Chapter 56 - Chapter 56 Spider Totem

"Of course, but how will you explain getting a new sports car to your family?" Hawking asked with a smile.

Peter scratched his head: "This... I really haven't thought about it."

Indeed, suddenly buying a new sports car for a hundred thousand would surely make Uncle Ben and Aunt Mei ask where he got the money. He couldn't tell them the truth, which would be very troublesome.

Seeing this, Hawking offered a suggestion: "How about this. Didn't you say you like photography? I'm quite familiar with the Daily Bugle's boss, so I can get you a part-time reporter's ID.

You can go home and say you accidentally took some very valuable photos, and the Daily Bugle's boss appreciated you so much that he invited you to work part-time during the holidays, and even lent you a sports car to drive for these few days before graduation."

"You know the Daily Bugle's boss!" Peter's eyes immediately widened.

Photography was one of his few hobbies besides studying, and in the future, besides becoming a scientist, he had always wanted to be a reporter.

And while the Daily Bugle wasn't the biggest newspaper in New York, it was certainly well-known, and he, of course, knew about it.

"I can take you to meet him later, and we can also buy the car. Oh, do you have a driver's license?" Hawking nodded. He was only fifteen, and in New York, you needed to be at least sixteen to get a driver's license. If Peter didn't have one, they couldn't drive the car even if they bought it.

He couldn't just use the Imperio on every traffic cop he met, could he?

"I have one, and I carry it with me!" Peter immediately pulled out his driver's license from his backpack, excited.

He was already seventeen this year and would be going to college after graduation and summer vacation. How could he not have a driver's license? He had even driven Uncle Ben's old car several times.

"Then let's go." Hawking stood up, waved his hand, and rode his motorcycle, taking Peter Parker to the Daily Bugle's headquarters building.

At the Daily Bugle, he met Jonah Jameson, who arranged a part-time reporter's ID for Peter. Then, he took Peter to a car dealership and paid cash in full for Peter's first sports car.

"It's so cool!" Watching Peter caress his newly acquired sports car with adoration, Hawking rode his motorcycle and chuckled: "It's yours, but don't forget, eleven PM, Queens Park."

"No problem!" Peter immediately nodded like a pecking chick.

Hawking, who had just bought him a sports car, seemed incredibly great to him at this moment.

It was like a roommate you just met in college suddenly bought you a sports car, and all you had to do was spend an hour or two each day helping him find people during your college years, and you could even take time off whenever you wanted.

Do you think this roommate is great?

Waving goodbye to Peter, Hawking rode his motorcycle back to the Mutant School, but on the way, he thought of another problem.

That was whether Peter's Uncle Ben would still die.

Logically, now that Peter had the money he gave him to buy a car, he wouldn't go participate in underground fights, nor would he argue with Uncle Ben. Uncle Ben wouldn't drive to look for him and then be accidentally killed by robbers.

However, he had once seen a short video that said Spider-Man's abilities actually didn't come from mutation or technology, but from magic.

When Spider-Man's mind or beliefs were troubled, the magic-derived abilities in his body would also be affected and temporarily disappear.

Because Spider-Man's powers actually originated from the Spider Totem. Every Universe is destined to have a Spider-Man. The spider that bites only works if it bites someone chosen by the Spider Totem; it's useless if it bites anyone else.

And every Spider-Man, after being chosen, would lose a loved one, perhaps a family member or a lover.

If this were true, then even if his influence helped Ben avoid it this time, he wouldn't be able to avoid it next time.

But how to put it, he was powerless now; he couldn't follow Ben every day.

And even if he followed him every day, it would be useless. This involved high-level forces like fate, which he couldn't contend with now.

This was also why he needed to strive for power.

Marvel has too many extraordinary existences. If you are not strong enough, they can easily manipulate you in their palms, letting you live or die as they please, making you lose your family, and you will lose your family.

These Multiverse-level deities are the most terrifying existences.

Night, eleven PM, Queens Park.

Peter had arrived early, half an hour ahead of time, for fear of being late.

When he drove the sports car home that night, he was subjected to a strict interrogation from Uncle Ben. Fortunately, he managed to muddle through with the part-time reporter's ID and the words Hawking had taught him.

Uncle Ben and Aunt Mei were older and usually went to sleep around nine, so after nine, he could safely go out without worrying about being discovered.

"What's that?" Peter was sitting on a park bench, focusing his attention on the park entrance, waiting for Hawking to arrive on his stylish motorcycle, when suddenly he seemed to sense something and quickly turned to look up at the sky.

"You can do that!" His enhanced vision allowed him to instantly spot the tree trunk flying rapidly from a distance and Hawking standing on it.

"Boom!" The tree trunk plunged into the park's lawn, and Hawking landed gracefully, appearing right in front of him.

"Hello, Peter, you're quite early."

"I thought you'd come through the entrance. I didn't expect it to be like this. It's truly... somewhat beyond my expectations." Peter looked at the tree trunk embedded in the lawn, then at Hawking, his face full of surprise.

Hawking shrugged: "This is faster. Bronx and Queens are separated by the sea, and riding a bike would mean going around Manhattan, which is too much of a time-waster.

If you want to learn, I can teach you next time."

Don't let Peter Parker's constant web-slinging and fighting insignificant criminals make him seem not very powerful.

In reality, Spider-Man's maximum strength is up to 25 tons. If he mastered some techniques, replicating Hawking's tree-riding flight wouldn't be impossible.

"I want to learn!" Using webs to move quickly only works in the city. In places like deserts and grasslands, he'd have to run on foot.

If he learned this trick, he wouldn't have to worry about those problems, and it's really cool, isn't it?

"By the way, you didn't prepare any clothes to cover your face. Aren't you afraid of being recognized?" At this point, Hawking noticed Peter was still wearing his school uniform.

Perhaps because he always remembered Spider-Man wearing that tight suit, he forgot to remind him during the day.

"Oh no, I forgot!" Peter also realized it then. After all, it was his first time, and he hadn't thought of so many details. If he were really photographed and put in the newspaper, and Uncle Ben saw it, he'd be dead.

"What do we do now?" "What kind of clothes do you want?" Hawking asked.

Peter immediately pulled out a pen and paper he carried with him and quickly drew an outfit.

"I want something like this, but it's too late now."
