Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 Tripartite Constraints

Two sedans, one red and one blue, drove from the entrance of the Triskelion towards the city.

The red vintage sports car in front was Laura, Coulson's beloved car, capable of hovering and flying. Inside were Nick Fury, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

Following behind was the X-Car, driven by Mystique, capable of super-accelerated jet propulsion and invisibility. Inside were Hawking, Magneto, and Professor X.

"What's wrong with you two?"

In the passenger seat of the vintage sports car Laura, Nick Fury keenly noticed through the rearview mirror that Black Widow and Hawkeye, sitting in the back, seemed a bit distracted.

"That kid named Hawking seems to have the ability to see a person's destiny."

Hawkeye didn't hide anything and reported everything that happened in the lounge in detail to Nick Fury.

Nick Fury listened, pondered for a moment, then shook his head:

"You've been tricked by him. This kid isn't old, but his mind is quite mature.

Whether it was his performance in battle before, or the fact that Natasha, you couldn't extract any useful information from him today, it's clear."

"Then what he said...?"

A hint of hesitation appeared in Natasha's eyes.

Nick Fury pointed to the brainwave scrambler on his neck and explained:

"Magneto broke our scrambler back then, and Professor X must have invaded our minds, so he naturally knows some information about you. That kid probably just used that to his advantage."

Natasha and Barton are both top Agents, so under normal circumstances, it would be impossible for them to be so easily fooled.

The main reason was that Hawking's identity as a Mutant and the exaggerated abilities he displayed earlier were indeed very convincing, and what he said happened to concern them personally, which is why they were fooled.

However, this also made Nick Fury look at Hawking with new eyes. At such a young age, not only did he possess such terrifying strength due to his Mutant identity, but he could also use the information at hand to successfully deceive two top Agents.

Such strength and intellect, once he matures, would probably be more formidable than Professor X plus Magneto.

"I see. What a pity about my three children."

Upon hearing Nick Fury's analysis, Black Widow and Hawkeye immediately understood, though Hawkeye clearly felt some regret.

Meanwhile, in the blue car behind them, Hawking also roughly understood the content of their negotiations with Nick Fury from the conversation between Professor X and Magneto.

Essentially, S.H.I.E.L.D. would abandon the registration, statistics, and surveillance of Mutants, especially the Mutant School, and would do its best to promote the establishment of a Department of Mutant Affairs to allow Mutants and humans to coexist peacefully.

The corresponding condition was that when S.H.I.E.L.D. needed the special abilities of Mutants for assistance, Professor X would send the X-Men to S.H.I.E.L.D. for friendly support as much as possible.

As for Magneto, he definitely would not agree to let members of the Brotherhood of Mutants help S.H.I.E.L.D.

The condition Nick Fury offered was that the government would lift the bounty on the entire Brotherhood of Mutants, but on the premise that Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants would no longer engage in terrorist attacks.

If Magneto was found to be leading the Brotherhood of Mutants in terrorist attacks again, then S.H.I.E.L.D. and Professor X would jointly deal with the Brotherhood of Mutants.

Hawking was not particularly surprised by this outcome.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is connected to the World Security Council, and the members of the World Security Council are important leaders from various countries around the globe. Professor X simply could not refuse the conditions Nick Fury offered.

Furthermore, in the original timeline of "Days of Future Past," Professor X already had a plan to gain human acceptance of Mutants by developing the X-Men into Superheroes, which was later implemented.

As for Magneto, he had no choice but to agree to this condition now.

Unlike before, even if he was wanted by the government, it was no big deal, because his individual strength was powerful, and he could lead the members of the Brotherhood of Mutants to break through government encirclement at any time.

But S.H.I.E.L.D. is far more formidable than those in the government, whether in terms of technology or Agents, and there's also the incredibly powerful Captain Marvel.

If he didn't cooperate with Professor X, and just relied on himself leading the Brotherhood of Mutants while being wanted by the government, then as long as S.H.I.E.L.D. made a move against him, he and the members of the Brotherhood of Mutants would not escape.

So currently, Professor X, Magneto, and Nick Fury are in a state of mutual restraint.

Professor X and Magneto jointly restrain Nick Fury, preventing him from authoritarian surveillance and capture of Mutants. Professor X and Nick Fury cooperate to prevent Magneto from arbitrarily launching terrorist attacks again.

Nick Fury and Magneto, in turn, subtly put Professor X under immense pressure, because these two are not as kind as him, and if given the chance, they might sacrifice his side to achieve their own goals.

However, currently, Professor X and Magneto, due to many years of friendship and their shared identity as Mutants, have a much closer bond compared to their connection with Nick Fury.

This state of tripartite restraint cannot last forever. Once one party finds an opportunity to grow strong enough to easily deal with the other two, the balance will inevitably be broken.

Moreover, if a fourth or fifth party intervenes, the balance will also be broken.

However, for Hawking, it was already good enough. As long as the three parties could maintain this for a few years, allowing him to improve his strength, then it wouldn't matter.

Now everyone thought he was a powerful Mutant capable of fighting Captain Marvel.

But in reality, only he knew that if it wasn't a full moon night, and if he didn't load that one-hour protagonist template, he was usually just a weakling, the kind that could be taken down with a pistol.

"This looks really good!"

After getting out of the car, Hawking looked at the French restaurant, whose decor alone suggested high-class, and couldn't help but lick his lips.

It was a rare chance to splurge, and today he was going to eat his fill!

The food at the Mutant cafeteria was indeed good, but how could it compare to such a high-end restaurant? Moreover, because of his huge appetite, Chef Yuhi had already changed the food he was given to the kind that was large in quantity and filling.

He ate his fill every meal, but the taste was, well, just average.

"Waiter, twenty of these apple black puddings and pan-fried sole, please."

As soon as they sat down in the private room, Hawking immediately picked up the menu and began ordering from the waiter beside him.

Nick Fury, opposite him, smiled and said:

"Little Hawking, you don't need to order for all of us, just order what you like to eat."

"Mr. Fury, what I ordered is what I'm eating. Uh... I usually eat a lot. If you think I ordered too much, I can order a little less."

Hawking immediately put on an embarrassed expression.

Professor X, Magneto, and Mystique, sitting nearby, all showed a strange smile, but they didn't say anything.

Having spent two days with Hawking, they knew just how much he could eat.
