After rolling around her bed in anger for a bit, Song Qingge got up to pick up her phone and glanced at the time.
The screen, which was surprisingly undamaged, showed that it was 3 a.m, and she felt her heart drop to her stomach. She had her alarm set for 6 a.m., meaning she would only get about three hours of sleep tonight if she was lucky. After leaving a few hate comments on Alone at the Highest Peak's review page to calm herself down, she quickly went to bed to make the most of the little time she had left to sleep.
As Song Qingge slept, a faint, mechanical ding! cut through the silence in her apartment, and was followed by an equally mechanical sounding voice.
"A New Host has been selected…
Initializing World Transfer Sequence"
——-
"Shimei! Shimei! Please wake up!"
Song Qingge opened her eyes groggily to the sound of an unfamiliar voice.
I really need to stop staying up so late every night she thought to herself as she slowly sat up I feel like I'm dying-
Her thoughts were interrupted by a young man wrapping his arms around her shoulders and squeezing her tightly.
"Shimei!! Thank the Heavens you woke up! We were all so worried about you!"
"Can't- breathe-" Song Qingge forced out the words with the last bit of air left in her lungs.
"Shixiong, you're going to make her lose consciousness again." A female voice scolded the young man gently from across the room. The young man quickly let Song Qingge go and flashed her a sheepish grin.
"Sorry, Shimei, I was just so happy that you finally woke up!"
Once the stars cleared from Song Qingge's vision, she took a moment to carefully observe the young man.
He was a complete stranger to her, and a fear shot through her heart like an arrow. He had long, black hair that was tied up in a ponytail and adorned with a simple silver crown, He wore simple light-green robes that looked perfect for cultivation. Standing behind him was a similarly unfamiliar young woman, who was gazing at Song Qingge with eyes full of concern.
When Song Qingge met her worried gaze, her heart began beating even faster. Though the young woman was also wearing simple green robes, she had an undeniable air of grace, with soft peach-blossom eyes and long dark brown hair that was half pinned up into a simple bun with a silver hairpin.
Just my type… Song Qingge thought absent-mindly, before quickly scolding herself.
Now is not the time for that!
It was obvious that she was no longer in her apartment, and based on the appearance of the two in front of her, it was likely she wasn't even in modern times. As an avid reader of online novels, Song Qingge quickly came to the conclusion that she had traveled into another world.
And if she had traveled into another world… well, shouldn't it be the world of the last book she read? And out of all the characters, she would of course inhabit the body of the one that shared her name…
Tears immediately started to stream from Song Qingge's eyes at the thought.
"Shimei! What's wrong- are you feeling pain somewhere?" the young man, who was most likely Jie Luo himself, immediately panicked at the sight of her tears. He looked to the young woman, who was almost definitely Feng Wenling, with a pleading expression. She hesitated for a brief moment before taking out a handkerchief and gently wiping Song Qingge's tears.
"Shimei, if you're still in pain, let us know so we can send for the healer." Feng Wenling said. Her gentle tone made Song Qingge's ears turn red, and she forced herself to stop crying immediately.
"It's not that, um, Shijie … I'm just…I'm really sorry for worrying you two." Song Qingge said tearfully.
"Er-Shixiong, Shijie, can I be alone for a little while?"
Jie Luo and Feng Wenling shared a look of surprise before excusing themselves.
"We'll be outside, Shimei" Jie Luo said "If you need anything, or feel pain anywhere, call for us right away!"
Once she was alone, Song Qingge pinched herself on the cheek and felt a sharp sting of pain.
Looks like I'm not dreaming…
F*ck, I actually became that cannon fodder, Song Qingge!
Tears of despair welled in her eyes once again, but she held them back.
There's no use crying about this… think, Qingge, think of all the novels you've read, damn it! If I want to live, I just have to change the plot of this stupid story!
Song Qinnge suddenly leapt out of bed like a frog jumping out of a pond and rushed into the corner of the room, where there was a small desk prepared for writing. After scrounging around the room for something to write with, she managed to find a blank paper notebook and some charcoal that must have belonged to the original Song Qingge. She opened the notebook and without any further delay, began writing down everything she could remember about the original novel.
The original owner of her body had brought death upon herself by bullying the villain, Wei Yaozu, and coveting his beloved Jie Luo. Song Qingge had no feelings for Jie Luo, and she would obviously not bully the villain, so there shouldn't be any issues going forward.
The only problem was she was pretty sure the reason she had woken up sick in bed is because Wei Yaozu had already tried to kill her.
In Alone at the Highest Peak, a few days after Wei Yaozu joined the sect, there was an incident where original Song Qingge had almost died after "accidentally" falling into a pond. If Jie Lou and Feng Wenling had not been coincidentally walking by, she would have drowned. After waking up, the original Song Qingge had no memory of how she had fallen into the water, and the incident was eventually dismissed as an unfortunate accident.
But Song Qingge knew that it must have been Wei Yaozu! Which meant that he already held a deep grudge against her!
She let out another deep sigh and clenched her fists tightly.
If he already held a grudge against the original Song Qingge, her number one priority was clear.
She had to apologize to Wei Yaozu right away!
Song Qingge stood up with newfound purpose and ran out of her room - straight into Feng Wenling!
