Chapter 5 - Collision Of Fates

Lima looked at him and said, "I'm not playing games."

The corners of Adrian's lips crooked in a detached curve, his "gaze" falling on Lima's lucent eyes.

Her eyes were clear and bright, tapered at the corners exquisitely. Such beautiful eyes are so pure and clean, even when she lies.

"Did you tell Evan that the vase was broken by me, not you?"

Lima quickly bowed her head.

Knowing full well he couldn't see, she still felt guilty.

The girl's fingers twirled around the blind man's cane before meeting his eyes again, "It wasn't me."

There was a hint of scorn in Adrian's otherwise calm brows; his heart understood.

Lima was irritated by his confident and contemptuous demeanour as if he had already figured out the truth.

It was always like this with Adrian!

Even though he couldn't see, he could always discern the truth.

It felt as if all the tricks played in front of him were no different from the excuses of a kindergarten kid feigning a stomachache to skip school.

Choosing to stay silent, Lima pulled Adrian into the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, there was a chilling aura around Adrian, and in a frosty voice, he ordered, "Let go."

Ignoring him, Lima continued to hold the tip of the blind man's cane.

Adrian snorted coldly, the dangerous aura around him intensifying, "Your lying skills are still as clumsy as ever."

Lima's face also chilled. She really wanted to slap this arrogant, obsessed man. But when she turned around to look at his face, she repressed the urge.

His eyes, hidden behind the black sunglasses, blended into the pair of dark eyes in her mind, constantly reminding her of her past life.

It could be that the blind one isn't Adrian, but herself. Otherwise, she wouldn't have made the mistake of marrying Evan, living a ludicrous life, and ending up having her heart ripped out.

The man she had always disliked, at the last moment, would rather die than let her be harmed.

'Lima, promise me, live on!'

His last words and smile sent chills down Lima's spine.

Forget it... No matter what Adrian's motives were, he still died because of her.

Lima suddenly clenched the blind stick. If he wants to scold her, let him scold her. If he wants to misunderstand her, let him misunderstand... she doesn't care anymore.

In this life, she does not aspire to the so-called true love.

She only wishes for no more bad feelings between her and Adrian.

Lima cleared her throat, humbled herself, and said, "I might have done some wrong things before, I'm sorry. You're a big man, don't stoop to the level of a rogue like me."

After she finished speaking, the elevator felt even colder.

She apologized to him, very sincerely at that, but why did he look even angrier?

The floor numbers in the elevator kept changing, and an unsettling silence lingered.

The air gradually became thinner. Lima felt oppressed and wondered if she should say it again while looking at him.

"Let go! Can't you understand?" Adrian's icy voice brought down the temperature once more.

He forcefully yanked his white cane free from the girl's clenched hand.

The tip of the cane scraped against Lima's hand, leaving a slight sting. Her nose stung from the unexpected sense of grievance that surrounded her.

Her big eyes blinked a few times, forcing back tears that threatened to spill over. Then her stubborn temper kicked in.

She swiftly grabbed the white cane before it could hit the ground, her resolution unwavering.

"You still haven't accepted my apology!"

Adrian "looked" at her. His thin lips tightened into a cold, hard line.

"Or should I say, what will it take for you to accept my apology?" As soon as she finished speaking, the elevator door opened. She grabbed Adrian and began pulling him out.

Adrian didn't give her any response.

Lima turned to look back at him, not noticing the trash can in front of her. She collided right into it.

In her startle, she tried to steady the trash can while wrestling with the white cane, causing it to oscillate. Before she could balance herself properly, Adrian bumped into her from behind.

The image of Adrian being impaled by a steel rod flashed across Lima's mind, and the thought was so painful she could hardly bear it.

Almost instinctively, she didn't want Adrian to be hurt and embraced his waist, intending to use her body as a cushion in his fall.

Even if his eyes couldn't see, Adrian could guess Lima's intentions.

His waist forcefully twisted, turning them around again.

As Lima looked at the perfectly three-dimensional features constantly magnifying before her eyes, her grip around his waist tightened.

Lima harshly landed on top of Adrian with a thump, her forehead colliding with the man's cold, stern jawline.

A strong masculine scent from the man instantly filled her nostrils.

Hissss... Lima rubbed her forehead with one hand and glanced at him.

The sensation under her hand was real. Adrian, at this moment, seemed slightly more fleshed out compared to when he was dead, and it felt comforting.

Adrian's sunglasses were thrown off, his deep eyes closed, visibly irritated.

The person in his embrace had seemingly broken the gates to his suppressed emotions. An inexplicable impulse spread through his blood, his abdomen felt heated as his muscles filled with strength.

Seeing the veins on his forehead bursting out, Lima realized he was even more enraged and hurriedly got up. "How are you? Did you get hurt from the fall?"

With his eyes still closed, Adrian deeply inhaled, "You get up."

"Oh." Lima hurriedly picked up his sunglasses and put them back on before getting up.

She hesitated before bending down to help him get up. "Let me help you."

Adrian tried to shake her off, but he lost his balance.

Lima hurriedly tried to catch his hand as they stumbled and leaned against the wall, her lips crashed into his.

Lima's eyes widened in surprise as she backed away and quickly wiped her mouth.

"-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." she stammered, referencing the inexplicable kiss that had just transpired.

The man chuckled coldly, "Do you think I would believe that?"

"Believe it or not..." Before she could even finish her sentence, Lima was abruptly pulled into Adrian's arms.

His lips sealed hers.

With the back of her head held in his grip, Lima couldn't escape. The kiss gradually deprived her of oxygen, forcing her to succumb to it.

Adrian's kiss was as domineering and aggressive as he himself was. It carried an irresistible recklessness that swept across and owned all of Lima's taste.

Their breath intermingled between them.

Certain things, once experienced, can become addictive, imprinting deep memories etched into one's bones, never to be forgotten.

In an almost punishing manner, Adrian wanted Lima to remember every detail of this moment.

The burning sensation in Lima's lungs left her debilitated, unable to resist. A sliver of disappointment began to well up in the depths of her heart.

Her efforts and struggles, in his eyes, were merely part of a charade of timid acceptance and subtle rejection.

In this lifetime, would the misunderstandings between her and Adrian ever be resolved? Or was she doomed to repeat the unfortunate circumstances of her previous life?

If fate was so cruel, then what was the purpose of her reincarnation?

Both of them tasted the bitterness of life.

The aura around Adrian suddenly changed; he tore his lips away from Lima's, silently staring at her.

Lima knew he couldn't see, but she also didn't want to appear weak and helpless in front of him.

Holding back her sobs, she wiped the tears off her face. The air became abruptly quiet; only their heavy breathing remained.

"What's the matter, weren't you the one who pounced on me? Now playing the victim?" Adrian gripped her chin, his cold voice laced with scorn.

Lima's slightly panicked gaze regained composure, mischievously staring at the man before her.

"I was trying to support you, not pounce on you. Adrian, don't be so obscene to think everybody drools over you, it's nauseating!"

Adrian lowered his head to 'look' at her, his handsome face as cold as an ice sculpture, and the strength in his hand gradually increased.

"Seeing me, this blind man, you not only feel like vomiting, you probably feel so disgusted you'd rather die."
