudly.

Charlie and the other two quickly walked over, gathering around Hagrid with the other new students.

"Oh, Harry."

He greeted Harry excitedly after seeing him.

"Is everyone here? Good, follow me." Hagrid turned and walked forward.

"Watch your step."

They walked down a winding path, with dense forest on both sides.

The trees blocked the moonlight, making the surroundings pitch black, with only Hagrid's lantern dimly illuminating the way ahead.

Some of the Young Wizard around were scared and instinctively huddled together, making the already narrow path even more crowded.

Charlie couldn't take it anymore; he felt like someone was touching his butt as they squeezed.

He took out his wand.

"Lumos."

A ball of light appeared at the tip of his wand, illuminating the surroundings.

"We can see the path now."

The Young Wizard were excited and spontaneously followed him.

Hagrid looked back and saw a group of Young Wizard, following the figure in front like stars surrounding the moon.

He was momentarily stunned.

That elegant posture and the way he was being followed by everyone reminded him of someone.

Dumbledore's wool socks, a formidable fellow has arrived among this year's new students.

Soon, everyone arrived at the edge of a Black Lake.

"No more than four to a boat!" Hagrid said, pointing to the small boats moored by the lake.

Charlie, Harry, and Ron naturally sat in one boat, and the fourth spot was taken by a boy Charlie didn't know.

The boy looked very nervous, clutching the side of the boat tightly.

"Forward!" Hagrid shouted.

The boats began to glide automatically across the lake; without oars or anyone steering, they moved steadily forward.

When the full view of Hogwarts Castle appeared before everyone, everyone gasped in amazement.

The huge Castle stood on high rocks, its spires pointing directly at the stars.

The Castle windows glittered in the night, their reflections shimmering on the surface of the Black Lake, and moonlight spilled onto the ancient stone walls; the entire Castle exuded a mysterious and solemn atmosphere.

Charlie was stunned.

Witnessing this magical Castle firsthand, the shock made him hold his breath.

"Is this Hogwarts?" Harry couldn't help but exclaim.

Although Ron had grown up in the magic world, this was his first time at Hogwarts, and he was equally awestruck by the magnificent scenery.

The boats slowly approached the Castle, finally stopping at a small harbor below the Castle.

"Mind your heads!" Hagrid reminded.

Everyone bent down and walked through an ivy-covered rock passage, arriving at an open space in front of the Castle's main entrance.

Hagrid raised his giant fist and knocked three times on the Castle door.

The door opened immediately.

Professor McGonagall stood at the doorway, dressed in deep green robes and wearing a pointed hat.

Hagrid handed everyone over to Professor McGonagall.

She pushed open the door, revealing the magnificent Great Hall beyond.

"Welcome to Hogwarts." Professor McGonagall's voice clearly echoed throughout the Great Hall.

"The start-of-term feast will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you must first be sorted into your Houses."

She began to explain that Hogwarts was divided into four Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

"The Sorting Ceremony will begin in a few minutes, and I suggest that while you are waiting, you tidy yourselves up a bit."

With that, Professor McGonagall turned and left.

The new students began to whisper nervously.

"I'm so nervous, do you know how the sorting works? Quick, say something to comfort me." Harry asked nervously.

Ron was also very nervous: "I heard my brother say that you have to fight a Troll, and only the winner gets sorted."

Harry:...Thanks, I feel so much better.

Behind them, a certain Little Witch turned pale and began nervously muttering the Spells she had learned over the summer, wondering which Spell could defeat a Troll.

Harry became even more nervous when he heard her muttering.

He didn't know a single Spell; if he really had to fight a Troll, wouldn't he be minced on the first day?

Charlie glanced at them, "Are these two idiots?"

Fighting a boss right after enrollment, is this a school or a Yang Yongxin concentration camp?

Soon, Professor McGonagall returned.

"Now, form a single line and follow me."

The door opened, revealing the spectacular sight of the Great Hall to everyone.

The ceiling was out of sight, with countless candles floating above.

Four long tables were arranged in the Great Hall, each table filled with students.

The tables were laden with gleaming plates and goblets.

At the very end of the Great Hall, there was another table placed horizontally; that was the teachers' table.

Charlie glanced at the teachers' table; an old man with a beard so long it almost touched the floor was smiling at them.

That must be Dumbledore.

The new students walked nervously into the Great Hall.

Everyone's eyes were on them, which made the already nervous Young Wizard even more flustered.

Professor McGonagall placed a four-legged stool in front of them, and on the stool sat a hat.

The hat was dirty and tattered, covered in patches.

At this moment, a seam suddenly split open on the hat, and it began to sing like a mouth:

"You may think I'm not pretty..."

Well, not ugly exactly, just a bit plain.
