Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The World We Live In (4)

"Ma Rui the Crimson Coffin, eh? Sounds pretty badass, although I doubt that nickname is given to a person that is some sort of saint."

Huang Shi remained silent as he waited for Fang Lei to continue.

"Although not much is known about Sect Master Ma Rui as well, we can make some assumptions about him through his heir, Ma Shiyi!"

Ma Shiyi? That sounds like the name of a girl, though?

"Does the Red Sand Sect have no bias towards men in the succession of the sect?"

This is where Huang Shi noticed that Fang Lei's eyes suddenly glowed with both infatuation and fear, as if he was dreadfully attracted to this person and yet so scared of her reputation that he didn't even dare think any sort of indecent thought about her.

"No, Young Master! The Red Sand Sect is unique in that their sect is completely meritocratic; this means that in their sect, only the strongest person of each generation can become Sect Master, and it must be absolute suppression!"

Hmm... This person seems quite interesting.

"How strong is her cultivation base, and what kind of cultivation technique does she study?"

Fang Lei thought for a couple of seconds before slowly giving his answer, still looking as infatuated as ever.

Does this Fang Lei have some sort of crush towards this Ma Shiyi? What the hell...

Despite this thought passing through Huang Shi's head, he still waited patiently for what Fang Lei had to say.

"Ma Shiyi's cultivation technique is the same cultivation technique that her father cultivates; it is known as the Crimson Sand Burial Art. It's a very powerful technique that can be used for both offense and defense and is known to be particularly troublesome to fight against!"

Fang Lei paused for a few moments before continuing to speak.

"The gist of the technique is basically the manipulation and control of this sort of crimson sand that can be used to create anything! Crimson Sand Swords! Crimson Sand Spears! Crimson Sand Towers! Anything the cultivator wishes to create, it can be done using this technique—but of course, depending on how many, how complicated, and how large the thing you create is, the more spiritual energy is consumed!"

The more Huang Shi listened to Fang Lei speak, the more stunned he was, and the reason for it is not just because this Crimson Sand Burial Art is incredibly powerful, but it was more on how the cultivation technique is so all-encompassing in terms of offense and defense.

It sort of sounds like my own Nine Sun Immortal Codex...

This was something that Huang Shi had noticed when he first analyzed the innate cultivation technique that came from his Nine Primordial Sunfyre Physique; it didn't seem to have any sort of offensive or defensive technique like other cultivation methods.

Instead, it was purely used to absorb spiritual energy in the most efficient way possible for his heavenly physique!

And that is when he realized that the unique "sunfyre" qi that he creates—i.e., the golden flames his heavenly physique naturally creates—can basically be used to create anything he wants, as long as he has enough spiritual energy to spend.

As these thoughts rampaged inside of his head, he suddenly thought of something as he quickly asked the System a question.

Hey System, what are the odds that this Ma Shiyi and Ma Rui both have heavenly physiques?

The System remained quiet for a couple of seconds as if it was thinking of an answer before it once again spoke in a cold and emotionless tone, but this time, he seemed to sense a hint of doubt in it.

[Responding to host: It is unlikely for two people to have the same heavenly physique within the past hundred million years. Therefore, it is more likely that an ancestor of these people used to have a heavenly physique and his bloodline has allowed for his descendants to use the same cultivation technique depending on their bloodline purity.]

Oh? Bloodline? Does that mean that if I have kids, they might be able to use my Nine Primordial Codex and create their own version of "Sunfyre" Qi as well even without having my Nine Primordial Sunfyre Physique?

This time, the System answered with its usual confidence as it spoke with conviction.

[Yes, host. In most powerful sects and clans, when an ancestor has achieved a significant level of cultivation, some of their talents may be passed down to their descendants in the form of faster cultivation speeds, better comprehension towards certain cultivation techniques, or even powerful bloodline abilities. This is especially the case for divine bodies such as the host's Nine Primordial Sunfyre Physique.]

After thinking for a couple of moments, Huang Shi suddenly asked a question that he was very curious about after learning this information.

"Hey System, can you use my status window to show if I have any powerful bloodline?"

[Affirmative, host!]

[Status]

[Name: Huang Shi]

[Sect: Azure Dragon Sect]

[Status: Son of the Sect Master]

[Cultivation Base: 9th Level Elementary Profound Realm]

[Talent: Divine]

[Physique: Nine Primordial Sunfyre Physique]

[Bloodline (Dormant): Primordial Dragon God]

What the hell? Primordial Dragon God? Not the Azure Dragon? Is there something wrong with my bloodline?!

After thinking for a couple of seconds, Huang Shi decided to put this at the back of his mind for now as he turned back towards Fang Lei and nodding his head, gesturing for him to continue.

Fang Lei, on the other hand, had aptly chosen to remain quiet as he noticed that this young master of his had a habit of suddenly becoming quiet in the middle of their conversation.

However, he didn't really think anything of this fact because he just assumed that he was thinking through the information he provided, and was in fact very happy.

As for Ma Shiyi's current cultivation base, a look of awe and fear once again clouded Fang Lei's face as he spoke with a very unnerved expression.

"As of all publicly available information, Ma Shiyi is currently at the 9th level of the Nascent Profound Realm! In fact, she is known to be the most talented person that has come out of Reshi City in the past thousand years!"
